"Duel!" x2
[Yugen, LP 4000]
[Genichiro, LP 4000]
"I'll go first. Draw!"
Genichiro took the first turn. But he wasn't in a hurry to play cards. After looking at his hand, he just let out a few "kekekeke" sinister laughs, then licked his lips.
"Let this duel allow you to properly enjoy the dark feast. Let me properly savor your pain."
"First, I activate one 'Pot of Greed' to draw two cards from my deck."
"Next is the Spell Card 'Fiend's Sanctuary'!"
The card was inserted into the Duel Disk, a magic circle unfolded beneath his feet, and a metallic humanoid with no facial features appeared on the field from within the barrier.
[Metal Fiend Token, ATK 0]
"Fiend's Sanctuary's effect: I can Special Summon one 'Metal Fiend Token' to my field," Genichiro stated. "Then I tribute this 'Metal Fiend Token' for a Tribute Summon!
Guided by the will of darkness, let all enemies tremble beneath the shadows—
—Level 6, Dark Driceratops, summon!"
[Dark Driceratops, ATK 2400]
"Then I set two cards on my field. End turn."
Genichiro licked his lips again.
"Now it's your turn. Hurry, let me savor the darkness and pain, kekeke..."
That expression and action made Yugen feel it had a slight hint of 6-year-old Marik.
However, this person only had the form, not the spirit; compared to Mr. Ma, who was a master of facial artistry in Yu-Gi-Oh, he was still far inferior.
"My turn, draw!"
Yugen's side was very decisive.
"I set one monster face-down on the field, and set four cards in my backrow. End turn."
Directly five sets, very friendly.
"Hmm?" Genichiro froze for a moment.
Having watched Yugen's final match against Ryuzaki, Genichiro originally thought his opponent would still go with a machine-type opening, but it turned out he didn't.
Could it be that this person didn't even use their main deck in the final match?
"Ha, merely setting cards? Such a bland duel will quickly turn you into a dark sacrifice, hah hah."
Genichiro chuckled coldly.
"However, during your End Phase, I want to activate this set card."
One of his backrow cards flipped over.
"Quick-Play Spell - Fires of Doomsday! This card allows me to Special Summon two 'Doomsday Tokens' to my field!"
[Doomsday Tokens, DEF 0] x2
"During the turn I activate this card, I cannot Summon any other monsters with card effects, but now it's your End Phase anyway, so I wouldn't be able to Summon monsters in the first place."
Genichiro said.
"Next, it's my turn. Draw!"
He paused after drawing, glancing at Yugen's set cards.
"Perhaps you intend to rely on traps for temporary defense, but that level of strategy is useless against me.
From my hand, I activate the Spell Card - Night Beam!"
The Spell Card, accompanied by a golden ripple, appeared before him. A golden beam, like a sword piercing the night, pointed directly at one of Yugen's face-down backrow cards.
"Night Beam can target and destroy one face-down Spell/Trap Card on your opponent's field. Also, when selected by 'Night Beam', that targeted face-down card cannot be activated!"
He pointed at the middle one in Yugen's backrow.
"Destroy your middle face-down card!"
Yugen waved his hand: "Then at this Chain Link, I activate a set card—"
"Useless!" Genichiro said. "I already said, you cannot activate in response to 'Night Beam'—"
"You can't chain the targeted card to 'Night Beam', I know that. But I'm not activating the face-down card you targeted; I'm activating this one next to it."
Another one of Yugen's backrow cards flipped.
"Trap Card - Terrible Deal! When your opponent activates a Spell Card, pay 1000 Life Points to discard 1 random card from their hand."
[Yugen, LP 4000 → LP 3000]
The moment his LP dropped, his heart seemed to skip a beat, and a sharp pain struck him.
It was as if a thorn pricked his body, tearing a hole in his heart, and the essence of his life force poured out from that hole like a bursting dam.
"Ugh..."
Yugen's body swayed, feeling weak.
Silent Magician appeared beside him, casting a look of concern towards her master.
"No... no problem," he waved her off.
It's just the first time, still a bit unaccustomed, that's all.
As expected of a Dark Duel, losing LP feels exactly like losing life.
Undoubtedly, in this kind of duel, if LP hits zero, one would die.
"Hahaha, do you feel it? This is the pain of a Dark Duel!" Genichiro laughed heartily. "Good, that's it. Keep suffering, feel the darkness slowly devour your life. That's where the joy of a Dark Duel lies! Hahaha..."
Yugen: "..."
The existence of Dark Duels undoubtedly stimulated the awakening of many hidden psychopathic tendencies. Some latent criminals, madmen, and serial killers, after gaining dark power, would become more severe, making them stronger, harder to catch, and even more insane.
Some Dark Duelists don't even pursue greater power or any benefits through Dark Duels.
Some simply enjoy the process of making their opponent suffer.
Yugen quickly adjusted himself and continued: "'Terrible Deal's effect, you must discard one random card from your hand. Discard the leftmost card from your hand."
"As you wish."
Genichiro indifferently put the selected card from his hand into the Graveyard, calmly continuing.
"But according to Night Beam's effect, that face-down card of yours still needs to be destroyed..."
"Not necessarily." Yugen clapped his hands again. "At this Chain Link, I want to activate this face-down card you targeted with 'Night Beam.'
Trap Card - Raigeki Break!"
"Ha, are you foolish?" Genichiro looked at him with an expression of fondness for the mentally challenged. "I told you, a card targeted by 'Night Beam' cannot be activated.
Don't you understand human language? Nani!?"
Seeing Yugen's "Raigeki Break" in the backrow actually flip face-up in response, Genichiro's green eyes widened. His face seemed to scream one word—
—WHY?
