Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: It Was Really You! Jaden Yuki!

Whether it was Alexis Rhodes, Zane Truesdale, or Chazz Princeton sitting in the audience.

Everyone harbored a 'grudge' in their hearts.

The grudge of losing to that person!

Everyone was striving to surpass that person's figure.

But that person had silently disappeared from everyone's sight.

"I heard there's a very special examinee in this assessment."

Zane Truesdale walked to the railing, looking at the examinees below.

"Oh? What kind of examinee?" Alexis Rhodes looked at him curiously.

Someone who could catch the attention of Duel Academy Higher Division's No.1 Zane Truesdale must be very strong, right?

"I'm not too sure. I just heard that this examinee will be personally assessed by Professor Crowler."

"Personally assessed by Professor Crowler?" Alexis Rhodes showed a surprised expression.

As the instructor of Obelisk Blue Dorm, Alexis Rhodes was very clear about Professor Crowler's strength.

Although he wasn't a Professional Duelist, his teaching level was among the best teachers Alexis Rhodes had ever met.

But now, as the chief in charge of this assessment, he was going to personally assess an examinee?

This was a bit too strange.

"Is that examinee really that special?"

Alexis Rhodes murmured softly.

"Who knows." Zane Truesdale's mouth curved into a smile. "Maybe, he really is a genius."

A genius? 923

Alexis Rhodes fell silent.

Would that genius be as strong as that person?

"Activate Trap Card! [Ring of Destruction]!"

"Destroy one Monster Card on the field, and both players take damage equal to that monster's ATK."

On the examination field, Bastion Misawa calmly activated his Trap Card.

A circle of grenades immediately appeared around the neck of Vorse Raider on the field.

Amidst the grenade's detonation, a fierce explosion instantly swept across the entire field.

Both the examiner and Bastion Misawa were instantly engulfed in the dust and smoke from the explosion.

"Ugh..."

The examiner's Life Points instantly dropped to zero.

Around them, some examinees let out gasps.

"Amazing, truly worthy of being this year's Examinee Number 1."

"It seems this year's strongest freshman might be him."

"Yeah, and the next examinees are all quite ordinary. There's nothing really worth noting, right?"

Amidst the excited discussions.

Bastion Misawa put away his Duel Disk and calmly walked back to the audience seats.

"Very, very impressive, Misawa-kun."

"Truly worthy of being the one with the top written exam score."

A boy with light blue hair chuckled, adjusting his small glasses.

"Mm."

Misawa sat in the spectator seats, arms crossed.

"Speaking of which, you're Syrus Truesdale, right? Is your exam over already?" Misawa looked at the boy and asked.

"Yeah... Hehe, though I'm not very confident."

Syrus Truesdale said weakly, his eyes filled with timidity.

Misawa nodded, saying nothing more.

"Misawa-kun was the last one to finish the assessment, right? But it looks like the instructors don't seem to be leaving yet."

Syrus Truesdale looked at the instructors talking on the field, a little confused. "Is someone else going to duel later?"

"Mm, I heard there's a special examinee at Duel Academy this year. At first, I thought it was just a rumor."

Bastion Misawa looked at the stage, frowning deeply.

"Eh? A special examinee?" Syrus Truesdale was a little surprised.

Soon, Syrus Truesdale noticed that as the assessment ended, the number of examinees present not only didn't decrease, but many new people also came to watch.

Everyone was discussing, seemingly guessing who this 'special' examinee could be.

"Ahem, well then, I'm up, nonne!"

Professor Crowler desperately wiped the sweat from his forehead, donned his Duel Disk, trembling like a new recruit pushed onto the battlefield.

The surrounding examiners also gave bitter smiles, only able to urge him on.

As Professor Crowler walked out of the examiner's seat, many of the examinees watching let out gasps.

"It's really Professor Crowler personally taking the field. I'm getting more and more interested in the identity of that special examinee."

Alexis Rhodes said with a smile, resting her chin on her hand.

"Professor Crowler's Deck, huh... This way, we can personally witness the Professor's prowess." Zane Truesdale nodded.

However, that special examinee...

"Ah, my apologies. There was a slight traffic jam on the way. I'm not too late, am I?"

Just as the two were guessing the examinee's identity, a magnetic voice sounded from the corridor behind them.

"Hm?"

Alexis Rhodes and Zane Truesdale paused slightly, turning their heads simultaneously.

They saw a young man with brown jellyfish-like hair, wearing a red jacket and light blue jeans, with a Duel Disk on his left arm, walking towards them.

Alexis Rhodes and Zane Truesdale's eyes widened. Their usually calm faces were now filled with surprise.

"You..."

"Ah, it's you two. Long time no see."

The young man nodded slightly, greeting them.

Then, he brushed past them and walked towards the dueling stage downstairs.

"N-no way?"

"Is it really him?"

Alexis Rhodes and Zane Truesdale watched the young man leave, a strange mix of emotions rising in their hearts.

"He looks more mature these past two years..." Alexis Rhodes murmured, looking at his red back.

"Mm, I didn't expect our next meeting to be in a place like this. Is he that special examinee?" Zane Truesdale closed his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Indeed, only the highest authority here would be qualified to assess him."

Jaden Yuki walked down the stairs.

With his appearance, a wave of gasps erupted in the audience.

"Hey, he, isn't that..."

"He's on stage? He's really on stage!"

"Holy crap, really? That special examinee is... Jaden Yuki?!"

"The duelist who became famous in the professional arena two years ago? No way! Why is he coming to our academy!"

The examinees gasped in astonishment.

Even Chazz Princeton in the audience seats widened his eyes, abruptly standing up.

"It's you..."

"Jaden Yuki, you bastard..."

The gasps around them also left Syrus Truesdale in the audience confused.

"W-what's wrong? Everyone seems so excited."

Looking down, Syrus Truesdale saw Bastion Misawa, who had just been calm, now wide-eyed and shocked.

"Misawa-kun, what's wrong? That person..."

"You, you don't know Jaden Yuki, who was so famous in the dueling world two years ago?" Bastion Misawa looked at Syrus Truesdale as if he were an idiot. "The one who used a [HERO] Deck, broke records in the professional league, and never lost a single match!"

"Eh? R-really? He's that amazing?!"

Syrus Truesdale's face changed, and he finally gasped in belated realization.

"Is this your first year in dueling?" Misawa looked at Syrus Truesdale in disbelief, wanting to see what kind of thoughts were rattling around in that not-so-bright head of his.

"M-my dueling skills have always been terrible, so..."

Syrus Truesdale's face turned red, and he scratched his head in embarrassment.

Misawa shook his head, his gaze turning to the young man who had already stepped onto the field.

His eyes filled with excitement.

"Hurry up and start, Jaden Yuki."

"I can't wait to see your [HERO] Deck!"
