Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 – “Voices Between Pages”

"Words can bind us or break us, but stories? Stories can rebuild the shattered."— Hoshino Souta

Scene 1: Morning at the Hoshino House

Sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, spilling over the tatami floor in golden streaks. The Hoshino house was quiet—not the silence of absence, but the kind born of careful thought, of unspoken resolve.

Ai sat at the low wooden table, fingers grazing the fresh notebook before her, pen resting against her palm like an unfinished sentence. Around her, Ruby and Aqua moved with quiet purpose, the soft clatter of dishes filling the air.

Souta lingered nearby, golden eyes faintly aglow—not with power, but with something deeper.

Ai took a breath, voice trembling but determined.

"Maybe… if I write my own story now, it can drown out the lies."

A pause.

Souta smiled, gentle but firm.

"We'll help you. Each page we write together will be a shield against what Souma tries to twist."

Ruby grinned, the energy in her voice breaking through the lingering weight in the room.

"And maybe we can make it fun! Like a new idol story, but this time, a happy one!"

For the first time in too long, Ai laughed—soft, real, the warmth of it reaching places the cold could not.

And for that moment, the shadows outside held no power.

Scene 2: School – The New Project

Souta and Aqua met quietly during break, the buzz of students fading into background noise as Aqua slid a tablet across the desk.

The screen flickered with data—charts, timelines, fragmented notes on Ai's behavior, the subtle shifts in her memories that couldn't be dismissed as coincidence.

"We're building a mental firewall," Aqua murmured, gaze sharp. "A protective code built from her true memories. It's not magic or power—it's truth reinforced."

Souta absorbed the information, fingers hovering just above the screen. His mind moved quickly, mapping strategies, weaving ideas into action.

"If we can embed new stories and positive memories into her subconscious, it'll make Souma's lies less effective."

A voice interrupted—warm, curious.

Reina stood nearby, arms crossed, a knowing smirk tugging at her lips.

"Sounds complicated… but you always do things like that, Souta."

A quiet pause.

Souta shrugged, cheeks tinged with the faintest red.

"Just… something I have to do."

Scene 3: Ruby and Ai's Writing Sessions

After school, Ruby and Ai sat together in the study, a sea of scattered notebooks between them. Ink smudged fingertips, pages filled with half-written dreams, scribbled-out doubts.

Ruby's creativity unfolded like blooming petals, each idea weaving into the next.

"This is your story, Mama," Ruby said, voice warm, unwavering. "We're all in it."

Ai hesitated, hand hovering above the page. A shadow of uncertainty flickered across her expression.

Then—she started to write.

Happy watched from the windowsill, his stitched smile catching the sunlight, as if glowing with quiet encouragement.

Scene 4: Souma's Counterattack

Far away, the room Souma occupied was dark—lit only by the glow of multiple screens, each flickering with distorted memories.

Ai's past twisted under his influence—scenes rewoven, moments erased, fragments reshaped into something hollow and cruel.

"If she's broken in the past, her family crumbles," Souma mused, fingers ghosting over the keyboard.

A smirk.

"And with them… the boy with the golden eyes loses his reason to fight."

He pressed enter.

Reality shuddered.

Scene 5: The Ripple Felt

That evening, the warmth of family wrapped around Ai as she sat with her children, voices blending as they read aloud from their newly crafted story.

Then—

A cold gust.

The lights flickered.

A pulse of something unnatural.

Souta's spine straightened, eyes flashing gold, sensing the shift.

"Something's wrong."

Happy stirred, the tiny bear's voice sharper than before.

"It's happening again…"

Scene 6: Family United

Souta stood—not in fear, but in defiance.

"No matter what Souma throws at us, we have the truth. Our story is ours to write."

Ai reached for his hand, fingers wrapping around his tightly.

"And together, we are stronger than any shadow."

Ruby and Aqua nodded, eyes sharp, fierce.

Happy leapt into Souta's arms, the tiny weight of him grounding something fragile within the moment.

"Let's keep writing. Our voices will be louder than his lies."

And so they did.

Because words—when written with love—could be stronger than any curse.
