Chapter 482 - Chapter 482: Mister Sinister's Plan

Peter certainly wasn't going to summon Apocalypse on Earth-616; things hadn't reached that level of desperation yet. Furthermore, the Nimrod invading Earth-616 wasn't the local Nimrod; its main body resided on Earth-811.

His line of thinking was that if the Apocalypse of Earth-811 had never been awakened, he might serve as a major asset for the Earth-811 Resistance. As one of the most famous supervillains in the X-Men series, Apocalypse's power was beyond doubt—he was at least stronger than the comatose Professor X or Magneto, who was busy playing king.

Moreover, if the source of Nimrod's copied mutant abilities came from Rogue, then it faced a necessary condition: it had to physically touch the target to acquire their powers. In Peter's memory, Apocalypse possessed telekinesis and molecular control; with prior warning, Nimrod shouldn't be able to lay a finger on him.

Magneto was clearly very interested in this "Apocalypse" whom even Sinister feared so intensely. "Essex, you had best give a truthful account of who this so-called Apocalypse is, otherwise you will find no sanctuary here in Genosha."

"Apocalypse is the first mutant on Earth—not to say the first person to possess the X-Gene, but the first to manifest its abilities." Sinister spoke honestly, or at least appeared to honestly recount everything he knew. "He is the most terrifying mutant you can imagine. He simultaneously possesses top-tier telepathy and top-tier matter manipulation."

"He was born five thousand years ago in Egypt. He was an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh, and there, he secretly ruled all of Egypt for a thousand years. That's right, a full millennium; Apocalypse is immortal."

"Not only that, but he can also activate dormant X-Genes in others and enhance them. In the ancient past, he bestowed powers upon four individuals; the Hebrews recorded these terrifying Egyptians in the Bible as the original Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death."

"Apocalypse is nothing like you or Charles Xavier, Erik. He is far simpler and far more terrible than you. In Apocalypse's vision, he is the unique God-King, mutants are the rulers, and humans are the slaves."

"But in the past, the mutant population was too sparse, so he entered a deep slumber, leaving his clan of guardians to awaken him once the mutant race had grown sufficiently large."

At this point, Sinister looked at Peter with a smirk. "You should thank me, Spider-Man. If I hadn't discovered the tomb sealing Apocalypse and the descendant families of the Four Horsemen decades ago, perhaps Apocalypse would have already awakened and conquered the world."

Magneto didn't give Sinister a chance for further idle talk. He used metal to fashion a mask that sealed Sinister's mouth shut, then ordered his subordinates to drag him away. He then turned to Spider-Man. "What is your plan? Awakening Apocalypse in that future timeline?"

"If the Apocalypse of that timeline hasn't been awakened yet, then yes. We need Sinister to tell us the specific location of his slumber. This way, we can prevent his awakening in the present as much as possible, and on Earth-811, Apocalypse might become a powerful ally against Nimrod."

Apocalypse was quite different from Magneto. At the very least, the Magneto of the Genosha period wouldn't proactively attack humans; he was considered a neutral entity who would step up to help during world-ending crises. Apocalypse, however, was a total time bomb. If you relied on him to defeat your enemies, your next task would be to defeat Apocalypse himself.

In fact, Apocalypse and Magneto couldn't even coexist, because their ideologies were fundamentally different. Setting aside the treatment of humans, Magneto believed that mutants should be equal internally; he had implemented very strict anti-discrimination policies in Genosha.

Apocalypse, on the other hand, was a standard social Darwinist with the double standards typical of that ideology: I am stronger than you, so I shall enslave you; you are stronger than me, so I shall use any means necessary to kill you.

"I will pass the intelligence regarding Apocalypse to the 2029 Resistance through Shadowcat. As for exactly what to do, I'll leave that to their judgment." Peter spoke as he prepared to leave, but paused to ask Magneto one final question.

"Oh, right. How is Pietro's injury?"

"He's mostly recovered. His healing rate is much faster than a normal person's. Thank you for your concern."

Deep beneath the surface of Genosha, in a prison that no sensor could detect, was where Sinister was held. This was the dark side of Magneto's utopia. Those who simply broke Genoshan law were sent to ordinary prisons, but anyone who chose to defy Magneto's ideals—the political prisoners of Genosha—was locked away here.

It was an absolute cell from which no one could escape. Should any outsider enter, Magneto's abilities would detect them immediately. Every iron molecule was tightly bonded, leaving no gaps.

Many people were already half-dead in their confinement, but the great Magneto did not allow them to die—not until they saw the true arrival of the mutant utopia.

Unfortunately, getting inside was precisely Sinister's primary objective.

"The great Magneto believes that since I implanted the X-Gene, I am just like a mutant and can be restrained by X-Gene suppression devices."

Mimicking Magneto's power perfectly, Sinister flashed a smile. Of course, he didn't think Magneto would monitor his enemies so simply. But he had long ago planted moles; he would leave the other details to them, while he only needed to focus on one thing: using magnetic manipulation to prevent Magneto from sensing him.

Accompanied by a jaunty whistle, a tall man with red eyes walked up to Sinister and gave a polite bow. "The door you opened was a bit small, boss."

"It was plenty big, Remy. Magneto is not someone to be trifled with. Did you bring everyone?"

Remy LeBeau smiled as if it were a matter of course. "Naturally, boss. But this is the second time you've stolen from Magneto, isn't it? Last time was with the Hellfire Club, and here you are again. Aren't you afraid Magneto will actually come and kill you?"

"As they say... great risks bring great rewards. A stable mutant nation was never what we needed." As Sinister spoke, he looked behind Gambit at the mutants he had brought along. These were individuals whose combat power wasn't high, but who each possessed unique talents that could rescue Magneto's detractors and keep them alive.

"Release them all, and then blow this place sky-high, Gambit." Sinister cracked his neck and laughed. "Let the mutant utopia descend into chaos."
