Chapter 10 - Taking advantage of unexpected situation?

Chapter 10: Taking advantage of unexpected situations?

"I will be keeping my eyes on you from now on, Elias von Shade."

Victor, hearing her words, knew he was going to be in much more trouble than he had thought. She was one of the most powerful people in the world. He couldn't do anything against her as of right now, so he had to be under her watch until he was capable of going unnoticed.

Victor knew coincidentally he had turned a predetermined fate into a situation where it looked like someone had attempted to get rid of him, so he had to take advantage of this situation fully, knowing he had banished all accusations of his corruption.

"Your Majesty, what about those who tried to get rid of me, using you? I should be compensated for this. I nearly died today."

Lysira did believe he was acting a bit clever here, if he wanted to, he would have proven the accusation of his corruption wrong before she had even ordered someone to destroy his soul. However, it really was a mistake on her part, so he did deserve compensation.

'It looks as if I had played right into his hands.'

She didn't like how she got played by him, as usually, she would be the one to control everything. However, he was her son, her own blood and candidate for heir of House Shade, and more importantly, even greater than that—a piece who could help House Shade achieve command over all the houses by ruling over them.

She knew there wasn't much time left. The future was in the hands of their descendants because of the agreement they had. The one who would be ruling all the houses and getting the throne of myth could be him.

However, just this little display of wit was nearly not enough. She knew how talented the children from other houses were. He didn't even take a vow just yet. His chances were slim.

'I don't care who gets the throne of myth, but it has to be from the House of Shade, no matter what. We should be the ones to rule this world and show them that thier power is above everything else.'

'What should I give him as compensation?'

'Hmm, that should be good.'

She said in her captivating voice.

"Elias, you do deserve compensation for everything that happened to you here, and more than that, the one who put you in this position should be punished too."

"Mirae von Shade! Come to the center of the throne room."

Mirae, who was witnessing everything, was literally shocked out of her mind. She had checked it herself that he had fallen to corruption, so how could it be that Mother said he hadn't fallen to corruption?

But those words had come from the mouth of her mother. She knew it was the truth, and now she had to get punished because of it. She knew she deserved it too, as it was strictly stated that you couldn't kill your siblings due to the upcoming crowning ceremony that would decide the fate of all the houses of the world.

'Elias! I don't know how you fooled me, but I am not going to forgive you for putting me down in front of Mother.'

She didn't have much interest in her siblings to begin with, but not anymore. The only reason she reported this matter was because soul corruption was a very serious matter that should be dealt with quickly.

Mirae looked at the maid who had given her information about Elias's corruption. Her cold, piercing gaze looked directly into the maid's eyes, who shivered a little seeing her master's cold gaze on her.

'I am going to have a proper talk with that maid later.'

She knew it wasn't going to be just talk.

Mirae didn't let her mother wait and quickly walked past the mist of lust and illusion. She was only able to pass it because her mother had allowed it.

"What do you have to say for this, Mirae? My daughter, I am very disappointed in you that you tried to kill Elias. I thought you had ambitions bigger than those." Lysira stated coldly, but even with that, the charm in her voice was still there as if it was part of her very being.

Hearing her mother's cold words, words got caught up in Mirae's throat. She knew what her mother was talking about. The position of Matriarch of House Shade was nothing compared to ruling the world by getting crowned and getting the throne of myth.

It was her goal too, and she knew her mother also wanted that, but for this oversight, she had nothing more to say than ask for her forgiveness.

She looked at the floor as she couldn't look at her directly when she had made such a big mistake.

"I am sorry, mother. I should have been more careful about reporting such a big thing."

Elias was looking at the white-haired girl who was a little shorter than him, and he had to look down a bit to look at her face. She should be around the age of 17-18 by seeing her appearance and was currently looking at the black polished marble on the floor.

Mirae didn't just stop there, as now she looked at her brother Elias, who was the one who had put her in this position right now. She didn't know he was that clever. He acted all lustful and didn't even focus much on the training they would get.

She was the victim of a deception.

"Brother, I am sorry for bringing you to such a dangerous situation in haste." While saying her apology, there was no apologetic look on her face. Her silver eyes were sharply looking into his silver eyes.

Because she knew Elias had somehow tricked her into believing he had a corrupted soul when she checked it. She didn't know how he pulled that off, but that was enough proof for her to believe that his act of that failed lustful heir of the Shade clan was over in her eyes.

'I don't know how many secrets you are hiding from me, brother. While I can't kill you, I am going to make you my puppet sooner or later, and I know you would be a useful one.'

She didn't wait for him to accept his apology or not and looked directly at her mother, as she would be the one who had the final say in all. The reason she asked for his forgiveness was that she was sure Mother would make her do it, and her way wouldn't be a good one either.

Lysira wasn't going to punish Mirae in a way that would harm her or anything, as she was still the best in their house among all the children in terms of talent. She was going to take her vow on her 18th birthday, which would be in a week, and she was waiting to see how powerful her vow would be.

She had apologized to Elias—it was enough as he hadn't been harmed also, so it seemed good to her. But she had to compensate him for everything. She should have given him a high-rank weapon or some artifact which should be enough, but after witnessing his capabilities and how he had fooled even her, she did have a bit of hope for him.

'I had detected he hadn't taken a vow just yet, so this should be perfect.'

She took out two pink ancient-looking orbs. They weren't just anything normal—they were fragments of lust, which could enhance the chance of getting a higher-ranked vow. While they had taught their children from a young how to make strong vows, it also depended on their ideals and personalities, so no one could determine what the actual rank of their vows would be.

But she was hoping that Mirae would awaken with either a Jade Vow or Diamond Vow like her, so she was going to give her these two orbs to help her achieve that.

These fragments of lust could be considered the greatest treasure for someone who took vows on lust as their core, especially those who had a direct connection to Xialith, the Goddess of Lust.
