Chapter 223 - Chapter 223: The Symbiote Swarm - The Final Battle!

A knight in ancient armor, riding atop a giant dragon, brandished a sharp sword, striking at the monstrous, ferocious-looking giant with bared fangs.

This was the initial impression of the fight between Venom and Grendel. There was no other way to describe it; even the symbiote-enhanced Spider-Man already looked a little "corrupted." Venom, however, was a far more terrifying monster, and compared to the handsome black dragon, he had no aesthetic advantages at all.

But this didn't stop Venom from charging at Grendel and landing a punch.

"Aha, an uppercut!"

Venom slammed a fist into Grendel's face. To say that Riot's codex brought nothing to Venom wouldn't be the truth.

For example, the combat techniques Riot had acquired from Ward were mostly useless to Riot himself. However, these memories and skills were incredibly beneficial to Peter and Venom, who had only received basic training from Uncle Ben and a short period of training from Captain America. The close-quarters combat skills of a top-tier S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent, second only to Hawkeye and Black Widow, were on full display, as Venom relentlessly pounded Grendel.

Venom wasn't the only one trying to beat up Grendel. Hulk also charged in, landing a punch directly on Grendel's stomach. Grendel roared in pain and appeared to be in great agony before swiping at the Hulk with a claw. The Hulk was sent flying, and after a furious roar, he prepared to charge again.

"Stop, Hulk, don't charge in!"

Tony, who was in a stalemate with Symbiote Captain America, yelled at the Hulk. The Hulk turned and pointed at the big beast. "Why?"

"What if you kill it?!"

Yes, that was the problem now. The Avengers were afraid to go all out. What if Grendel was killed by Venom?

In fact, the situation was more complicated. Since the symbiote ocean had flooded Manhattan, almost no one had seen Knull. Only Grendel had appeared. Knull was supposed to be the master, so why was only a dragon-like beast roaring here?

The answer was obvious. Knull didn't intend to fight back. If the Avengers swarmed Grendel and killed it, Knull would simply be able to resurrect it. If Grendel was consumed by Venom...

Did Knull have a plan for that, too? Otherwise, why wouldn't he fight with all his might?

The Hulk grunted in frustration and went to hassle Symbiote Colossus and Symbiote Wolverine instead. There were plenty of corrupted allies around, so it was a good time for a little payback.

Venom had already started to try and eat Grendel. He bit into the dragon's neck, savagely tearing off a large chunk of symbiote flesh and swallowing it. But Grendel was still alive, which meant Venom wouldn't be able to finish it in three minutes.

Thor's lightning began to rain down, striking every corner of Manhattan and wiping out the symbiote ocean, but it studiously avoided Grendel. Thor never doubted his ability to kill the symbiote dragon; he was just waiting for the right moment.

After fighting the dragon for over a minute, Venom unleashed a high-voltage bio-electrical current from his hands, grabbing and tearing off one of Grendel's wings. The electrified claws inflicted what looked like significant damage, but Grendel's black flames made the non-resistant Venom howl in pain.

The pathetic "Haki-Venom" was thrown against a building. Luckily, buildings in reality were much sturdier than the cardboard sets used in movies. Venom stood up, checked the time, and seeing there was only a minute left, he roared at Grendel. His entire body began to surge with bio-electricity, shimmering with a hint of Thor's power.

Thor, who had been having fun zapping symbiote waves all over the city, let out a hearty laugh. He raised Mjolnir, pouring an endless stream of lightning into Venom. In an instant, Venom's surface almost boiled. Venom endured the pain and stood firm, forming a cross with his arms as a massive flood of divine lightning collided with the black flames Grendel was spewing.

"This, this is just... this is too bizarre."

Jonah Jameson, reporting on the fight of the century, wiped his hair. He couldn't stay serious as he looked at Grendel on the left side of the screen and Venom on the right. He couldn't help but ask the audience, "Is this Godzilla?"

No, this is Ultraman fighting a monster.

Gwen, who had been watching Jameson's live broadcast, couldn't help but sigh. She knew Peter liked live-action shows, but she never imagined he'd perform one on a global live broadcast. It was just too ridiculous.

She had been worrying about Peter for nothing!

"It's okay, Aunt May, Peter will be fine. He called this morning to say he was rescued by the Avengers."

"But... oh, what was that child doing in some laboratory yesterday?"

Aunt May looked at the live broadcast with a worried expression. Uncle Ben and Gwen were by her side. More than Peter, Gwen was worried about her father, Captain George, who was still in Manhattan, holding his post, with his current status unknown.

But it looked like the Avengers were winning.

"Enough!"

The roar didn't come from Knull, but from the sudden appearance of Doctor Strange. He had stayed out of the battle to constantly monitor Grendel's state with the Eye of Agamotto, preventing it from being killed outright. Venom heard the command and immediately stopped his attack, then charged at Grendel. He opened his giant maw and bit off the half-dead Grendel's head, then quickly tore the rest of Grendel apart, swallowing it bit by bit. In about half a minute, Venom had somehow managed to consume a symbiote dragon almost his own size.

Then, with a little help from Pym Particles, Venom returned to his original size. Thor and Strange approached the normal-sized Venom, but Strange raised a hand, stopping Thor from getting closer.

"Just a little more, Thor, just a little more."

Venom let out an unconscious, beast-like roar. The white spider logo on his chest turned red, the same as the one on Knull's armor. A pair of giant wings made of symbiote material grew from his back, and his entire body began to deform irregularly.

"Spider-Man needs to suppress Knull's will in the end. Only then will everything be a success."
