Chapter 10 - The Thunderbolt Gate

After a year of relentless fighting, the Emperor summoned Raine to the palace and entrusted him with a critical mission.

Raine was transferred to train under General Varkus, enduring a grueling month of intense drills. He fused his dark powers with battlefield combat techniques and mastered the control of his shadow, which manipulated the dead—transforming him into a perfectly lethal weapon.

When the training concluded, Raine was informed that his next mission would take him to the continent of Cyber, a land of technology and electric magic. Arl accompanied him, their bond deepening despite the clear scars left by war. Arl, who had lost her right eye in previous battles, continued to fight using her healing powers, but her wound was deeper than flesh.

Upon arriving in Cyber, a strange world unfolded before them: cities floating above the clouds, massive robots moving by electric commands, and towers piercing the sky. There, they met "Dr. Kysern," the mad genius who had created a weapon capable of shifting the balance of power in wars.

But Kysern, fearing Raine's mysterious power, refused to hand over the weapon. He branded Raine as an "uncontrollable threat." Instead of negotiating, Kysern unleashed his army of deadly robots.

The battle erupted in a charged atmosphere. Sparks of electricity lit up the base, turning corridors into living battlegrounds. Raine used his shadow as a shield, deflecting electric blasts back at the enemy. Arl struck with swift, precise blows, healing her severe eye injury even as she fought.

Yet Kysern's defenses were not easy to breach. The robots unleashed magnetic storms that slowed Raine's movements and dulled his reflexes. Raine realized he needed new tactics, shifting between rooms and corridors, using the environment strategically.

At the climax of the fight, they discovered the core of the defenses: the central power unit feeding all robots and shields. Disabling it would bring down the defenses, but approaching it meant facing deadly electric fields.

Boldly, Arl charged to hold off the robots, taking a devastating blow that cost her the use of her right eye. Despite the pain, she sharpened her healing abilities and fought to stay standing.

Raine reached the core unit but understood that unleashing his full power there would cost his life. The only solution was Arl's sacrifice: to drain her life force to disable the electric fields.

Despite the pain and the haunting illusions she saw in Raine, Arl chose to make this sacrifice with full awareness. Her healing light merged with Raine's shadow, erupting in a powerful surge that cut the power and shattered Kysern's defenses.

With the defenses down, Raine launched his final battle against Kysern. After a decisive fight, he emerged victorious—but his mission was far from over.

Using the shadow he had absorbed, Raine invaded Kysern's mind, tampering with his memories and planting secret commands to turn him into a silent slave under Raine's control. Kysern was now a secret weapon in Raine's hands.

Amid all this victory, Raine stood beside Arl's lifeless body. For the first time, a strange sorrow weighed on his heart. He spoke to her in silence, an inner dialogue about life, pain, and sacrifice. He vowed never to forget the one who taught him the humanity behind power.

He lifted his gaze to the sky, Arl's faint shadow beside him, signaling the dawn of a new era filled with power and complicated fate.
