Peter, Ororo (Storm), and King T'Challa arrived at the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Somewhat to Peter's surprise, T'Challa, the King of Wakanda, was quite invested in the mutant academy.
"The number of super-powered individuals is increasing not just in America, but globally, Spider-Man."
T'Challa always wore a gentle smile, failing to project the majesty of a monarch, seeming more like a kind school teacher. "Although Wakanda's population is only a few million, and we don't clearly distinguish between mutants and ordinary people, an academy dedicated to training young superhumans is a facility that holds valuable lessons for Wakanda."
Just earlier, the Avengers had collectively gone out to "bully" the Stilt-Man. It's hard to imagine the sheer terror faced by a villain who relies on a pair of boots that can extend and retract his armor for robbery.
First, he was warned by the tiny Wasp. Before he could laugh, Captain America and Black Panther stood before him. He stumbled back in fear, leaning against the cross-armed Hulk.
He then bolted, extending his stilts to their maximum height, only to crash into a giant-sized Ant-Man. Turning back, he nearly fell over after encountering Thor and Iron Man flying toward him—only to be caught by Spider-Man.
By the time Stilt-Man's equipment was dismantled and he was put into an NYPD police car, he was completely dazed. The Avengers, conversely, were in high spirits, laughing heartily like a group of villains.
Peter then traveled to the Xavier Academy with the Black Panther and Storm.
"Cyclops mentioned that because most mutants have chosen to settle in Genosha, the school has far fewer students than before." Peter, who had visited the academy several times, introduced its history to the royal couple. He was even able to give them a rundown on the situation in Genosha.
"Magneto practices autocratic rule in Genosha, but honestly, I think he's quite competent, which is why the mutants have managed to cohere."
At least as far as the current situation in Genosha goes, mutants do not oppose Magneto's decisions. As for Magneto's conviction that humanity will inevitably wage war against mutants, that remains pure speculation, which the Avengers are trying their best to prevent.
With the re-election of President Matthew Ellis, the anti-mutant Republican Congressmen lost much of their power. For the next four years, at least, the American government is inclined to support the superheroes.
As they chatted, Peter and the others approached the Xavier Academy, but as soon as they got close, they heard a sharp, authoritative command: "Stop!"
Blocking Peter and his companions was a group of students—exactly five of them, all strangely dressed. The leading boy looked normal, but among the others, one resembled a sharp, rocky version of the Thing, and another's skin was metallic silver.
There were two more: a girl dressed in a long black robe and veil, like someone from the Middle East, covering her body, and a final boy who looked timid and stood at the back, wearing gloves.
"The Academy does not welcome you, Avengers. This is a mutant school."
Black Panther was somewhat surprised by the students' exclusiveness, while Storm was already frowning with displeasure. As for Peter, after thinking for a moment, he suddenly realized: "You guys are the Hellions Squad, right? The students Ms. Emma brought back from the Massachusetts Academy, correct?"
That made sense. This was the team that had been constantly clashing with the New Mutants squad.
Storm looked visibly relieved upon hearing this news. She knew the students the academy took in wouldn't be this hostile; it had to be that Emma Frost's doing.
Peter was about to offer an explanation, but Black Panther pulled Peter back, smiling: "Don't worry, Spider-Man. Ororo can certainly teach these young people a valuable lesson."
"Are you truly not going to move?" Storm asked with a smile, but the leader of the group was taken aback and retorted, "What do you mean? Are you planning to break in?"
"I'm afraid so. Firstly, this is no way to treat guests."
Ororo advanced as she spoke. The leading young man shouted, "Rockslide, stop them!" The student who resembled a sharp-edged rock stepped forward to block Ororo.
In a sense, these young people were cautious. They didn't intend to start a real fight; they just wanted to block the entrance. However, Storm seemed intent on teaching them a lesson.
"Actually, if I just told them Cyclops invited us, they'd probably let us through."
"This is Ororo's home, Spider-Man. Anyone who comes home and is blocked by children who don't know them will be a little annoyed. Besides, Ororo is the storm. The storm isn't known for its good temper."
Peter didn't actually recognize most of the members of the Hellions squad. He only recognized three of them, and he didn't even know Rockslide's real name. Rockslide's power, which looked like he had turned into another Thing, was actually that he became a mental entity controlling rock. The stone body was just a shell; he would survive even if it were blown up or dismantled.
The girl dressed like someone from the Middle East seemed to be called Dust? Her power? A low-grade version of Sandman. He could only remember her because she'd appeared in a cartoon.
The only person in the entire team who needed attention was the young man who had been speaking, Julian Keller, codenamed Hellion. He was actually an Omega-Level mutant. His Omega-Level power was in telekinetic control. His ability for mental communication and reading minds was average, and he had no capability for mind control.
T'Challa smiled, watching Storm walk toward the academy entrance. The bulky mutant codenamed Rockslide approached Ororo. He had just managed to say, "I'm sorry, ma'am," when Ororo pushed him dozens of meters away with one hand, then wrapped him in a gust of wind, forcing him to stand upright.
Julian was utterly shocked. He ordered his teammates to attack the "intruders." Dust turned into a flurry of sand, but she was quickly swept away by the wind. The same happened to the other girl, who could transform herself into liquid mercury. As for the last guy with the gloves, he didn't even make a move.
Green telekinetic shields appeared around Julian, as he attempted to use his powers defensively, but he was no match for the wind, which directly tripped him and sent him tumbling to the ground.
"You have a good grasp of your powers, but your manners for receiving guests are truly terrible, children." Storm stopped, looking at the Hellions she had so easily defeated. "I am Ororo Munroe, your future teacher."
