Chapter 222 - Chapter 222: Borrowing

"Little guys, charge!"

The leading Rocket Grunts sized up the situation and then led their large group toward Ace.

Little Green had the three Legendary birds, so they didn't dare to provoke her.

Compared to her, Ace, who had only sent out one weakling Pokémon, seemed much easier to "bully."

And so, the group charged toward Ace.

Seeing the grunts rushing him, Ace wore a playful expression, while Little Green stepped back a few paces, afraid of getting blood on herself.

...

Three minutes later.

Garchomp and Blaziken threw the two already-unconscious Rocket Grunts onto a pile of bodies that had already formed.

This group of Rocket Grunts was completely defeated here.

"Oh, not scared anymore, I see."

Ace walked over to Little Green with Garchomp and Blaziken, raising a hand in greeting. He smiled at her.

Little Green rolled her eyes and silently recalled the three Legendary birds.

Although she was grateful to Ace for the reality check, the thought of him standing there and watching the whole time made her gratitude fade significantly.

I was foolish enough to want to ask him for help. It seems that relying on others is never as good as relying on myself!

Little Green thought to herself, then realized a hand was placed on top of her head.

"What are you doing?"

Little Green clutched her hat and quickly moved away.

But when she turned around, she saw Ace toying with two feathers wrapped in cloth strips.

"Give them back to me!"

Seeing the items in Ace's hand, Little Green couldn't stay calm. She immediately pounced on him, trying to snatch back the two feathers.

"I need to borrow these two things. I have a use for them."

Ace raised his hand. No matter how much Little Green stretched, she couldn't get the two feathers back.

"What do you need these for?"

Little Green was practically hanging from Ace's arm, but it was no use. She gave up and asked him about his purpose.

"That's for adults to know, not kids."

Ace said flatly, which angered Little Green greatly. She opened her mouth and bit down on his arm.

Ace was unfazed. He lifted Little Green off his arm like she was a little chick.

"Some things are better for you not to know."

Ace looked at Little Green seriously, a dramatic air about him. "I've already investigated the whole situation. I hope you won't interfere. Let me handle this alone. This is between me and him. I don't want to make a big deal out of it. As for your matter, I will give you an explanation."

With that, he didn't give Little Green a chance to react. Ace recalled Genesect, Garchomp, and Blaziken. Aerodactyl grabbed him and soared into the sky, quickly disappearing from Little Green's sight.

"Wait... he's already figured it out?!"

Little Green felt a crushing blow. Her mind was in a daze, but even so, her brain was working at top speed. Combining Ace's words with the information she currently had, a look of shock gradually appeared on her face.

"That guy! Could it be..."

Little Green turned back to look at the unconscious Rocket Grunts. She immediately recalled Blastoise, then released her Moltres. She hopped onto Moltres's back and chased after Ace.

As she pursued Ace, Little Green made a phone call to Professor Oak.

After confirming some things, Little Green couldn't sit still. She lightly patted Moltres's body. The bird understood and increased its speed, flying rapidly toward Ace.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Aerodactyl had entered its Mega Evolution form. Its speed increased significantly, and it brought Ace to Ecruteak City as fast as it could.

"Is this the place?"

In front of Ecruteak City's Burned Tower, Ace and Aerodactyl stood before the building.

Ace looked at the side quest that had suddenly appeared after he left the Whirl Islands, which was the fundamental reason he went to find Little Green in the first place.

"Side Quest (Three Legendary Beasts): The three Legendary beasts are trapped in a time rift beneath the Burned Tower. Find the time rift, break the shackles of the three Legendary beasts, and release them. Quest Reward: 10,000 Gold, with quest points awarded based on performance evaluation."

Ace recalled Aerodactyl and sighed softly.

The Elite Four plot had been completely disrupted by him. Originally, it should have been Yellow who broke the seals of the three Legendary beasts. But without Yellow's involvement, this task had now fallen to Ace.

Releasing Ninetales, Ace walked into the desolate ruin.

"The Burned Tower, formerly the Bell Tower, is said to be the home of Lugia."

As he walked inside, Ace spoke lightly. "Lugia, have you ever lived here in the past?"

Lugia's Poké Ball remained silent, not answering Ace's question.

Ninetales followed Ace closely. The nine flames on its tail ignited, then shot out quickly.

The several lurking Pokémon in the ruins were instantly hit by the fireballs. A small explosion occurred, sending these Pokémon flying.

For a moment, the Pokémon hidden in the shadows became obedient, staying put and no longer showing vigilance or hostility.

Ace and Ninetales arrived at the base of the Burned Tower. Seeing the large burned hole, Ace leaped directly into it, falling downward.

Just before he hit the ground, a gentle force caught Ace, allowing him to land steadily.

Immediately after, Ninetales descended slowly and landed beside Ace.

"A time rift... how do I find it?"

Ninetales's flames lit up the air. Looking at the surrounding rubble and broken bricks, Ace took out the two feathers from his pouch.

As the two feathers were taken out, Ace instantly felt a subtle pulling force.

The force was gentle, like a woman's tugging. Ace could still resist it.

However, Ace didn't resist this force. Instead, he went along with it, slowly arriving in front of a giant rock as tall as a person.

The pulling force was coming from here. Ace hesitated for a moment, then reached out and placed his arm on the rock.

The next moment, Ace felt a suction force. The hard surface of the rock instantly turned into a liquid-like surface.

As ripples spread, Ace called out to Ninetales. Ninetales immediately leaped to his side.

With Ninetales in place, Ace no longer resisted the suction force. Together with Ninetales, he was sucked directly into the rock!

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Ecruteak City, Little Green arrived on Moltres. Seeing that Ace was no longer in sight, she frowned slightly.

"Where did Ace go?"

Little Green looked down at Ecruteak City. After a moment of thought, she had Moltres descend, eventually stopping on the outskirts of the city.
