Chapter 510 - Chapter 510: Spider-Man: Not That Black

The person who had broken into the studio and delivered a few strikes to Scorpion was, naturally, not Peter Parker. Instead, it was Eugene "Flash" Thompson, who had come across Peter's Velocity Suit and bonded with the Venom symbiote that had integrated itself with the suit.

After he had found the garment, he was possessed by Venom. Initially, Venom's only plan was to find someone to pose as Peter to help draw fire, but it hadn't expected a windfall—Thompson had an exceptionally high compatibility with symbiotes, and the kid was a die-hard Spider-Man fan.

One thing led to another, and the symbiote decided to explain the situation clearly: Spider-Man had been blindsided by the unscrupulous Sinister Six and was currently severely injured and in need of help. If Flash could pose as Spider-Man and stay active in the city for a while, it would be a massive help to the real hero. Of course, it was dangerous; at least half of the Sinister Six were cold-blooded villains who wouldn't hesitate to kill.

Upon hearing this, Flash's reaction was: There's actually such a good deal?

"If I can help Spidey, I'm definitely in." Flash was incredibly excited, giving no thought to the risks involved, and dove right in. Soon enough, the public witnessed a brand-new black-suited Spider-Man appearing in New York. Electro was the first to discover him, but unfortunately for him, Venom happened to be bonded to the Velocity Suit, resulting in Electro receiving a thorough beating instead.

This only further solidified Electro's belief that the Spider-Man before him was the real deal.

Then came the scene everyone saw on television: Flash, wearing the symbiote suit, broke into the broadcast studio, fought Scorpion, and escaped at light-speed before Scorpion could fire the sonic cannon on his tail.

Just like that, Flash had temporarily achieved his goal.

"Where to next? Whew."

[Likely the Web Base. It's a base we set up, but it has probably been seized by the Sinister Six already. It's extremely dangerous.]

Venom began to ponder who Peter needed most right now. It immediately thought of another person. If Jonathan Drew had been targeted by Doctor Octopus, then the person capable of restoring Peter's superpowers would inevitably be Dr. Curtis Connors. He should be working at Oscorp Tech right now.

Furthermore, Norman Osborn was undoubtedly another one of Doctor Octopus's targets.

[We're going to Oscorp Tech.]

As early as when the Sinister Six began their assault, Norman Osborn had sensed that things were taking a turn for the worse. He wasn't sure if Peter could defeat the Sinister Six, but that was a minor concern. The real issue was that since the end of the Green Goblin incident, he had been constantly working to improve his relationship with Harry.

In other words, Harry was there.

Norman rushed back to his office and opened his "safe." Inside was the complete set of Green Goblin equipment; it could be said that aside from the Goblin Formula, nothing else was missing.

No, wait—the "Green Goblin Formula" was here too.

Norman picked up the metallic sphere sent by Kang the Conqueror. Inside was his original destiny and a vial of the Erskine Serum. He took a deep breath, walked out of the "safe," and bumped into Harry, who had just entered the office and witnessed the scene.

"Dad? What are you doing?"

"Listen to me, Harry. Take this." After a brief moment of thought, Norman handed the metallic sphere to Harry. "Inside this is something that can save lives. Leave Manhattan right now. Go!"

"But, Dad, what about you?"

"Otto Octavius's target is me, so you'll only be safe if I stay here." Norman took a deep breath. "I know Otto. He won't kill me; he'll only choose to let me watch as he destroys Oscorp Tech."

"Take this and go, Harry. Get out of Manhattan. If Spider-Man fails, contact S.H.I.E.L.D., contact the Avengers."

After sending Harry away, Osborn donned the Green Goblin armor and put on the mask, waiting for Otto's arrival. He waited for several hours, watching Kang the Conqueror's declaration and Otto's speech before Otto Octavius finally arrived.

"You're slower than I expected, Otto."

"Apologies, Norman. After all, I had to wait to take over the entire city." Much like when they were young, Otto walked in nonchalantly. He used a mechanical claw from his back to pick up the coffee from Norman's desk and remarked admiringly on Norman's attire: "It seems you didn't just sit around waiting to die. Good, good."

A few minutes later, when Flash and Venom arrived at Oscorp Tech, they heard unmistakable noises and saw a fierce battle underway. Flash couldn't help but ask, "Should we help?"

[No, it's not necessary.]

Realizing it was the Green Goblin fighting Doctor Octopus, Venom recalled the Goblin's combat prowess and decided their assistance wasn't needed. Osborn as the Green Goblin was powerful—too powerful, even. Doctor Octopus might not necessarily be his match.

Moreover, this would buy them enough time to find Dr. Curtis Connors.

In reality, at that very moment, Connors was being hunted by Rhino. Just like with Jonathan Drew, Otto was unwilling to let go of any scientist associated with "Brute Force" projects, though Connors' priority was indeed lower than Jonathan's. Dealing with this situation was precisely Venom's specialty. It immediately transformed with Flash into the full Venom form and charged in to brawl with Rhino.

The dim-witted Rhino was very surprised to see a Spider-Man appear before him.

"Spider-Man? You're not dead?"

"I am indeed not dead... wait, that's not the point."

Flash babbled a few nonsense words before letting Venom use symbiote tentacles to quickly snatch Connors away and retreat. On the way, his eyes were caught by a flash of light. Curious, Flash looked over and spotted a woman aiming a sniper rifle at him.

"Who is that?"

[A friend. Put Connors down; she will lead him to Spider-Man.] Venom felt a sense of relief upon seeing Silver Sable. [Now, we continue our mission.]

"Thank you, Spider-Man." The deposited Connors didn't even have time to finish his sentence before he saw the "Spider-Man" vanish. Then, in his confusion, the reflection from the sniper scope flashed in his eyes again.

Was that spot of light trying to show him the way?

Looking around and realizing it wasn't safe, Connors chose to immediately follow the light. Meanwhile, Flash felt a surge of satisfaction with his actions.

"Aha! Our mission is to keep fighting, to let all of New York realize that Spider-Man is still in the fight!" Flash shouted excitedly. "That's right! Spider-Man is still fighting!"

"Even if it's not the real deal!"
