Chapter 415 - Chapter 415: An Oracle's burden

[OrangeeyedStace (Felinia 7): @OfficialAphrodite.]

[OfficialAphrodite (Felinia 7): What's up?]

[OrangeeyedStace (Felinia 7): Tell Lorelie to check the Sportscast page. The Universal Sporting Body just posted an article regarding the suspicious action the Oceana Abes made of not substituting that Murphy guy in the Water Sphere match she and Adam saw.]

"Lorelie," Aphrodite said.

"Hmm?" Lorelie responded as she turned her head to Aphrodite.

"Stacey says to check the Sportscast page. Something about the Oceana Abes and a substitution with some Murphy guy," Aphrodite said as she didn't know what Stacey's message was related to.

"Oh!" Lorelie said in surprise before she stopped leaning on Adam and pulled up the Sportscast page on her uniband.

Adam was about to pull his arm back to give her room, except her hand, which she was using to control the holographic screen above her uniband, shot out and stopped him before she shot him a smile and returned her hand to using her holographic screen.

Adam shook his head with a smile as he returned his arm to its original position before asking, "Is this about the suspicious substitution they made when we went on our date?"

"I'm guessing so, let's find out," Lorelie replied as she found the article and began to read it aloud.

"The Universal Sporting Body, after much outcry from the Watersphere fan base, has investigated the Oceana Abes substitution that took place at their recent home game against the Oasis Fangs.

Our investigation has found that, while strange, it has not broken any Watersphere competition rules and we will therefore not be taking any action."

As Lorelie finished reading the article, she stared at it in surprise before asking, "Are they fucking serious?"

[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): How the fuck was there nothing rule-breaking about that substitution?]

[Lizziethetruepower (Palaxia): This reeks of a cover-up, I can smell all the way from another galaxy.]

[Superhearofangirl (Earth): I don't know much about Watersphere other than what I have learnt in the stream chat, but even I can see that substitution was suspicious as fuck.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): A substitution like that in any sport would be classed as suspicious.]

"I'm not sure what's going on. Would you mind explaining it to me?" Aphrodite asked before Rowena took the initiative to explain, since Lorelie looked very angry right now.

While Rowena was explaining the situation to Aphrodite, the stream switched to show the six Pantheras approach the front desk and speak to the receptionist that Rowena had spoken to earlier, before heading for the elevators and entering one of them.

"I see," Aphrodite said after understanding the situation, before turning to Lorelie and saying, "Perhaps now is a good time to teach you more about using your position as Diva to influence your fans."

💫💫💫

"Have you seen the statement by the Universal Sporting Body?" Raphilia asked as a holographic screen featuring Andromeda appeared.

"Statement?" Andromeda asked with confusion.

"Take a look at the Sportscast page," Raphilia said as she looked at the holographic screen showing Adams' stream.

"Ok," Andromeda replied before asking, "What are you watching?" After which, she opened the Sportscast page.

"The Spector stream."

"What?" Andromeda asked as she looked at Raphilia with a betrayed look while asking, "And you didn't invite me?"

"He only just went live and you're also not here," Raphilia replied before adding, "Want me to ask the streamer to allow you to watch?"

"Will that work?" Andromeda asked hopefully.

"There's no harm in asking, but when did you become such a fan?"

"Says you, who introduced me to the stream by insisting we watch it before going clothes shopping," Andromeda replied while rolling her eyes.

"Oh, speaking of clothes, the stream started showing Divas Lorelie and Andromeda doing a photoshoot for something called nighties."

"Nighties? What are those?"

"Nightwear for women, apparently. I especially like the one Diva Rowena is wearing, as it will excite my husband," Raphilia stated before thinking of something and saying with a smirk, "I bet it would also work on your mysterious man."

"Shut up," Andromeda replied with a blush before reading the statement and after a few seconds said, "What on Elysium is this rubbish?"

"Haha, that's basically the same response Diva Lorelie gave," Raphilia said after laughing.

"This is so ridiculous, there was totally something fishy about that substitution," Andromeda said angrily.

"Haha, nice joke."

"Joke?" Andromeda asked with a frown while still looking angry.

"You said there was something fishy about the Merinmian Murphy's substitution," Raphilia explained.

"Oh," Andromeda responded in a tone that showed she wasn't impressed with the joke.

"Wow, it's been a while since I have seen you this annoyed at something," Raphilia said with raised eyebrows before adding, "It was only a Watersphere substitution."

"That's not the point," Andromeda snapped.

"Ok, ok, calm down," Raphilia said in surprise while raising her hands in a calming gesture.

Andromeda closed her eyes and took a deep breath before saying, "Sorry. But you know how I am when it comes to people lying. I spend every night observing the important events that happen in the universe and often that includes individuals who are scheming and lying. The last thing I want is to interact with liars during the day, too."

"I know, Romy, I know," Raphilia said as she looked at Andromeda with sympathy.

Almost everyone in the universe thinks that Oracle Andromeda's ability to receive prophecies and visions is a gift that they themselves wish they had. However, only those people close to Andromeda knew the great burden it placed on her, not only concerning deciphering the meaning of any prophecy she receives, but also what she had to envision every night.

She could envision anything that was happening in the universe that night, a meeting between dignitaries who might be talking about how to help their citizens or maybe scheming how to get the most out of them, two or more people making love together, the mass murder of innocent civilians, the destruction of entire planets by ships using their planetary destruction weapons.

Because of this, Andromeda had very few friends she could confide in, because most of the people she spoke to about this either couldn't understand the burden it placed on her or simply didn't care to understand, as they only cared that she was the oracle.

She also had to be very picky about what she told and to whom, since telling someone something they shouldn't know could inevitably change the future in ways she couldn't predict.

As Raphilia was feeling sorry for her best friend, she heard Diva Aphrodite speak to Diva Lorelie about using her position as diva to influence her fans and it gave Raphilia an idea, so she asked, "Do you want to do something about this?"

"Like what? You know I have to be careful with my words since they carry so much weight. I only spoke out for the Terran Race before because of the vision I received and only after the Terran Imperial family made their public statement."

"That's true, but what if you like and comment on a post by another influential individual?" Raphilia asked with a scheming look.

💫💫💫

"What did you have in mind?" Lorelie asked.

"Make an Xer-verse post on the OfficialLorelie account about how you're unhappy with the statement and that you believe there is something more to this story and that you 'hope' the Universal Sporting Body will do another investigation or at least provide more information about the investigation they have already performed," Aphrodite explained.

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): How scheming.]

[Phoenixempress (Fenix Nest): I approve of this suggestion.]

[OfficialMuriel (Aqua Primus): As do I. That statement was so suspicious. I will be certain to like and comment on Diva Lorelie's Xer-verse post.]

"What will that do?" Adam asked curiously as Lorelie wore a thoughtful expression and Rowena nodded in approval.

"It will rile up her fans," Aphrodite smiled before continuing, "Lorelie's fanbase is growing at an explosive rate even though she is already the top celebrity and diva in the universe. I told you before that divas can influence their fans' opinions on matters, so if she is to question this statement from the Universal Sporting Body…"

"Then many of her fans will start to create an uproar about it," Adam finished in understanding.

"That's right," Aphrodite replied with a wink before continuing, "Her fans will back her up about being unhappy with the statement and also start demanding that the Universal Sporting Body either release their official findings from their investigation or conduct another, more public investigation and publish everything they find."

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Damn. And I thought our celebrities had the power to influence their fans. Compared to divas, our celebrities are nothing.]

[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): I know. 😍]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): The chaos a diva could cause. Kekeke.]

[OrangeeyedStace (Oceana 7): Go for it, Lorelie.]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): If Diva Lorelie decides to make this post, I know a certain oracle who is keen to like the post and comment on it.]
