Chapter 507 - Chapter 507: Spider-Man Dies at Sunset

Relying on the electrical signal imaging provided by his suit and the enhancement of his new Spider-Sense, Peter's brain "saw through" Mysterio's illusions under electrical stimulation. Although he could still visually see the phantasms and remained affected by simulated smells and touch, he was at least able to move freely.

However, the images appearing before Peter were indeed somewhat occult.

The ground behind him folded upward like the pages of a book, slamming against the buildings. Even though he knew it was false, for a moment, he felt a weight of ten thousand tons pressing down on him. Fortunately, Peter had his own countermeasures against Mysterio's Danger Room-enhanced illusions: the Velocity Suit he was wearing.

Mysterio, after all, was a mortal, not a telepath. Neither the speed at which he constructed illusions nor his reaction time could match a true psychic. Under the high-speed boost of the Velocity Suit, Mysterio couldn't even build illusions fast enough to be truly convincing.

It was enough time for Peter to reach Mysterio's back.

"Enough, Quentin! Enough!"

He slammed a fist into Quentin's new fishbowl helmet, shattering it instantly and revealing the terrified face beneath. "The magic show is over."

"Oh, is it, Spider-Man?"

Narrowly dodging a tail strike from Scorpion, Peter watched as Scorpion lunged with a punch. Peter blocked the blow—strengthened by the Erskine Serum—with his forearm, while Scorpion continued his arrogant bluster.

"Haha! What's wrong? Your 'Spider-Sense' isn't working right, is it? Not so sensitive anymore? On the contrary, my Scorpion-Sense is tingling with excitement right now... AAAARGH!!!!"

Peter released a massive surge of electricity stored in the Velocity Suit, frying Scorpion to a crisp. Scorpion's tail began to twitch uncontrollably, firing off machine guns, laser emitters, acid sprayers, flamethrowers, and a chaotic mess of other weapons—shooting everywhere like a series of accidental discharges. Terrified, Mysterio grabbed a drone and flew away.

"I never knew Quentin had such arm strength. Alright, Scorpion, given your currently hazardous state, I'm afraid I'll have to perform some emergency maintenance on you... wait?"

Suddenly, sand surged up and bound Peter's body. Mysterio's illusions made it impossible to trust his eyes, while sonar and Spider-Sense were unable to fully materialize the floating grains of sand in the air. His Spider-Sense, the only thing capable of reacting, had been dulled by Scorpion's presence. It was ringing constantly, but it lacked specificity.

"It's over, Spider-Man."

Sandman spoke, having finally completed his mission of physically restraining the wall-crawler. Following close behind, Doctor Octopus used his mechanical limbs to crawl up clumsily and staggeringly, pulling up a Rhino who had finally been freed from magnetization. Electro, also having escaped his confinement, flew nearby.

Peter hadn't stopped. Though he had fully depleted the stored electrical energy in his suit, he still possessed his own bio-electricity. With a burst of full power, the Sandman binding him was turned into a pile of glass once more as Peter tore himself free.

"Do you really think you can win, Otto? You've exhausted every trick you have. Six against one, and you still can't take me down." Peter spoke while taking a deep breath. His stamina was still high; he could go for another round.

Could the Sinister Six?

Doctor Octopus smiled silently. He looked at the returning Mysterio and nodded. Smoke filled the area in an instant. Doctor Octopus ordered Electro to take Scorpion and fly away immediately. Peter followed in swift pursuit.

He didn't notice that he had inhaled something. Or rather, under Mysterio's influence, he didn't smell anything; he only saw a large cloud of mist.

"It truly is over, Spider-Man!" Doctor Octopus, who had struggled to stand from the ground only with the help of the Symbiote suit, let out an excited cry. "You fell for it! That wasn't a mist from Mysterio's illusions—it was the Regression Serum! The serum injected into you by the radioactive spider is being reversed. You are about to lose all your superpowers! You won't be Spider-Man anymore!"

Doctor Octopus let out a dry, hollow laugh. Spider-Man had almost soloed the entire Sinister Six; without this Regression Serum, they might have all been finished here today. Otto might have even been killed by an enraged Spider-Man.

But now, it was all over.

Peter swayed, trying to say something, but he couldn't. An unprecedented nausea filled his chest. Beneath the setting sun, his vision went black, and he began to fall. In the moment of his descent, three spiders appeared before his eyes.

The Savage Strength Project spider that bit him at the Osborn Science Exhibit; the Alchemax modified spider from Earth-700, Universe 42; and the Totem Spider from the Noir Universe.

A black web appeared over Spider-Man. Venom, unable to bond as a symbiote, did the last thing it could: it wrapped around Peter's body to prevent him from dying from the freefall. Seeing this, Otto mistakenly thought Spider-Man was merging with the symbiote again. His expression changed instantly as he roared.

"Find him!"

They quickly reached the bottom of the building, but they didn't find Peter himself. There was only the discarded Velocity Suit.

"Damn it! Spider-Man must have used the fact that we don't know his identity to escape!" Doctor Octopus grabbed the suit with a claw and threw it into a nearby trash can with a snarl. "Search the area immediately! Capture Spider-Man! Once the molecular resonance fails, that bastard will definitely come out in the symbiote suit to stop us again!"

The Sinister Six scattered to search. Only Mysterio glanced at the spot where Spider-Man had fallen. There was a police officer there, leading a young man away.

"Spider-Man is no longer a threat," Mysterio muttered, turning away. No one would notice that policeman; there was no need to strike at someone who was no longer a threat.

Inside the Velocity Suit that Doctor Octopus had tossed into the trash, black tentacles began to writhe. A few minutes later, someone took the suit. Flash Thompson hid in a corner alone, mumbling in disbelief. He had watched the entire battle from a distance and had seen Spider-Man fall from the heights with his own eyes.

"Spidey lost? Six against one? That's so shameless. But where is he? Why is the suit here... huh?!"

From the Velocity Suit, a surging black fluid suddenly erupted, enveloping Flash entirely.
