Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Countdown Begins — Three Days of Preparation

The sun rose bright and clear over Ashwin's farm, casting long shadows over the freshly tilled fields and the small but bustling Breeder's Grotto below. Today marked the beginning of an intense three-day training period before the impending appearance of the field boss.

Ashwin gathered his team: Combee, Skwovet, Bidoof, Turtwig, Bounsweet, and the latest addition — the cunning Galarian Zigzagoon. Each Pokémon blinked, stretched, and gave small signs of eagerness.

"We've got a tight schedule, team," Ashwin said with resolve. "This next challenge won't wait. Every bit of training counts."

Ashwin started the day early with agility drills. The obstacle course, built from natural materials near the farm's edge, awaited them — poles to weave through, logs to jump over, tunnels to crawl beneath.

Combee zipped nimbly through the poles, buzzing with focused energy.

Skwovet darted with surprising speed, tail flicking as it dashed.

Bidoof, though slower, persisted steadily, increasing its pace by the session's end.

Turtwig carefully navigated the obstacles, focusing on balance.

Zigzagoon showed incredible dexterity, weaving through the course with clever shortcuts, its keen eyes spotting weaknesses in the layout.

Bounsweet followed close behind, agile despite its small size, motivated by Ashwin's cheers.

After several runs, Ashwin shifted the training to endurance. They circled the farm multiple times, sometimes running, sometimes trotting, with brief rests for hydration.

Throughout, Ashwin engaged them in bonding exercises — soft words, shared snacks, gentle pats.

[Training Log - Day 1]

Combee Agility: 65% → 75%

Skwovet Agility: 68% → 78%

Bidoof Endurance: 62% → 72%

Turtwig Endurance: 50% → 60%

Zigzagoon Agility: 60% → 70%

Bounsweet Bond: 75% → 80%

The next morning, Ashwin prepared strength-building exercises.

Logs and rocks became weights for pushing and pulling drills. Ashwin carefully supervised as each Pokémon tested their muscle power.

Bidoof dragged a heavy log with surprising determination.

Turtwig practiced shell defense, learning to quickly retract and strike.

Skwovet and Zigzagoon worked on coordinated tackles and evasive maneuvers.

Combee focused on sharp burst flights and defensive dodges.

Bounsweet practiced quick side-steps, increasing its defensive awareness.

Ashwin also set up guarding drills where Pokémon took turns protecting a designated point while others tried to breach it. This fostered teamwork and strategic thinking.

[Training Log - Day 2]

Bidoof Strength: 65% → 75%

Turtwig Defense: 55% → 65%

Skwovet Coordination: 70% → 80%

Zigzagoon Strength: 60% → 70%

Combee Defense: 60% → 70%

Bounsweet Coordination: 80% → 85%

The final day before the boss's arrival focused on working as a cohesive unit.

Ashwin designed complex drills requiring the Pokémon to cover one another, communicate through movements, and respond quickly to changing situations.

They practiced ambush tactics, defensive formations, and emergency retreats.

Suddenly, Zigzagoon's sharp nose twitched. Ashwin watched as it slipped quietly toward the edge of the farm.

[System Notification: Stealth Quest Available — Zigzagoon's Recon Mission]

Quest Objective: Infiltrate the Field Boss's lair and retrieve any useful loot or intel without being detected.

Ashwin nodded, trusting Zigzagoon's instincts.

The little Pokémon disappeared into the underbrush.

Zigzagoon crept silently through the dense forest, its black-and-white fur blending with the shadows. Ahead lay the rumored lair — a cave guarded by hostile wild Pokémon and dangerous terrain.

Using clever distractions, Zigzagoon evaded patrols and slipped inside.

Within the dim cavern, it spotted several shining objects: rare berries, pieces of old Poké Balls, and a mysterious glowing shard pulsing with faint energy.

Zigzagoon grabbed what it could carry and quickly slipped back outside, barely escaping the notice of a growling field boss minion.

Back at the farm, Zigzagoon returned triumphantly, dropping the loot at Ashwin's feet.

[Quest Complete: Zigzagoon's Stealth Mission][Loot Collected: Rare Berries x5, Old Poké Ball fragments x3, Mysterious Shard x1][Reward: +10% Stealth Training Progress for Zigzagoon]

Ashwin grinned.

"Well done, Zigzagoon! That intel could be vital."

They gathered one last time for a final endurance run and cooldown exercises.

[Training Log - Day 3]

Combee Coordination: 70% → 80%

Skwovet Teamwork: 75% → 85%

Bidoof Defense: 70% → 80%

Turtwig Endurance: 60% → 70%

Zigzagoon Stealth: 70% → 80%

Bounsweet Endurance: 75% → 80%

That night, Ashwin stood outside under the stars, the weight of the coming battle heavy in the air.

[System Alert: Field Boss Activation — 6 hours remaining]

His Pokémon rested soundly nearby, ready to face the challenge together.

Ashwin tightened his grip on his satchel and whispered, "No matter what happens, we stand as one."
