Chapter 10 - 10.The Forgotten Cemetery

They were in a dark forest, surrounded by silence. They stepped out of the car, and Max offered his hand to Nicol to keep her from slipping. He smiled at her and said, "Come on, let's go take a look around."

"Alright," Nicol agreed, then added with a laugh, "You really brought me to a cemetery?"

"You wanted a place where no one goes," Max replied. "But don't worry, it's beautiful and abandoned."

Nicol looked around and saw an old cemetery that had been unused for decades. They stepped inside and began exploring its corners.

"Come on, let's sit in the car instead," Nicol suggested, and they walked back. Nicol put on some music, sat next to Max, and they began to kiss. Max rested his hand on the seat, and they stayed there for a moment, wrapped in quiet intimacy.

Then they sat back and started talking. Max began telling stories about being a camp counselor, including some spooky tales. Nicol laughed and occasionally interrupted, "Hey, stop it!"

Suddenly, Nicol's phone buzzed. She looked at it and exclaimed, "Oh my god, it's Grandma."

"Pick it up," Max said. On the phone, her grandmother was saying, "Nicola, come home now. It's late, and it's dark everywhere."

Nicol smiled and replied, "Yeah, we're on our way." She glanced at Max and added, "We'll be leaving soon."

"Sure, take your time," Max said with a smile. They continued talking on the way back, and when they arrived at Nicol's house, Max gave her a gentle hug. They shared a quick kiss and said their goodbyes.
