My steps grew heavier as I approached the principal's office, dragging each foot like I was heading to a public execution. A million thoughts rushed through my head—none of them comforting, all of them carefully rehearsed. Around me, whispers floated like smoke, thick with judgment. The sneers and sarcastic smirks burned, but I forced my expression into one of wounded innocence. Let them think I'm the victim. Let them see someone cornered, misunderstood. This was something I had to do. I had to face the music… or at least look like I was.
