Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: The White Eyepatch and the Power of the Jao Shingan

Reality is cruel, but life must go on.

After a brief moment of melancholy, Li Xuan decisively cast aside his pride and grabbed the six-star emblem 'Jao Shingan' from the Gate of Vows. He hadn't expected to get two golden drops from a single ten-pull. Did this mean the King of Luck still favored him?

Li Xuan closed his eyes and quietly read the information about the six-star emblem 'Jao Shingan' in his mind. He had been so shocked before that he hadn't had a chance to read it properly.

Six-star Emblem 'Jao Shingan'

Skill: 'Jao Shingan' Every 4.25 seconds, randomly applies a Death Mark to a normal enemy. When the marked enemy is attacked, they die instantly.

Skill: 'Dark Bible' When Jao Shingan is equipped, every time an enemy attacks, there is a 43.61% chance to see through the enemy's weakness via the Jao Shingan.

"..." Li Xuan opened his eyes and stared fervently at the golden emblem in his hand. There was only one way to describe this emblem: 'Strong, and invincible!'

Without hesitation, Li Xuan pinned the emblem to the right collar of his 'Xuanyuan Festive Garb', placing it in a row with 'Knight Never Dies by Bare Hands' and 'Nan'gong's Trial'. The three emblems lined up looked somewhat like the medals of a decorated soldier from the 90s. For some reason, he found he could only ever equip three emblems at a time; any attempt to attach a fourth one simply wouldn't stick to his clothes…

"M-Master…" Liv, standing beside him, suddenly spoke up, a look of surprise on her face.

"What's wrong?" Li Xuan asked.

"Y-your eyes…" Liv bent down, reached into the skirt of her maid outfit, fumbled around, and pulled out a small mirror, handing it to Li Xuan.

"..." Is Liv's skirt a gateway to the 2D world?! She just pulled a mirror out of it?! Li Xuan was once again taken aback. It seemed there was still a lot he didn't understand.

"Your skirt can store things!?" Li Xuan asked curiously as he took the mirror from her. "Yes, it can~" Liv said with a gentle smile, once again melting Li Xuan's heart.

By the way… can a gun-girl be your girlfriend? Li Xuan began to seriously contemplate this philosophical question. Then, he subconsciously raised the mirror to his face. The man in the reflection…

"…" Li Xuan was speechless.

Creaak~ The metal handle of the mirror in his hand groaned, on the verge of breaking.

The reflection showed a handsome young man with soft features and a gentle demeanor. But his eyes, which had once been a pair of deep, dark pools, had now changed… His right eye was a golden color, while his left remained its original black. He now had heterochromia. His friendly vibe had been replaced by a more sinister one…

"Sigh~ What did I do to deserve this…" Li Xuan sighed helplessly at his golden eye in the mirror. While it didn't look bad, he still preferred his original black eyes.

Now he felt like he was wearing colored contacts…

"Liv, do you have a black eyepatch?" Li Xuan asked hopefully.

"Hm? No, I don't, Master. My sincerest apologies~" Liv shook her head, her black hair swaying and releasing a faint, fragrant scent…

"…I guess this is fate," Li Xuan muttered to himself, taking a white eyepatch from his ring. To be honest, he really didn't want to use a white one. Wearing a white eyepatch to cover his right eye, the Jao Shingan… wasn't that just Takanashi Rikka? The

chūnibyō was so embarrassing…

It brought back memories of his own dark,

chūnibyō phase in middle school… so embarrassing he wanted to roll around on the floor…

"Alright, Liv, let's go…" Li Xuan put on the white eyepatch at an angle, covering his right 'Jao Shingan'. It was something he had picked up and tossed into his ring while out scavenging for supplies. His ring was filled with all sorts of things, from daily necessities to sports equipment… But because of this, he now looked a bit like a delinquent.

Li Xuan casually stored all the weapons scattered on the ground into his ring. Most of them were useless to him now. Besides the purple and gold weapons from his wishes, the other weapons, while upgradable to five stars, would require Honkai energy crystals, which wasn't worth it…

However… Li Xuan looked speechlessly at the vibrant green leek in his hand, not knowing what to do with it…

Although it looked like a leek (and essentially was one), it was also a five-star weapon… But its ability and name were completely baffling to him…

First, the weapon's name was 'This Thing Can't Be a Leek', but as far as Li Xuan could tell, it was just a leek… so what was with the cutesy name…

Second, he couldn't make any sense of its five-star ability, which was: 'It's a Mutation-dayo'. When hitting a normal Honkai Zombie, there was a 6% chance to cause the enemy's genes to mutate… As for what it would mutate into… Li Xuan had no idea. And the skill name was obviously just trying to be cute!

"Sigh~ I'll just test it out with the Jao Shingan later…" Li Xuan muttered to himself, putting the leek into his ring.

.....................…..

"Liv, are you ready?" Li Xuan crouched down and watched as Liv meticulously tied up a normal Honkai Zombie with a rope. After securing the struggling zombie, she even tied a perfect bow on its head.

This was one of the most common Honkai Zombies found on the street, captured by Liv specifically for Li Xuan to test his six-star emblem, 'Jao Shingan'… Li Xuan had wanted to do it himself, but Liv insisted that such a trivial matter wasn't worth the Master's effort. So, the enthusiastic Liv went and captured a Honkai Zombie herself…

"Hehe~ All done, Master…" Liv turned her head and smiled at Li Xuan.

"Mm, thank you, Liv~" Li Xuan immediately praised her. He knew she was seeking his approval… Sure enough, as soon as he spoke, a smile as warm as a spring day spread across Liv's delicate face. For Liv…

Nothing made her happier than the Master's praise… Liv was willing to do anything for her Master!

Li Xuan glanced at the happy Liv, who was quietly pumping her little fist, a small smile playing on his lips…

'Alright… time to get down to business. I still have to get back for Mei's lunch.'

With that thought, Li Xuan took off the eyepatch over his right eye, revealing the eye beneath…

It was a golden eye, as brilliant as amber, with a light that seemed like a golden flame burning within… a golden pupil.
