The question lingered in the air as Kyle reached out to me with one hand. As I grasped it, the detective pulled me to his right, seating me on the furthest chair from the room door.
Checking his watch, he spoke decisively. “You have thirty minutes to think about it. I will await your answer at three o’clock.”
“What? Are you going somewhere?”
“I have to catch her, of course. When I leave the room, close the blinds over the door window and under no circumstances show your face to anyone.” With those parting words, Kyle exited the room, closing the door behind him with nothing more than a stealthy whisper. The detective paused for a moment before slowly turning his head to the right. Spotting something in the distance, he smirked knowingly.
As Kyle began stalking down the train carriage, I quickly got up and closed the shutter on the window. Whispering, I gestured to Miu. “Get the lock from the bag.”
