Chapter 415 - Chapter 415: Roman Holiday

The greatest advantage of being a thief is that, firstly, you won't get stolen from, and secondly, you can steal from others.

Undoubtedly, Felicia belonged to the type whose hands weren't exactly clean. She had not only prevented her own wallet from being swiped but had also pocketed quite a bit of pocket change from the pockets of other thieves. Naturally, she had no intention of returning the money.

Of course, being a thief had its downsides, namely being watched.

At this very moment, Silver Sable was watching her from not far away.

"You're wearing a trench coat over your combat suit? Do you really not feel hot?" Felicia completely ignored Sable's presence, first picking out gifts in a souvenir shop to see if there was anything worth bringing back. "Or do you actually have no private life? Are you immersed in training and combat twenty-four hours a day?"

"My power comes from training, not a simple little vial. Therefore, I don't have as much free time for entertainment as you people do." Though Sable was wearing her suit under the coat, she at least looked like an ordinary girl. "When the gap between you and your enemies widens, you realize the level you need to reach, and you seize every moment to improve yourself. For instance, if you had actually undergone specialized combat training, you wouldn't have failed to take down even a single member of the Serpent Society on the ship."

Felicia merely smiled, picking up a black cat pendant and examining it. "Or perhaps, my duty isn't combat. No one says a technician needs to fight, right?"

"Then what was your purpose for injecting the Super Soldier Serum?" Sable arched an eyebrow, looking at Felicia. If it were truly as Felicia said, shouldn't Black Cat have no need for any enhancement? After all, superheroes only need to fight, while super-thieves have far more things to consider.

Felicia raised her eyebrows and declined to answer the question. The two of them were hardly acquaintances; there was no need for Felicia to tell Sable that she had injected the Super Soldier Serum for the sake of revenge. No matter who did it, once she found that person, she would kill them without a moment's hesitation.

"It seems you really don't have much of a private life, putting everything into fighting and training. Why do you work so hard? To make money?"

Having paid for and taken the black cat pendant, Felicia asked back with a smile. Sable's response caught her off guard: "For revenge."

Felicia froze for a moment.

"When I was fifteen years old, my mother was assassinated. Because my father was in Europe executing a project to crack down on superhuman crime, unknown enemies were selling superhuman prisoners to terrorists as weapons. They were purged by the Wild Pack led by my father. In retaliation, this group attacked my home, intending to kill me and my mother. I was lucky and escaped the ordeal."

As Sable spoke, she tugged at her silver hair. "Before that day, my hair was still light blonde. Since then, it turned silver. It's not dyed."

"So..." Felicia roughly pieced it together. "After that, you didn't go to school but became a mercenary instead?"

"I demanded that my father train me, because I knew that an incompetent daughter would become his burden again. As long as I lacked the ability to protect myself, I might be attacked again. To protect me, my father would have to be distracted."

Sable looked at Felicia. "So I chose to become a soldier, a soldier specifically dedicated to countering superhumans. This is also why I haven't injected myself with any of the various superhuman products we've seized. I will not become the kind of person who killed my mother."

"I don't object to you superhumans doing some good, whether it's for money, pro bono, for fame, or just out of a simple desire to do something right. But please remember, I will always be watching you. The Wild Pack was established for one purpose and one purpose only: we will act as ordinary people to formulate countermeasures against superhumans."

"...So you really have no private life at all."

Felicia forced a smile and skipped over the topic, then asked about something else. "Then what about after you complete your revenge? Of course, even if you finish your revenge, you'll still have things to do, but you must have some thoughts of your own, right?"

Sable was silent for only a moment before giving her answer.

"I plan to go to university."

Felicia was stunned again. She turned to look at Sable, unsure whether the other woman had seen through something or was simply being earnest enough to answer any question. While she was still puzzled, Sable asked back, "What about you? Once you've completed your revenge, what do you plan to do?"

"I never said I wanted revenge."

"Then why did you inject the Super Soldier Serum?"

Felicia was stumped by the question and simply chose not to answer. After the two had walked another distance, Felicia still couldn't help asking, "Why have you been following me all this time?"

"To ensure you don't see things you shouldn't. The people Nick Fury sent have arrived, and he doesn't seem to trust you very much, so he had me keep an eye on you."

Hearing this, Felicia couldn't help but roll her eyes. Fine, Nick Fury again. It seemed the big shots always thought they could keep everything hidden.

She glanced at Sable and couldn't help but ask, "What about you? Don't you think this whole thing is strange? Maybe we should go see what Nick Fury and his boy scouts are actually up to."

"Don't underestimate Nick Fury. Although I don't think he's a particularly good person, one thing is for sure: Nick Fury is definitely not an easy man to deal with."

Does that even need to be said?

Felicia rolled her eyes internally, but she was already calculating how to shake Sable off. She probed once more: "What if? What if the matter they are investigating is related to your mother's death?"

"You can't be sure there's a connection."

"Maybe I can." Felicia's expression turned serious. "My father was killed while investigating the whereabouts of the Super Soldier Serum in Europe. I came here to investigate the cause of his death as well. And coincidentally, I know some things behind the scenes. So... perhaps we could go together?"

As Felicia spoke, she held out the black cat pendant in front of Sable.

"Interested in an adventure?"
