Chapter 310 - Chapter 310: S.H.I.E.L.D. of Earth-65

It was true that the Spider-Totem of Earth-65 was only Gwen; Peter knew this. But that didn't mean Gwen was the only person on Earth-65 with spider-powers.

Gwen was certainly the only person on Earth-65 to become a Spider-Totem after being bitten by a mutated spider, but that wasn't the only way to gain spider-abilities. As far as Peter knew, the nature of the radioactive spider on Earth-65 originated from an alien spider-like parasite. This parasite had a viscous blood, and based on the special toxicity of this blood, Osborn Technologies developed the first radioactive spider.

That spider nearly bit Cindy Moon of Earth-65, but her parents were quick-thinking and killed it with a newspaper.

Later, Cindy Moon was told by Dr. Connors of Osborn Technologies that the spider could have either killed her or given her spider-powers. Even later, during a space mission, Earth-65 agent Jesse Drew (the male counterpart of 616's Jessica Drew) was attacked by these alien spiders and infected by their toxic blood.

The Cindy of this universe, however, used the blood of this alien spider to develop an isotopic serum that could temporarily grant others spider-powers. She tricked Agent Jesse into believing he needed continuous injections of this serum to survive, thereby controlling him. The two secretly formed the technological terrorist organization "S.I.L.K." to steal various technological achievements.

The second radioactive spider was the result of Cindy's research, and this spider eventually bit Gwen at a science exhibit.

"Wait, so the Cindy of this world is ten years older than me?"

Peter didn't immediately reveal all the information he knew. Instead, he began analyzing the situations of Earth-65 and Earth-616, combined with his "precognitive dreams," step by step, and offered the next piece of intelligence: "And the Connors Formula that Dr. Connors researched..."

"That's the serum formula that turned Peter—I mean, my Peter—into the Lizard."

Short-haired Gwen revealed the fragments of information she occasionally knew, explaining things that somewhat aligned: "But the problem is that after Peter died, he disappeared, very mysteriously. Also, what do you mean, 'ten years older'? Are you saying I'm the same age as that 'old lady' in your world?"

Since when is 26 an 'old lady'...? Peter muttered to himself, before continuing: "Yes, we're the same age. And we were bitten by the same spider."

"And she can sense Peter's location, his health, and things like that."

Short-haired Gwen could detect the sourness in her long-haired self's words. Unfortunately, she didn't know the full story of the situation over there, so she couldn't offer any romantic advice. Besides, she herself had never been in a relationship; what could she say?

"So..."

"First, regardless of why this universe called me, I definitely have to call Connors back. My suit can still connect to the tracker on his tail. It looks like different world's Tony Starks use the same device, which makes things a lot easier."

Peter said this as he picked up his equipment and started locating the signal. He continued: "Uh, while I don't want to overstate it, every time I cross over, the local Spider-Totem tends to run into some trouble."

"It's fine, I'm not afraid of trouble. My life is already a complete mess, actually."

Peter didn't say much more. He glanced at the time on the computer and put it away: "Okay, I'll leave a communicator. If anything happens, be sure to contact me. And if a group called the Web-Warriors comes over and tries to recruit you, absolutely do not agree. They are a classic team of bad guys."

"Wait? You're leaving already?"

"What else?" Peter countered. "What do you think your father would think if he saw a living Peter Parker?"

"..."

In the end, short-haired Gwen could only bid farewell to her long-haired self and the Peter Parker from the other world. She sat on the sofa and began contemplating her life.

She had always thought being bitten by a spider was the most outrageous and unbelievable thing she would ever experience, but she didn't expect things could get even more bizarre and ridiculous. Another version of herself—it sounded completely absurd and nonsensical, but it seemed to be the truth, along with a Peter Parker from another world...

A ridiculous idea suddenly struck her: If I call Peter's phone number right now, would the Peter from the other world answer?

She didn't know.

"They're only passing through, Gwen. Focus on yourself. Figure out what you should do. Dad's coming back; you still have to listen to his nagging."

Meanwhile, to cover their tracks, Peter simply web-slung with Gwen, gliding through the air while using his invisibility power. The environment of Earth-65 was far more hostile than Earth-616. In this world, Tony Stark was an arms dealer, Daredevil was a lawyer working for criminals, Bruce Banner was a master manipulator, and the Invisible Woman Sue Storm seduced and then killed Doctor Doom to gain her superpowers.

Captain America was a woman named Samantha Wilson, and her male clone was Sam Wilson—yes, the Falcon...

By any measure, this was a very troublesome universe.

"So, where are we going?"

"Straight to Connors. His movement track is highly irregular; his altitude is climbing too fast. Either someone carried him up there, or he grew wings."

And the latter was completely impossible, Peter thought.

After swinging to the vicinity of the signal, Peter had Venom sprout wings. The two quickly took flight and ascended. He had Venom cover Gwen's face to prevent oxygen deprivation. In an area that looked like nothing, Peter activated his thermal imaging and immediately located a stealth-mode Helicarrier flying in the sky. He landed directly, opened a door on the floating aircraft carrier at tens of thousands of feet, and politely closed it.

In an instant, he was surrounded by a large group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents with guns raised.

"Hello, friends. I'm Spider-Man from Earth-616, and this is my friend, uh, Ghost."

Peter hastily had Venom steal some material from the Helicarrier and mold an ugly mask for Gwen to wear. Gwen, who couldn't see the mask, simply stood beside Peter and listened as he continued: "I know you're protecting the safety of this world, and coincidentally, a dangerous criminal from my world has fallen into yours. He's called the Lizard. I believe you should know where he is?"

"Put your guns down."

A woman wearing an eye-patch walked toward Peter and Gwen, stating her demand: "Prove you are not an enemy, Spider... Man."
