Chapter 5 - chapter 5: Breakfast

Amanda, Amanda, wake up! , I heard through my sleep, I stirred on the blankets trying to stop and block out the sound, but it was persistent, I finally gave up and Opened my eyes with a scowl on my face.

Don't give me that look, Beth scolded, now get you ass up and get ready.

Get ready for what? I asked still lying down. It's still early.

Hey! Weren't you the one who wanted to go sightseeing ?

By the mention of it, I slowly sat up, and I recalled last night's discussion.

"I was the one who wanted to go, but must it be this early, we still have the whole day" I complained.

Do you plan on going when the sun is blazing like a furnace above our heads, now do you, now freshen up, Beth added giving me a painful pat on my back.

"Ugh" I grunted as I stood up and folded the blankets,

Hurry up!!!

Beth was already dressed in a denim trouser and a blue baggy T-shirt that read "cool" , she had her orborne hair packed in a really high ponytail which made her eyes look siren , she matched it with a painfully plain sneakers which were supposed to be white in color.

I finished bathing and wore a yellow flowery patterned dress which stopped above my knees , I brushed my wavy orborne hair down and supported the sides with butterfly pins and matched it with brown strapped sandals.

"We would be having at a nearby restaurant" Beth informed as we walked on the side walk.

"Mmm", I haven't eaten anything solid since yesterday and now I was starving, it was as if my stomach was fighting an internal battle within me.

"Oh"! And before I forget, we would be meeting with a couple of friends at the restaurant.

Friends, u was confused,

"Whose friends" I asked confused,

"My friends", don't you remember, I told you some time back I met a couple of people who were cool to hang out with.

How was I supposed to remember, I said within me, I never went out and neither was I interested in her endless tales whenever she came back to the orphanage, but now that I was actually meeting them, I couldn't explain how I was feeling, the only people I knew were those at the orphanage and the caretakers, I didn't even know whether it was some sort of phobia, but just the thought of spending time with others made me really sick, I still remained quiet, I didn't object to it, neither did I agree, I was just silent.

"What? you haven't said anything, Beth asked, no worry they're just a couple of harmless people, and it's just for breakfast, nothing more, hmm?, what do you say, are you upset? She kept on asking.

I didn't want to say anything, I was feeling a mixture of emotions, I was tensed, upset, weak and tired, right now I just wanted to go back to the house, I already lost my appetite, but I didn't want to tell her that.

"No worry, it would be rude to cancel it just because of me, I said while my face spoke otherwise.

"Aw" ! thanks Beth said loudly, I was scared you would run back to the house and lock yourself, and do you know the best part, they could offer us a little help, I've been thinking of us getting jobs, but I wasn't too sure how you would cope, so I guessed what's the best way to start than a little bit of socialization.

I could only offer her a small smile, I wasn't in the mood to speak anymore.
