"Have you lost your mind? What the hell are you talking about?" Kolton's voice cut through the tension as his brow furrowed into deep lines.
Kimi let out an exasperated breath. "Listen, I don't want to go anywhere with you—"
"Yet here you are, still sitting in my car," Kolton interrupted, his tone sharp and unforgiving.
"Only because I'm worried about my brother."
"I already told you there's nothing to worry about. I'm going to check on him and handle whatever needs handling. Go back inside your house."
Something in Kolton's reluctance struck Kimi as suspicious. Why was he so determined to keep her away? The possibility that Alvin might be in serious trouble gnawed at her thoughts.
She had accepted Alvin as family, which meant his problems were her problems too.
Kimi stared straight ahead through the windshield, crossing her arms defiantly across her chest.
"Not happening. Start the engine because I'm not moving."
