Chapter 153 - Bedroom Reconciliation and a Vow of Loyalty

The door closed behind me with a soft click. Rhys didn't say a word as he walked to the window, his back to me. Moonlight spilled through the glass, casting silver light across his bare shoulders. The tension in the room was almost tangible.

My heart pounded in my chest as I stood there, taking in the sight of him—proud, hurt, and unbearably beautiful. This was my mate. My Alpha. And I'd wounded him.

"Rhys," I whispered, my voice barely audible in the quiet room.

He didn't respond. His shoulders remained rigid, his hands gripping the windowsill so tightly I could see the tension in his forearms.

I took a deep breath and crossed the room. Standing directly behind him, I hesitated for just a moment before wrapping my arms around his waist. I pressed my cheek against his warm back, feeling his muscles tense beneath my touch.

"I'm sorry," I said, my words muffled against his skin. "I didn't mean to push you away like that."
