Chapter 156 - Chapter 155 Like an Old Friend Returned

Chapter 155 Like an Old Friend Returned

Of course, Su Yuanshan would not strip his uncle of his wealth.

The Yuanxin Mall, which had evolved from Yuanxin Communications, was expected to exceed six billion in sales this year alone. It was practically built by his uncle personally. Su Yuanshan had no reason—and no face—to touch it.

Therefore, he directly arranged for his father and uncle to adjust the mall's shareholding structure: Uncle Zhang Ke would personally hold 55%, Yuanxin would retain 25%, and the remaining 20% would be allocated to an incentive pool.

This arrangement was also a form of personal compensation to his uncle.

As for his father's compensation... Su Yuanshan thought, a professor earning tens of millions annually in the 90s didn't really need compensation.

"Alright, Dad, you two should also transfer 5% of the mall's shares to Mom," Su Yuanshan said, looking at his mother, who was peeling winter melon beside them. He smiled, "Mom, didn't you say you wanted to hire a housekeeper?"

"Your dad said he's used to eating my cooking," Zhang Xiuyun glared at her husband, though her face was filled with a happy smile.

She had taken early retirement this year and spent her days playing mahjong with a group of retired professors—though playing was just an excuse; basking in the admiration and envy of others was the real joy.

As for hiring a housekeeper, after two highly publicized cases of housekeepers committing crimes, she had completely dropped the idea. Besides, with Su Yuanshan and his father having little interest in material luxuries, all the money was hers to spend. Zhang Xiuyun had already bought a mountain of jewelry, but after a few days, she got bored of wearing them.

At school, everyone knew that Zhang Xiuyun's husband and brother were big bosses of multinational companies. Honestly, she could spend a lifetime doing nothing and still not run out of money.

"That's fine," Su Xinghe nodded. "Zhang Ke, you can handle the dividends for your sister. I won't bother allocating Yuanxin's money."

Zhang Ke laughed, "Alright. We'll give out dividends once a year, Sister."

"Sounds good to me. I don't mind—how much is that 5% worth anyway?"

The three of them laughed together. Zhang Ke teased, "Not much, just a few hundred million maybe."

Zhang Xiuyun: "..."

Seeing that it was still early for dinner, Su Yuanshan got up and opened the fridge, pulling out three bottles of Coke.

Zhang Ke instinctively reached out, but Su Yuanshan dodged and said, "Get your own if you want."

"Huh? Who are those for then?"

Su Yuanshan, hugging the Cokes, laughed, "I'm going to visit a classmate."

"...A female classmate?"

"Yep!"

Without waiting for more teasing, Su Yuanshan quickly left the house with a grin.

...

Although the sun was hidden behind clouds, the late summer heat still lingered heavily over the campus. Su Yuanshan went downstairs, hopped on his bicycle, and pedaled toward the sports field.

Today was the second-to-last day of freshman military training.

Ye Ruda and Yu Shuyun were still participating—despite Su Yuanshan offering to help them get medical leave through the campus doctor. Ye Ruda had refused, saying she wanted to try shooting practice herself.

Since live shooting required full participation, there was no way around it.

Yesterday had been their shooting practice, and today and tomorrow were dedicated to preparing for the final parade drills. All the squads were practicing their marching steps on the field.

Riding swiftly across campus, Su Yuanshan soon found the group Ye Ruda belonged to.

He stood on his pedals, scanning through the few bright silhouettes among the crowd, searching for Ye Ruda.

"About-face!"

At the instructor's command, the squads turned neatly.

Ye Ruda immediately spotted him, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons.

"March!"

"Stop! Stand at ease, rest for ten minutes!"

At the order, the squads dispersed, many freshmen rushing toward the shade.

Ye Ruda, hands clasped behind her back, smiled brightly, her eyes like crescent moons.

Someone nearby whispered, sneaking glances at Su Yuanshan. Yu Shuyun also came running over.

Su Yuanshan pulled out the three bottles of Coke—handing one to Yu Shuyun, opening another for Ye Ruda.

As always, Su Yuanshan's movements were smooth and natural, treating Ye Ruda with the kind of familiarity that came from long companionship.

Just then, the instructor also approached, and Su Yuanshan promptly handed him the third bottle.

"Thank you for your hard work, Instructor!"

The instructor was startled but instinctively waved it off. Su Yuanshan quickly added, "You trained me last year during military training."

"Oh?" The instructor scratched his head, smiling broadly, assuming he had simply forgotten the student's face.

"Just visiting classmates today. I skipped a grade back then, so now I'm just one year ahead of them."

The instructor nodded and moved aside.

Nearby, Yu Shuyun watched Su Yuanshan's effortless lying in awe, while Ye Ruda couldn't stop smiling.

"President Shan, this treatment is too biased," Yu Shuyun muttered as she struggled to open her bottle. "At least care a little for me... Ugh, it's stuck!"

Yu Shuyun bumped Ye Ruda, pleading, "Help."

Ye Ruda handed her the Coke she had already opened, easily twisting open Yu Shuyun's stuck cap instead, laughing when Yu Shuyun nearly drank from the wrong bottle.

Turning away from the crowd, Ye Ruda took a small sip of her Coke, appearing poised and ladylike.

Su Yuanshan laughed, "Stop pretending to be a lady. That's not you."

Ye Ruda almost sprayed her drink.

Startled, she stared at him. He simply smiled back at her, his expression saying, "I know you too well."

"I..." Ye Ruda stammered, cheeks already red from the heat and now redder from embarrassment.

She had to admit, she was indeed trying a little too hard to act prim and proper in front of Su Yuanshan.

"Where exactly do I not seem ladylike?" she muttered and, in defiance, took a big gulp of Coke.

"That's better," Su Yuanshan teased. Then, hesitating a little, he said, "I've been pretty busy lately... If you have free time, come visit the tech park."

Ye Ruda nodded, "Okay."

"If I'm free, I'll page you... And if you ever want to use a computer, just go to my dad's office."

"No way," Ye Ruda whispered quickly, glancing nervously at the other students. "I'm not skipping class."

"Hah! What's the point of college if you don't skip classes sometimes?" Su Yuanshan said, a bit too loudly. Surprisingly, many nearby students nodded in agreement.

"Maybe you should get a computer for your dorm instead," Su Yuanshan suggested.

Ye Ruda's eyes brightened at that.

Her family was quite well-off, and after two months of internship at Yuanxin, she had earned a couple thousand yuan—enough to cover a good portion of the cost.

"Then it's settled. I'll have one delivered to you soon."

"Ah? No," Ye Ruda quickly shook her head, blushing. "I need to discuss it with my dad first."

Su Yuanshan froze, then smiled apologetically, "Sorry, I forgot."

Ye Ruda pursed her lips and smiled.

She knew if she didn't stop him, Su Yuanshan would definitely send the computer without hesitation.

This kind of natural, genuine generosity made her heart warm—but she also knew better than to accept something so significant casually.

"I'll head home now. I'll contact you tonight."

"...Okay."

Ye Ruda watched him mount his bike and ride away, smiling brightly as she took another sip of Coke.

Yu Shuyun nudged her, whispering, "Girl, why hasn't he confessed yet?"

"Don't talk nonsense," Ye Ruda blushed, still smiling as she gazed at Su Yuanshan's retreating figure.

She remembered the words she had seen on the instructor's cigarette box that afternoon:

"Meeting you for the first time felt like reuniting with an old friend."

And truly, that was exactly how Su Yuanshan felt to her.
