Chapter 132 - Chapter 132: Receiving a Starter Pokémon at the Laboratory

On the way to Dr. Odmaki's laboratory, Qingwu finally understood why Dr. Odmaki was always being chased by Mightyena and Gyarados. This loud and boisterous Dr. Odmaki stepped on the tails of Gyarados and Mightyena more than once on his way to the laboratory.

Even the Swellow resting on Qingwu's head had leveled up quite a bit from defeating many Gyarados and Mightyena.

Gyarados are similar to raccoons and tanukis. Their bodies are mainly dark gray, with faces similar to raccoons' dark brown fur. Their light brown bristly fur is ring-shaped, giving Gyarados a jagged appearance. Its sparkling brown eyes make it look even more agile.

Qingwu knew that there was a technique in the past where one could block a white blade with bare hands. Dr. Odmaki, on the other hand, was 100% capable of stepping on tails.

Heaven knows why those Gyarados and Mightyena, instead of doing proper business, liked to stick their tails out of the bushes, only to be stepped on by Dr. Odmaki.

When Dr. Odmaki was being chased by Pokémon, he would step on the tails of other Pokémon one after another, so the pursuit team would grow larger and larger.

Qingwu stroked his chin. 'What a strange setting this is!!!' When they arrived at the lab, even Lubi, looking at his future father-in-law, wasn't too pleased. He was a piece of trash, a cripple, who had been beaten to a pulp.

Dr. Odmaki's laboratory only had Dr. Odmaki and his assistant, but there were quite a few Pokémon in the laboratory. Qingwu actually saw a group of Claydol in Dr. Odmaki's laboratory. They were kept in a sunny garden.

Qingwu watched as these Claydol inserted their mouths into tree trunks, continuously absorbing green sap. The most important thing was that Dr. Odmaki's laboratory also had a group of Tropius.

Tropius are Pokémon that have the appearance of a sauropod dinosaur. Its entire body is brownish-gray, similar to the trunk of a tropical tree, and its neck is long, and its limbs are thick and strong. It has three green leaves on its head, one of which is a large leaf that looks like a battle helmet or a headpiece worn on its head.

The other two small leaves are distributed on both sides, and there are three leaves wrapped around its neck. It has three huge leaves on its back, shaped like giant wings. A bunch of banana-like yellow fruits hangs from its chin. The most striking thing about Tropius is the three huge leaves on its back.

These leaves are its flying ability, and it can fly anywhere with its huge wings. It is also one of the few Grass-type Pokémon that can bear fruit. The fruit is banana-shaped and tastes sweet and delicious.

There is another Grass-type Pokémon that can bear fruit: Torterra. The bushes on its back can bear berries like acorns.

Tropius may have a dinosaur-like appearance, but it is actually a Grass/Flying type Pokémon. If Tropius could Mega Evolve, it should be like Sceptile, awakening its Dragon bloodline.

Tropius can be considered a pseudo-dragon; it only has the appearance of a dragon, but not the dragon type. Tropius is known as the most comfortable aerial mount, dubbed the "Rolls-Royce of the Sky."

When Tropius flies, it emits a fresh scent of fruit, and humans who smell this scent are extremely prone to falling into deep sleep.

Tropius's move pool is also very wide. Through inheritance, it can learn Dragon Dance, Dragon Pulse, and Dragon Storm, among other powerful moves. Qingwu's favorite food in his previous life was the fruit produced by Tropius.

Tropius is a Grass-type Pokémon; it only needs to perform photosynthesis to survive. If one wants to survive in the wild, having a Tropius is the best choice. The fruit on Tropius's body ripens in three days and tastes somewhat like bananas.

"Sophia, Lubi, you two go play with Uncle Assistant first. I'll take Big Brother Qingwu to receive his Pokémon." Dr. Odmaki said to Sophia and Lubi.

"Okay, Dad." "Okay, Uncle." Two childlike voices spoke simultaneously. The two looked at each other and smiled, then walked away hand in hand, skipping.

"This way, Qingwu." Dr. Odmaki's enthusiasm grew as Qingwu acknowledged his existence. "Honestly, your mother's research talent is even stronger than mine. If she hadn't been so determined to become a breeding master, she would probably be a renowned scholar by now," Dr. Odmaki said with some regret.

Dr. Odmaki entered a password on his laboratory door and, after fingerprint and iris recognition, the laboratory door rumbled open with a creak.

"Welcome to my laboratory, Qingwu," Dr. Odmaki formally introduced his laboratory. The entire laboratory was about five hundred square meters, filled with many very precious instruments, making Qingwu's eyes sparkle.

Dr. Odmaki walked to an operating table, skillfully entered the password for verification, and then three Poké Balls rose from the operating table.

"I'm sorry, Qingwu, you came too late, so two Pokémon have already been chosen," Dr. Odmaki said apologetically. He hadn't expected the other two trainers to be so impatient. His letter of recommendation had only been sent yesterday, and they had already picked their Pokémon today.

"No problem." Although Qingwu said "no problem" verbally, he secretly complained in his heart. 'Since the Pokémon have all been claimed, what's the point of the Poké Balls still being here?' Qingwu made up his mind.

If the remaining Pokémon were Torchic or Mudkip, Qingwu would just raise them in the breeding house.

"Here, this is the last Pokémon. However, this Pokémon is quite strong. I didn't disappoint you," Dr. Odmaki said with a smile. "Come out, Treecko!" A white light emanated from the Poké Ball.

A Pokémon with a grass-green body and a darker-colored tail appeared in front of Qingwu. Its belly was rose red, its eyes were large and yellow, and its three fingers were round like balls. This Treecko stood holding a branch, looking somewhat cold and cool.

Treecko's tail was very large, so Treecko mainly attacked with its tail. Treecko's jumping ability was very strong. Treecko could also easily climb vertical walls. It would use its tail to sense the humidity of the air to determine tomorrow's weather.

Pokémon: Treecko (Dark Green)

Gender: Male

Level: 5

Type: Grass

Ability: Overgrow.

Basic Moves: Pound, Leer, Quick Attack, Absorb, Foresight.

Egg Moves: Pursuit, Slash, Synthesis.

Taught Moves: Swords Dance, Magical Leaf, Leaf Blade, Solar Beam, Grass Knot.

Although it was just a dark green Pokémon, its move list was truly packed. Qingwu was quite satisfied with this Treecko.

"Qingwu, there's one thing I need to tell you. Although this Treecko is strong, its personality is a bit aloof. You need to pay attention," Dr. Odmaki warned. "I know, Uncle Odmaki. I'll take good care of it." No matter how aloof or proud a Pokémon was, it would eventually integrate into the team.

Just like Fujitaka.

"Oh, right, this Treecko doesn't really like Poké Balls. I had to persuade it for days to reluctantly enter the Poké Ball." Dr. Odmaki revealed more, making him a little embarrassed.

"No problem, my Pokémon just now also didn't like Poké Balls." Qingwu knew that some Pokémon just didn't like Poké Balls. The most classic example was Ash's Pikachu. Aside from the very first scene, it never entered a Poké Ball again.
