"Spider-Man! Die!"
Jonah Jameson, with a camera in the passenger seat pointed at himself, looked at Spider-Man in a daze and asked, "You even have a grudge with an alien creature?"
"I took him out yesterday at the docks—I think twice—but his alien god master resurrected him."
Peter squinted as he watched Riot approach. Jameson looked thoughtful. "You seem to know a lot, Spider-Man. Do the Avengers know, too?"
"Know? Yes, but I can't tell you, Jonah. Not because I don't want to, but to ensure the safety of ordinary people."
"Damn it! Tell me now, Spider-Man! I have a right, people have a right to know the truth!"
"Then you'll have to get the government to reveal the truth about the human experiments in the Hudson River first, Jonah. Otherwise, I can guarantee your broadcast signal will be cut immediately. You have to decide for yourself whether to report the current truth or hear the truth alone."
Jonah Jameson could clearly feel that Spider-Man was threatening him, but the threat didn't come from Spider-Man or the Avengers; it came from their own government. The U.S. military and the government were hiding something, and Spider-Man's hint suggested that this alien invasion was linked to the illegal human experiments the U.S. military was conducting at the bottom of the Hudson River.
In truth... the connection wasn't huge, but it wasn't non-existent, either. The fact that Riot and the others were released by Doctor Octopus certainly had something to do with the U.S. military.
After a moment of silence, Jameson suddenly began to yell at Spider-Man. "Spider-Man! Turn the camera! Show the audience something meaningful!"
"Alright, viewers, this is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. As you can see, J. Jonah Jameson is doing a show with his least favorite special guest—'The Great Escape.' I'll be fighting the monster, and Jonah will be driving until he's safe. So now—let the games begin!"
Peter said this in a rapid-fire manner as Riot charged towards them. But Riot was hit by Peter's bio-electricity. After a flash of brilliant white lightning, Riot fell onto the road, but he quickly got up and charged again.
Riot currently had no host and was in a purely symbiote state. This meant that the move Peter used against him before was useless. Combined with Riot's own powerful resistance and his exaggerated stats that could rival the current Spider-Man, this was going to be a difficult fight.
Or so it should have been.
Riot took long strides, his running speed no less than Jonah's old car. Peter shot a web and pulled a giant TV off a wall, slamming it onto Riot. Riot quickly pushed the debris aside and continued to follow. Jameson saw this in his rearview mirror and couldn't help but exclaim, "Good heavens, Spider-Man, do you have to cause so much destruction every time you fight?"
"Money is never more important than human lives, Jonah!"
He pulled an unattended car from the roadside and threw it at Riot. After a burst of explosions, Riot continued to charge at him. Peter took a deep breath. It was bad luck to run into this guy. He was immune to both soft and hard attacks.
"Spider-Man, he's getting close!"
"I know, Jonah!"
Seeing Riot about to close in, Peter once again pulled out the Dragonfang Sword. The sharp magical weapon sliced Riot in half. No blood splattered. The two symbiote masses simply began to merge and regenerate before continuing their charge.
Jonah was stunned. "Is that the T-1000?!"
"Well, do you know where there's a sulfuric acid pit to deal with this thing? If not..." Peter didn't finish his sentence because a few passing Ultron bots, with their heat rays and sonic cannons, blocked Riot's path. Peter paused for a moment, then squatted in the back seat and gave Jameson directions. "Go to the Avengers Tower, Jonah. The survivors who couldn't be evacuated are all there."
"I don't run from a fight, Spider-Man."
"I'm not asking you to run. On the contrary, the enemy is attacking the Avengers Tower right now."
In the distance, in front of the Avengers Tower, the Human Torch and Living Lightning were firing flames at a pitch-black dragon. Goliath made himself gigantic to stop the dragon from getting closer, and Iceman created chains to slow its movements. The others were also attacking, trying to hold the enemy back.
But it all seemed to be useless. The dragon continued to flap its wings, slowly approaching the Avengers Tower.
An idea formed in J. Jonah Jameson's mind.
Can the Avengers win?
Outside the universe, there exist different dimensions. Some dimensions have masters, civilizations, or even a kingdom.
For example, Asgard.
Asgard was as magnificent as ever, a golden realm where its people lived carefree and happy lives, with one exception.
A black-haired goddess walked to the balcony and looked at Thor, who had his hand on the railing, and asked, "You... you seem to be so gloomy, Thor."
"I'm just worried about Midgard, Sif," Thor said. He held a cup of mead, but he hadn't taken a single sip. "The turmoil in Midgard over the past few years has surpassed the total of the last thousand years. I have a feeling something terrible is about to happen there."
"But you've said that Midgard has great warriors you can trust, haven't you?"
Sif didn't finish her thought. What she really wanted to ask was whether he was worried about Midgard or about that mortal woman named Jane Foster.
"Yes, the Avengers will protect Earth, but I'm constantly wondering if they need my help, but the Bifröst is still being repaired..."
A few months ago, Thor brought Loki and the Space Stone back from Earth. Odin used his great power and the power of the Space Stone to begin repairing the Bifröst. Once the repairs were complete, Asgard would be able to extend its influence to all Nine Realms again. But Thor was getting a little impatient.
"Thor, my brother."
A god in blue armor came up behind them. He had the same long golden hair as Thor. Thor looked at him with a little surprise. "Balder, what is it?"
"Father sent me to find you. The Bifröst has been repaired, and Midgard is under attack. He commands you to go to their aid, but you need to go to him first. Father has something to say to you."
Thor picked up the helmet from the railing and put it on, then reached out and summoned his hammer, Mjölnir.
"I'll go at once."
