Chapter 324 - Chapter 324: Lord of Limbo

My name is Belasco, from the 13th century of Earth-616, known as the great black magic sorcerer, the Corruptor, and now the Lord of Limbo (also called the Hell Dimension). Right now, I am boredly observing Illyana Rasputin, codename Magik, the mutant from the entire multiverse, scurrying around in her various homes. The mutant ability these young girls awaken is teleportation, but in reality, their teleportation is a jump from their reality to Limbo, and then a jump back to their own universe.

Oh, you ask what Limbo is? In the past, there was once an incredibly vast dimension, representing the Dark Dimension. This dimension was shattered in an unknown battle, splitting into countless small dimensions imbued with dark corruption. One of these fragments is called Limbo, and I am its master.

Actually, only a small number of Magiks discover that their teleportation ability is actually passing through Limbo, accidentally entering it during transit. Most Magiks think their teleportation is instantaneous, merely a flash in Limbo before they leave this place.

Those Magiks who accidentally entered Limbo and their respective universes didn't fare very well.

At this moment, I am bored. Extremely bored.

I want to go home.

But I can't.

Back in the day, I was a grand black magic sorcerer. I worshiped the great God of Black Magic, Chthon. I contacted the great Chthon, received his blessing, and became the first human to be transformed into a demon. I also obtained the method to summon him back to reality. I only needed five Bloodstones and a ritual to bring the great God of Black Magic back to his faithful Prime Earth (Earth-616)!

But my magnificent plan was discovered by the minstrel Dante. That bastard stopped my grand plan and banished me to this godforsaken place, Limbo.

But I am unyielding! I became the Lord of Limbo! A Dimensional God!

Damn the reality barrier of Earth-616, it's so thick, I can't go back!

Belasco, the Lord of Limbo, sighed in resignation and stood up. At his feet lay the corpses of X-Men. They came from different universes, and those who died at his feet were great warriors. Some X-Men chose to cling to life, but the environment of Limbo gradually demonized them, eventually corrupting them into parts of this world. Still others could not resist him and became his loyal hounds and army.

Only one small regret: in my collection, I don't have a single living Illyana Rasputin. They're all dead.

When will I ever get a live Magik?

Belasco, suffering from a pure collector's urge, stroked his chin. His face still retained human features to some extent. Aside from turning a blood-red color, growing a pair of small red horns, and his hair turning completely red, he didn't look drastically different from a human. However, the part of him below the neck was truly horrifying—a torso with no skin, just blood-red muscle that emitted hot steam.

A piece of unknown upper human skin had been cut open and fashioned into a vest draped over Belasco's shoulders, with two arms resting on his own. Belasco's belt was made from the lower half of that person's skin. Considering Belasco's own skin was missing, it was possible this outfit was made from his own hide.

"A guest. How rare." Belasco looked ahead. Accompanied by a ripple of spatial distortion, a man wearing green robes and a purple cloak stepped into Limbo. Belasco looked at the man's ridiculous crown, suddenly raised an eyebrow, and smiled.

"How interesting, guest. You are from Earth-616, the Prime Earth, the Main Universe. And you don't possess magic at all."

He raised his hand, stopping the eager Demon Wolverine from ripping the newcomer to shreds, and looked at the man with curiosity: "You are not the first visitor here. Someone named... Victor Von Doom once came. Also from 616. He stole a large batch of Promethium from me and took it back to power his little nation indefinitely."

Belasco was actually gnashing his teeth when talking about Doom. It should be noted that the flow of time in Limbo is variable. He had actually been here for tens of thousands of years. He finally met a sorcerer from Earth-616, and that guy not only ignored him but dared to attack him with magic.

And then he actually ran away!

A Dimensional God's blessing is something you don't want? Are you even a proper sorcerer!

But that didn't stop him from cheerfully trying to manipulate this new guest.

"I call myself the In-Betweener, the one who conquers Time. I discovered this place from the edge of Limbo, where time is almost stagnant. I have come seeking your help, Belasco."

The green-robed sorcerer with the purple cloak spoke in riddles more cryptic than Belasco the demon, causing Belasco to frown. But the next words from the man cheered him up: "I request that you invade Earth-616."

"...Why?"

"The Avengers obtained a list from another multiverse. They are attempting to alter a predetermined destiny, and I, the In-Betweener, must ensure that the future proceeds along its destined timeline. They are my enemies."

Understood. A time traveler. No wonder he doesn't care about the present. Belasco nodded, but he ran into an awkward problem.

The newcomer arrived in Limbo using technology, but Belasco was already a Dimensional God—a magical entity—and couldn't use the man's technology to penetrate Earth-616's reality barrier.

"Can you take me back to Earth-616?"

"No."

"..."

"But I can help you tear open a fissure between Limbo and Earth-616—a fissure large enough to bring one person through. As far as I know, you need five Earth-616 Bloodstones. You already lost one, so you only have four now."

This time traveler knows a lot.

Belasco frowned. As a Dimensional God, his own existence in time was non-linear, so he wasn't afraid of the time traveler's so-called predetermined future. But this guy didn't say how to get to Earth-616; only that he could open a fissure to bring someone through...

Bring someone through?

Belasco suddenly burst into a smile.

"At the time you wish me to invade, how old is Illyana Rasputin?"

"Twelve years old. She has not yet awakened her mutant abilities."

Belasco's smile was satisfied.

"Excellent, In-Betweener. Open a gate for me at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. You don't need to worry about the rest."

"It's time to tell Earth that hell is full."
