Chapter 7 - hunting

Chapter 9: The First Massacre

The gray skies of the First God's Sanctuary stretched overhead as Kai stepped beyond the protective walls of Steel Armor Shelter. Armed with twin short blades and a pack of throwing knives, he moved with silent precision through the ruined wilderness. Trees gnarled by mutation, rocks shaped by years of corrosive energy—this was a land sculpted by evolution and danger.

Kai was hunting.

Not out of desperation like the others.

He was harvesting.

---

Within hours, blood marked his trail. Ordinary creatures fell in droves under his swift strikes—wolf-like beasts with tusks, horned rabbits, and mutated birds that screeched like banshees.

His body danced through combat like a specter. The Falsified Sky Sutra cloaked his steps, while Blood Pulse surged through his veins, enhancing each movement with practiced control. With each kill, he absorbed more ordinary geno points, pushing steadily toward the 100-point maximum.

Hours passed, and the messages kept flashing across his vision.

> [Ordinary Gene maxed out: 100/100]

Then he moved onto the mutant class.

In the ruins of an old forest station, he baited a trio of mutant lizards into a narrow pass. The fight was brutal—scales thick, tails fast—but not enough.

He didn't scream. He didn't sweat.

One blade through the spine, the other across the throat. He killed them all.

Primitive beasts came next.

He tracked a massive boar with crystalline tusks, ambushing it near a ravine. Even as it roared and charged, Kai used terrain and timing. One calculated leap, a blade to the eye, and gravity did the rest.

> [Primitive Gene +1]

It was a massacre.

By nightfall, his bag overflowed with beast materials—bones, fangs, hides. He'd stored multiple beast souls already, including a mutant-class spear and a primitive-grade shield. His genes grew stronger with each hunt, every cell honed into something beyond ordinary.

But he wasn't done.

---

Three days later, while tracking the trail of a rare serpent-type beast, Kai found something unexpected.

A collapsed cliff led to a hidden gorge—dark and littered with broken remains of creatures. In the center, still feasting, stood a single towering insect.

Its carapace was jet black, glossy like obsidian, and reinforced by natural armor that shimmered faintly. A Black-Armored Beetle.

Kai's eyes narrowed.

He remembered this.

In the original timeline, this beetle would one day become Han Sen's first sacred-blood kill and provide the Black Beetle Beast Soul Armor—his iconic gear.

Not this time.

Kai's gaze sharpened. He moved with purpose.

---

The beetle noticed him and let out a deep hiss. Its six legs twitched, claws clicking on the stones. Then it charged.

Kai drew his short blades and waited until the last second—then vanished.

Falsified Sky.

He reappeared behind the beetle, slashing one of its leg joints. Sparks flew, but the blade didn't break the sacred shell.

The beetle whipped its body around, tail slicing through the air.

Kai rolled, throwing two knives aimed for the beetle's compound eyes. One missed. The other struck true.

The creature shrieked.

That was his moment.

Activating Blood Pulse Sutra, his strength surged. He leapt onto its back, plunged one blade between the plates of its neck, and drove the other into the wound. The beetle thrashed, its armored body slamming against rocks, but Kai held firm.

Minutes later, it stopped moving.

Kai pulled his bloodied blades free and stepped back.

> [Beast Soul Gained: Sacred-Blood Black-Armored Beetle (Armor)]

> [Sacred-Blood Gene +1]

He exhaled.

This was it.

He had just acquired one of the most iconic pieces of sacred-blood gear in the entire Sanctuary.

---

Back at Steel Armor Shelter, his return turned heads. His armor gleamed darkly beneath his coat, heavy with sacred energy. Qin Xuan raised an eyebrow but didn't question him.

Others stared in silence.

No one could understand how someone this new had already acquired a sacred-blood beast soul.

Kai didn't answer their unspoken questions.

He simply went to his quarters, removed the earring his mother had given him for his twelfth birthday, and set it carefully beside his growing collection of trophies.

Another step forward.

He was ready for the next phase.

[Yes he can get gene point after killing them ]

And the black crystal is also with him.
