Chapter 67 - Chapter 66

As soon as the battery arrived, General Yves immediately sent people to deliver it to General Ulric and his group.

"Wait a moment!"

General Yves called them back, "I will go there myself to have a look!"

General Ulric had already opened up three hundred acres of wasteland. Although he was happy about it, he hadn't visited the site yet. This was a good chance to check it out.

General Yves led a cavalry unit and rode for over two hours to reach the land.

When they arrived, everyone looked out at the vast land, all golden yellow as far as the eye could see.

The soil was even turned over once, loose and slightly moist.

Looking toward the distance, they saw tents and soldiers from the Zhao army working there.

General Yves relaxed a bit and rode toward General Ulric's group. "Let's go! Let's have a look!"

As they got closer, they saw that everyone had clear tasks and worked together efficiently.

General Ulric was following the on-site supervisor when his men noticed General Yves and called out to him.

"Commander!"

Seeing General Yves, General Ulric's eyes lit up. He left his men and ran over to him.

"Commander! Why did you come here yourself?"

General Ulric saluted General Yves. "We can open fifty to sixty acres a day now. Besides having many workers, it's mainly because of these machines. Commander, the divine lord gave us these powerful tools!"

General Ulric was still very excited inside. How could ordinary people lift stones weighing two or three tons? It was all thanks to the divine lord's gifts.

General Yves nodded but knew in his heart these were not divine weapons, but the wisdom of people from the future.

One day, he wanted to make sure his people could use such tools too.

Using these tools for farming would make life easier for common people.

Even without natural disasters or wars, farming was hard work, and sometimes yields were low.

Now, with the map Sophia gave them, they opened more land for farming. If they combined that with these tools, the people would never have to worry about food again.

"If only there were ways to increase food production even more," General Yves muttered.

He thought about the dream he had once, which must have been Sophia's world, where people were full of energy, very different from the pale, hungry people of this time.

"Commander! What did you say?"

General Ulric looked at General Yves, puzzled.

General Yves was pulled back to reality by Ulric's voice and got off his horse.

"You've only been here for seven or eight days, right?"

General Yves asked.

General Ulric nodded, confirming it was true.

"Take me around to see."

Ulric led General Yves, and they walked leisurely on the farmland they had opened. Only two guards followed them.

General Ulric sighed, "The land here is even better than in our kingdom."

General Yves suddenly said, "What if we move the capital here? What do you think?"

General Ulric was startled.

Although the Zhao kingdom might have been destroyed if not for General Yves, who led them to defeat enemies and defend the borders, now he led them to expand territory.

Officially, the Zhao king was Qin Jiang, but in the eyes of the court, people, especially the military, General Yves was their true ruler.

But before, General Yves never expressed such a clear opinion.

General Ulric said, "I think moving the capital is not urgent right now, but we can start by relocating some of the people of the kingdom first."

Even without the drought in recent months, the land where Zhao Kingdom is located is not good. The soil is poor, winters are freezing with snow, and without stored food, many people might starve.

If they move to King Chen's land, there will be some food to help for now, and it won't be so cold that people freeze to death.

General Yves thought for a moment and did not answer immediately.

In front of them, ten excavators worked together, clearing plants and stones.

More than a thousand soldiers divided into fifty small teams. They cleaned the land where the excavators worked, removing big stones and dry branches, and leveled the uneven ground.

With so many people, the work went fast. They made steady progress that was easy to see.

"All right, go back," General Yves said before leaving. He told General Ulric, "This speed is faster than we planned before. It looks like it will take less than a month to finish. We will need to plan for more land."

General Ulric agreed.

"See if next spring we can move part of the kingdom's people to live here."

Thanks to Sophia's help with the big machines, especially those ten earth movers, they checked in the afternoon and saw they moved quickly.

With the earth movers, they could soon move some people here fast.

There is land, and people can live in temporary shelters for now.

General Ulric's face flushed with excitement as he listened.

"If possible, he wants to move his own family here. The resources here are richer than Zhao Kingdom."

And with the war moving forward, Zhao Kingdom will definitely have to move south later.

General Yves did not stay longer. After returning, he gave another reward to General Ulric's troops.

Sophia sent dried fish, ten pieces per person, and also gave out bags of food: ten pounds each of potatoes, cabbage, and flour.

When the supplies arrived at the wilderness, all the soldiers cheered loudly.

Within two days, when it was time for a shift change, the second group of taxi soldiers already knew about the rewards General Yves gave out. They started working energetically as soon as they arrived in the wilderness.

Most soldiers who go to fight come from poor families. Some were drafted, some volunteered because their families could barely make ends meet. They joined hoping to reduce mouths to feed at home and to send some food back.

After receiving the food, many asked the water tanker trucks to help bring the supplies to the kingdom.

General Yves quietly worked, secretly expanding their territory.

Meanwhile, war between Zhao Kingdom and Wu Kingdom was about to break out.

Zhao Kingdom did not have many generals who could lead troops. The court argued whether to send General Zhao or Faron. In the end, they chose the old General Zhao to lead the army.

General Zhao is sixty years old. Before reaching the border, his leg injury flared up again, but he still insisted on leading the battle.

However, things went badly. Zhao's army kept losing and lost two cities in a row.

The news of defeat quickly reached Zhao Kingdom's court.

Everyone looked serious.

The country's border was lost, and General Zhao, already sick, became bedridden.

Now they knew they had to send Faron to fight, but many still hesitated.

"How can we let Faron lead? He has many war achievements but comes from the lower class, not accepted by the court. Are there really no other generals who can lead the army?"

Everyone looked around. Indeed, there was no one else.

"Doesn't General Zhao have any young talents by his side?"
