"The War Begins"
With all the vampires defeated and Yoichi Saotome shooting down the helicopters, the battle in that area was temporarily won.
"Good job, thank you," a bespectacled soldier approached. "I'm Corporal Nagai of the Shinjuku Security Unit, Third Squad. You're from the Vampire Extermination Unit, right?"
"We're the Moon Demon Company, Aoki Squad, here to assist Shinjuku," Shinoa Hīragi replied.
Corporal Nagai was delighted. "Moon Demon Company? So, some of the Moon Demon Company survived," he said, turning to his fellow soldiers. "You two, spread the word."
"Yes, sir!"
He then briefed Aoki's squad on the situation. "The west defensive wall was breached, vampires have invaded. The counterattack force is holding them off, but not for long. The situation is far worse than expected—a nightmare. We need you to head west and join the vampire extermination."
"You don't have to tell us twice," Yūichirō Hyakuya said resolutely.
"Good. We have a car ready. I'll take you there myself," Corporal Nagai offered.
They boarded the car and headed west.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Shinjuku, Guren Ichinose was using binoculars to observe the situation. Level 2 armed vampires were everywhere. "So, where are their commanders?"
He scanned the area, spotting two vampires perched on a utility pole.
One had flowing silver hair, looking strikingly beautiful. She wore a white uniform and cape, a red bow tie, red crystal earrings, crimson eyes, and black boots.
The other vampire wore a white uniform with black accents and boots. He had blond hair and blue eyes.
Guren Ichinose zoomed in. These two were likely the commanders.
As he got closer, the silver-haired vampire looked in his direction, as if sensing she was being watched.
"Oops, bad. I was spotted from that distance," Guren Ichinose muttered, quickly lowering his binoculars.
Sayuri Hanayori approached. "Lieutenant Colonel Guren, this isn't the time for sightseeing."
Guren Ichinose protested. "I wasn't sightseeing! Someone should be watching the front lines, so the vampires would naturally attack—"
He stopped mid-sentence, sensing something. "Speak of the devil, Sayuri."
Sayuri Hanayori turned to see a Level 2 armed vampire charging towards her. Just as it was about to reach her, a figure with red hair appeared, intercepting the vampire with a single punch.
It was Mitsuba Sangū, the heir of the Sangū family and a member of Guren Ichinose's Moon Demon Company squad.
"Too slow, Sangū," Guren Ichinose commented.
"Slow? You summoned me here in a rush. What's going on?" Sangū complained.
Another figure appeared beside her—a woman with long black hair and an impassive expression.
Shigure Yukimi, another member of Guren Ichinose's Moon Demon Company squad.
"Lieutenant Colonel Guren, we've arrived."
Then, a third figure emerged—a man with bleach-blond hair, a pipe in his mouth.
Norito Goshi, the eldest son of the Norito family, and a member of Guren Ichinose's squad.
"I have a feeling something big is happening. Shinjuku's Vampire Extermination Units seem completely overwhelmed."
The five present were Guren Ichinose's squad—the strongest in the Moon Demon Company. They had been summoned to Shinjuku.
"Good, everyone's here," Guren Ichinose said, then remembered something. "Where's Aoki's squad?"
Shigure Yukimi replied, "They eliminated the vampire base in Harajuku, rescued the civilians, and have reached Shinjuku."
"Not bad. Let's integrate them into this battle. You get stronger through real combat. If you survive, you'll be stronger," Guren Ichinose said. "Alright, everyone, let's go. Their commanders are at the 5th Street intersection. Taking out the leaders will turn the tide."
Below, the silver-haired vampire looked towards Guren Ichinose's position and smiled. "Oh dear, we've been spotted."
"Spotted?" The blond vampire was confused. He couldn't sense Guren Ichinose watching them. "Those humans are foolish. They think they're winning, but they're completely under your control. Because of your twisted hobby, my family was killed."
The silver-haired vampire said, "Oh dear, you're still angry about that after all this time? You've become a vampire too."
The blond vampire stared at the silver-haired vampire, then jumped from the pole. "No, my only regret is my inability to protect my family. If I had my current strength back then, things might have been different. Yūichirō might not be missing."
"You still blame yourself. You want to protect your last family, Yūichirō Hyakuya, right? That's true love, haha. But Mika, you can't survive without blood. You know what happens to vampires who lack blood," the silver-haired vampire said.
If Yūichirō Hyakuya were present, he would recognize these two vampires—individuals he could never forget.
The silver-haired vampire was Ferid Bathory, the seventh progenitor, who had killed his family in the vampire city. Yūichirō Hyakuya would kill him without hesitation if he were here.
The blond vampire was even more significant to Yūichirō Hyakuya—his closest comrade, surpassing even family.
Mikaela Hyakuya.
