Chapter 307 - Chapter 307: Weapon Hidden in the Mouth

As Spider-Man free-fell, Venom simply took over his consciousness, choosing to drop down to continue chasing the Lizard. Peter, after a brief flash in his brain, recovered.

"Are you okay, Peter?"

[I'm fine, it's just that the timing of this crossover is bad. I still haven't saved Connors yet...]

Peter knew which world that was—Earth-65, a universe where a spider bit Gwen Stacy instead of Peter Parker, and where the 'Spider-Gwen' was popular as long as she didn't date a certain someone.

After a brief complaint, Peter switched back. At this moment, a huge cruise ship passed by, broadcasting the Daily Bugle news hosted by J. Jonah Jameson.

"Spider-Man is a shameless scoundrel! He arbitrarily used Daily Bugle property without any notification. As the CEO of the Daily Bugle, I must solemnly state here: the Daily Bugle did not lend its helicopter crew to Spider-Man to pursue the Lizard!"

"Even if Tony Stark gave the Daily Bugle money right now, I would still say that Spider-Man used the Daily Bugle's helicopter without! any! prior! permission! This is shameful theft! It's an illegal act!"

"Seriously, Jonah, can't you come up with a better idea?" Peter shot another web that stuck directly beneath the Daily Bugle's helicopter. "Like protesting that the New York City Council hasn't set up any 'Little Spider Anchor Points' on the Hudson River?"

"I still have to be careful not to yank your helicopter down!"

The Lizard quickly dashed and submerged underwater. Peter simply let go of the web, spread his arms, and allowed Venom to form web wings under his armpits. He glided to pursue, all while sensing the flashing signal inside his brain—another Earth was urgently calling for him, that world was seeking his help.

"Almost done! God, can't you give me some time, Web of Destiny?!"

[I suspect it's an automatic warning system with no human touch.]

"Really? Wasn't there a weaving goddess who wove the Web of Destiny? Is she skipping work?"

Just as he was about to catch up to the Lizard lurking underwater, the Lizard suddenly flashed away, submerged beneath a speedboat, then flipped the entire speedboat over and slammed it towards Spider-Man.

Peter reacted quickly, first flipping over and gliding underneath the speedboat, while simultaneously firing webs from both hands to hook the speedboat, pulling it back and setting it back on the water's surface. He then stepped onto the speedboat, ensuring it landed safely. He used Venom's symbiote tentacles to grab the people who had fallen off the speedboat, bringing them all back aboard, and used a web to stick to the steering lever, turning off the speedboat's engine.

"Alright, gentlemen, you're safe. Hope you enjoyed the Lizard Pirate Ship."

Several crew members rushed to the railing and started throwing up violently into the Hudson River. They couldn't even manage a thank you, so they just kept retching while giving a thumbs-up to show their gratitude. As for Peter, he continued his pursuit.

"Connors is getting more dangerous. Any further and he might really cause casualties—I mean, ordinary people casualties."

[Perhaps that's our problem.]

Peter paused, "What are you saying?"

[We are too strong. Even a Super Lizard Man with Erskine's Serum plus Lizard DNA is no match for us and only dares to flee. So we should show weakness, make ourselves a bit weaker, so the bad guy dares to confront us.]

"We still have to consider stronger enemies, though."

Feeling the increasingly urgent call from the Multiverse, Peter finally caught the Lizard. He landed on the Lizard's shoulder, and symbiote tentacles extended from his shoulder, prying open the Lizard's jaw, then attempting to shove the antidote serum inside. But the Lizard performed a Divine Dragon Sways Its Tail move, clamping his jaws down to prevent it all, and continued to maneuver rapidly in the river.

[We need to get him onto the shore.]

Four symbiote tentacles extended from Peter's back and stuck to the riverbank on one side. At the same time, he held the Lizard's neck. The Lizard used all his strength to twist his neck back towards the other side. Finally, with a crack, the Lizard went limp, and both of them flew towards the warehouse on the bank. Peter slammed heavily onto the ground, watching the Lizard—whose neck was clearly broken—still stand up, even snapping his neck back into place with a clear sound.

He felt the call from the Multiverse getting closer.

"Okay, almost done. Leave a message, I'll be right there, stop rushing me, whoa!"

Peter, having just stood up, was suddenly assaulted by the massive, four-meter-plus-tall Lizard. In a moment of panic, he only had time to cover the Lizard's mouth to prevent being bitten.

However, green smoke puffed out of the Lizard's mouth, and Peter saw shards of glass inside.

The Lizard had been hiding a vial of serum in his mouth, reserving it for this very moment.

"Venom!"

[It's okay, it's okay, I'm capturing every molecule of the Lizard's serum. Not a single drop will enter your bloodstream. You continue. Oh, I might be useless for a bit. Wait, here's the serum.]

With the four tentacles firmly controlling the Lizard's limbs, Peter changed his posture, using one foot to replace his hand, locking the Lizard's neck. He then shoved the serum into the Lizard's mouth and activated it. Accompanied by a burst of blue smoke, the Lizard seemed to absorb the smoke and began stumbling backward.

Peter stood up. He felt a bit dizzy, wondering if it was because of the Lizard's serum.

He looked at the Lizard's face, noticing a part of his face had disappeared and was rapidly regenerating. Peter looked around in confusion, unsure what caused this. He swung his hand, inadvertently tearing open a spatial rift.

[Is this just the time being up, or did that smoke cause your abilities to go haywire?]

"I don't know. I've never responded to a call this late before."

The antidote serum was working. The Lizard's size began to shrink rapidly, and his reptilian features receded. But when he shrunk to just over two meters tall, the reversal suddenly stopped. This was logical; the Lizard had also been injected with Erskine's Serum, so it wouldn't be cured by a simple antidote.

But seeing Connors' demeanor gradually returning to normal, Peter chose to try and reason with him first: "Dr. Connors, we can cure you. The serum is working, see?"

The Lizard felt confusion, then recollection, and finally pain. But Peter's condition was worsening, so he had no choice but to use webs to secure Connors and step into the spatial rift he had opened.

"I, I have to go now. I might not even have time to make a call. The Avengers will be here in a minute at most. If you can remember this, Connors, tell the Avengers. Even if you don't, Cindy or Reed should be able to figure it out."

Finally, the Lizard's expression changed to one of confusion and ferocity. He watched Spider-Man walk into the spatial rift, then his vertical pupils sharply widened as he watched the spatial rift completely engulf both himself and parts of the surrounding dock rubble.
