JAY... THREE HOURS EARLIER
He is tired but as an alpha he has to stand and take responsibility over the engineering department, his business and his home. Home is more stressful. There is a sense of question befalling their relationship, maybe regret but they are meant to be together. He does not know why his still the head representative of the engineering faculty, his not been in the right state of mind and since it is the least of his problems he has been slacking off. The faculty is known as the best faculty in Moon University, the overall achievement score for their faculty have never been below 95%. Today head representative were reviewing the positions of their faculties and they sit at 95% and by the rate of it, it could decrease.
"Watch out Jayden, the faculty of commerce is catching up."
His best friend shoots AuAu a deadly glare. "92% is hardly catching up, hell the faculty of health sciences have a better leg to stand on than your mediocre performance." He then turns his attention to his deputy, "Save control your head before he continues to embarrass himself."
"Enough Leam." The principal hands them folders which includes the responsibilities of their positions and importance ways to boost performance. "Some of you voted that the entrance test is overrated, I will leave it to you guys to discuss what alternatives you are thinking."
"I think entrance test is standard each year because we want serious people to grow the reputation of our school." Robin says representing the faculty of law.
"Why focus of the grading system? Schools should be a time students come to find out who they are." Mark says but was immediately shut down by his deputy, "historically scholars were renounced for their intelligence."
He zones out. He brought Noah along because his the next Moon representative. His popular, responsible and assertive. He needs to convince him to take over as head but these long, boring meetings are seriously draining the little bit of interests he worked hard for. About two hours later they were finally dismissed but they have to go to the faculty of humanities because Mark is an insecure little man with fake idea of the role his playing.
"You were late."
"I left my fated to sit through a year of my life to hear whatever it is you've got to say," Noah said coolly, stepping into the office with barely concealed irritation. "I would go with: I know you're off the clock, but I need a favour."
"I make the schedule. I'm the head-"
Jayden didn't get to finish. A low, guttural growl rumbled from Noah's chest, his wolf rising to the surface at the audacity of Jayden's tone.
"You might be the head leader among humans," Noah said, voice sharp and clipped, "but don't forget I'm the alpha of this pack. Your alpha."
"That means nothing to me," he respects Noah because he wants to. Him being his alpha has nothing to do with the way he treats him. Perhaps he did make plans with his fated mate, but he has to watch his tone because he will not back down. "Pulling up rank here is ridiculous, regulate your emotions and act like a fucking Deucalion."
A heavy silence fell between them, thick with tension and unspoken challenges.
Their eyes locked in a silent battle of dominance that stretched on for what felt like an eternity neither backing down, neither willing to submit. Noah is usually sensible; his parents must be stressing him with their family businesses. He feels bad that Noah had to practically beg to be a child, teen and now he has less than three years left before he has to devote his life to his family. Zac, oblivious to the charged atmosphere, burst into the room.
"Noah. Leam and I are heading to the Humanities Department," Zac said casually. "Can you watch over things here for a while?"
Noah didn't respond at first, his eyes still locked on Jayden's. Then, without a word, he pulled out his phone probably to check in with his mate. What does Alex want? He feels bad for adding an extra responsibility, but he only has to do this for one year then hand the reigns over to the recent Moon if he feels like it. Noah knows that he is available to help him as much as possible, but he can't be the Moon representative once he graduates.
.
He missed having a bike, his mate feared for his life whenever he had to ride around Moon. Sacrificing his midnight beast for a silver back Ford Mustang, she's still fast and his mate is happy. Win-win. They going to use different cars going to get to the same location.
My Love: << 'Jay, I'm going to lunch with Alex and Toby.'>>
His mate will always report his action no matter how many times he says he trusts him.
Jay: << 'Okay, have fun.'>>
He sped alongside Leam. They faced a group of man smoking outside, ditching class. Why would you sign up to further your education, if you not going to attend and get educated? No wonder this departments average remains at 75%. This department is too relaxed for his liking; it's like they here to collect years than their document qualifications. These were the boys that stole something from the junior a few weeks back who bullies angels. These bozos tried to look dangerous as if they are cruising through some type of midlife crisis. They walked away when they saw him one of them couldn't hide the fear in his eyes, good.
"Leam. Go to the department offices and handle this situation."
He nods. They do almost everything together therefore he does not need to be specific for his friend to understand him. Mark is a mountain lion shifter who has to seriously address the decline in facilities overall grade and conflict amongst students participating in soccer. Leam will receive the records of the dead weights from the principal, if Mark won't do his job for the sake of the university reputation. His father on a well-deserved vacation with his mate and as his son he is overlooking the main branch and also sorting through paper work of other branches.
"What can I do for you Jayden"
The door opened and words came out of Marks mouth, but an irresistible scent crossed his path. A scent his been waiting for popped up and just the scent made his wolf howl, mate. Unmistakable, vanilla, caramel... sweet. It's not Leo, the only time his wolf acted like this was weeks ago when they saved a junior.
"Jayden."
"HUH? Mark. Yeah... We have a couple of things to discuss regarding your faculty's performance and the fact the recent disagreements between faculties."
"Common in."
