"Spider-Man!"
Riot's heart was filled with hatred for Spider-Man—and for good reason. In theory, Spider-Man was no match for him. If it weren't for Spider-Man's bio-electricity, which could sever the connection between him and his host, he would never have lost. As for Hybrid's defeat, that was because Hybrid was just a contingency plan, and it was natural for it to have problems.
But if the link between him and his host hadn't been cut, who knows what the outcome would have been?
So, Riot was here for revenge. Now, he didn't have the "host" debuff and could confront Spider-Man without any reservations.
Peter had originally planned to go and help Thor, explain the situation, and then take the "big guy" to face Knull. But now there was no time for that. Riot's arms transformed into two massive blades, his tongue darted out, and he charged at Peter.
Peter shot webs from his wrists, sticking to Riot's blades. He then leaped into the air and kicked toward Riot. Riot watched Spider-Man seemingly seek his own death, anticipating his arrival, severing the webs with his blades, and attempting to slice Spider-Man in half.
But Spider-Man vanished, and Riot's blades hit nothing.
Peter went invisible and let go of the webs mid-air. He used his bio-electromagnetic field to "stick" himself to the floor, coming to a sudden stop. He then shot webs at Riot's legs and tugged, causing Riot to stumble and nearly fall.
Riot dropped to one knee, but he flexibly transformed his arms into two large hammers and slammed them onto the ground. The walls of the building cracked instantly. The invisible Peter jumped up to dodge, choosing to free-fall instead. He shot a web at Riot, and the immense gravitational acceleration yanked Riot down from mid-air. Both of them plummeted toward the ground. Riot extended his arms, embedding them into the buildings on either side, thinking he was safe. But then, his arms were sliced clean off, and he still crashed to the ground, creating a massive crater in the street.
As the smoke cleared, Riot was sprawled in the pit, looking like Yamcha.
"Stop faking it, Riot. I know a free-fall won't kill you." Peter said, shaking the Dragonfang sword in his hand. The magical weapon had granted him basic knowledge and techniques of swordsmanship. Of course, he couldn't compare to a master like Hawkeye, but Peter had both weapon skills and his Spider-Sense. Combining the two, his proficiency with the weapon was quite impressive.
"You knew you had no weapon, so you found one to deal with me?"
Riot laughed mockingly, and his hands regenerated quickly, forming a shield and a spear. He then charged directly at Peter.
"Do you really think a weapon will make a difference, Spider-Man?"
"This isn't just any weapon, Riot."
Dragonfang lightly parried the spear, then pierced through the shield made of symbiote biomass. Peter swept the sword horizontally, slicing the entire shield in two. "This is a divine artifact."
Riot was strong, but he wasn't immortal. Peter knew this very well. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been afraid of the high-energy rays from the Iron Spider suit, nor would he have been killed by a S.H.I.E.L.D. bomb. It was just that Peter didn't have a weapon of that much power on hand right now.
However, he had a special way to eliminate Riot.
With each attack from Dragonfang, Riot was continuously cut, losing parts of himself. Eventually, his original height of over six feet shrunk to about four and a half feet, forcing him to look up to fight Spider-Man. Peter, seizing the opportunity, was just about to unleash Venom when his Spider-Sense suddenly blared. He instinctively dodged.
It turned out that the pieces of Riot's biomass he had cut off were still under Riot's control. They had transformed into sharp spikes and were now flying toward Peter.
Peter, of course, wasn't hit. But at that moment, Riot extended his arm and grabbed the tip of Dragonfang. He knew very well that Spider-Man was relying on this divine artifact to fight him. If he could get his hands on it, couldn't he destroy Spider-Man?
"I'll take that!"
"Sorry, but this isn't your delivery!"
More and more biomass returned to Riot's body, and his strength gradually returned to its original state. He wrestled with Peter for the sword. In the end, they both pulled at the same time, neither of them getting the sword. Dragonfang flew out and embedded itself in a nearby wall. Both people, exhausted from the tug-of-war, fell to the ground.
"Alright, buddy, Plan B! I'll get you some extra chocolate later."
[It's going to taste terrible.]
Venom said, liberating himself. The massive, ten-foot-tall creature crawled to its feet, roared at Riot, and charged. Riot charged back without hesitation, and the two collided, their fingers locked in a test of strength. Venom looked at the six-foot-tall Riot in front of him and couldn't help but mock him. "Ha, look at you, still so small."
"Poor Venom, so big, yet you only have the strength of someone half your size."
Venom narrowed his eyes and stared at Riot. "Let's see, old man."
The two were locked in a stalemate, but Riot looked at Venom with great confidence. The reason was simple: they could both hear the noise of the symbiote minions, and they were getting closer and closer.
"I win—Aaaahhhh!!!"
A sharp divine sword pierced through Riot's body, causing him to lose strength for a moment. Venom seized the opportunity, grabbed Riot by the shoulder, lifted him, and bit off his head. Riot turned into a puddle of goo, which Venom then shoved into his mouth.
Dragonfang clattered to the ground. Cindy looked on, a bit bewildered. She watched the Venom revert to Spider-Man, and in her confusion, she blurted out a question that even she found strange: "How did it taste?"
"I don't know. Usually, Venom doesn't share taste with me so I don't get tired of chocolate," Peter said, taking the sword from Cindy. "Thanks, Cindy... How did you get here?"
"I sensed that your movements hadn't changed, and I was worried something might have happened to you, so..."
"I'm fine."
As soon as Peter finished speaking, he clutched his chest. He felt something was wrong. Then, as if sensing something, he asked, disbelievingly.
"I... no, Venom absorbed Riot and stole Riot's Codex?"
