Chapter 19 - TRACES OF THE ENEMY

Chapter 18: Traces of the Enemy

The next morning brought more than sunrise—it brought a trail.

Cyan had hacked into Emberlight's old surveillance systems. Hidden folders. Audio logs. One specific file played a voice they hadn't heard in years.

"Subject 09 has become unstable. Terminate if necessary."

It was Dr. Adrien Vale—the man who oversaw the Seraph Project. The same man Cyan had once trusted. The same man who had ordered Mira's deletion from existence.

"He's alive," Cyan said, jaw tight. "And he's watching us."

Mira didn't flinch. "Then let him. We're not hiding anymore."

The two of them followed the digital breadcrumbs left behind. Each log, each image, revealed more truth. Emberlight hadn't just created Cyan and Mira.

They had created many.

Children, now scattered. Hiding. Or worse… loyal to the system that ruined them.

"They'll come for us," Cyan said.

"Then we give them something to find," Mira answered, standing tall.

That night, they uploaded their own broadcast. Not through Emberlight's channels—but through an encrypted signal meant for one audience only:

The Forgotten Subjects.

Mira stared into the lens. "We know what they did to us. We remember. You are not alone. If you're out there… find us."

She ended the message with a line that would spark a revolution:

"This time, the story is ours."

The war wasn't over.

But the silence was.
