The ground was littered with bloodstains, and the air was filled with metal smells, but the moon above did not care about the fight. It was bright and clear, hung in the dark sky, as if the Moon Goddess herself was waiting and watching for the choice that would end the night.
Evelyn stood with Damien in the middle of the circle. Torches lined the edge, and their flame flickered in the cold breeze. Individuals stood in the space in calm lines, some with wide eyes, others with questioning faces. The council had met again, divided but not to be dispersed. All attention was on them, on the Alpha and the woman who would be Luna.
