Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Diego

Ms. Martin shows me how to hold the bow and the arrow in the Archery range.

I've chosen Archery as a sports activity, while in my previous school, I was a wrestler.

I think I don't have the energy to do a sport that will require to put a lot of energy into it.

Ms. Martin, she's always in tracksuits and has a slender, lean and fit body figure.

The days moved fast, it's Thursday now from that Monday when the president of the school tried to do whatever the bullies do in school to other learners who cannot defend themselves, well, I think my boldness shoved him away because I haven't seen him since then.

"Perfect," Ms. Martin says after she accomplished to put me in a relaxed position while holding my bow. "Can you release the elbow?"

Trying not to shake and lose the balance. "Mmm," I answer her.

I steady my eyes on the round red spot not far from my eyes but it looks far as I try not to stare away.

I release.

Some giggles escaped a few learners I practised with but I didn't get sad because, with the way it just fell down to my shoes, it was funny that I ended up laughing at myself too.

"When you have time, you can come in here alone and practice….. but don't be hard on yourself, okay?" she patted me on my shoulder and I stared back at her with a small smile and nodded.

"Okay," I respond and with that, the practice was over.

Knowing Jules and Lucas will be waiting for me by the door from their cheerleader basketball players since we also have rugby too, it excites me.

I find them outside in their cheerleader attire and they grin as soon as I expose myself to them.

We only have 30 minutes to wash our bodies in the locker room, so we rush and take off all our attires and stroll inside the empty stalls.

Being naked in front of them it's nothing since we are both omegas so omegas don't feel anything sexually around each other, same as Alphas and I honestly love how they've divided us.

They know that some Alphas can't control themselves around omegas as they think they have some sort of power over us.

After this, it will be the English period and after that, it will be the Life Orientation one which I like and enjoy.

Ms. Ramos has taught us well so far, with her gentle and nasal voice and some humour too. I honestly enjoy her lesson.

After we are done washing, and put our gear into the laundry bin to be washed then slip back into our school uniforms we stroll out of the locker room to the corridor.

Lucas and Jules were shocked by how the president of the school was behaving last, they said it was their first encounter with him behaving like that, and it was also their first time to be close to him like that.

But, they also said how proud they were of me for being able to defend myself like that, and also I told Caleb through FaceTime, he looked worried at first then his face lightened up after telling him that I didn't let him bully me.

I miss him and we miss each other.

"When is your birthday?" Jules asks with a smile after facing me as we walk and turn to climb the stairs.

"In a month away," I answer him.

"Are you gonna throw a party?" Lucas squeaks excitedly.

Narrowing my eyes, I shake my head at him. "No, I don't do parties."

They both frown at the same time. "Why?" asked at the same time.

"On my birthdays, and Caleb we would do something fun, like going out just the two of us — let me just say on our birthdays. Parties aren't my thing but we can attend other people's parties if we are invited," I tell them and it took them a while to nod.

Their expression doesn't show a conviction of understanding the words they said.

It's understandable. But people should understand that we can't be the same.

The class is practically empty as we enter inside, and we are left with a minute for Ms. Lee, the English teacher to stride inside in time. She's never late always on time and always on time.

Teachers wear uniforms also, it should be a white top and black bottom with black shoes also.

Putting my backpack on my desk while Lucas and Jules pass my desk.

It's been a week, but I'm not yet close enough to them to have a full conversation with them or talk about personal things and as much as they look curious about my life, they try as much as they can not pry into my life.

The learners make noise, but not too much noise when they pack inside the classroom, rushing in before our teacher arrives. Then in a minute, they're all seated and Ms. Lee stroll inside with a laptop and a projector.

She greets us nicely and looks neat as always with her bobbed fringe hairstyle.

"Today we are going to watch this romantic movie….." she tells us the name of the movie. "I need all of you to listen and watch attentively as I'm going to give you individual assignments regarding this movie, okay?" her eyes throw at us.

"Yes," we all answer at the same time.

"Good." She nods. "Blind the windows," she orders the learners who are sat next to the windows.

They do as they are told.

The class sounds excited to watch Alphas and Omegas grope each other. If it's romantic then they will end up doing that, unless it's highly censored which I will gladly watch without being annoyed.

The movie begins.

I have my arms crossed resting on my desk and leaning forward while watching, and something tells me to glance back at my friends so I do and find them too focused on the movie in front of us with sparkles in their eyes, shaking my head to that.

As minutes go by while watching, I realize that the movie is actually nice and educational. It teaches about how Alphas should treat each other not about Alphas overpowering their title or authority on their omegas which is nice.

Most omegas go through a lot of depression and traumas caused by their compatible Alphas, even not their compatible ones.

Some Alphas don't allow their omegas to chase their dreams, work and provide for themselves which I think it's ghastly obscene.

That's why I don't need to be mated in my life because I have a dream to chase, a dream my parents think it's useless to chase because of all the care it's about their son studying courses with heavy terms.

Useless.

When the movie ended, we all clapped our have three times, because it was good and touched us in so many ways.

Well, it touched me.

It's a classic movie.

"I'm going to hand each of you the assignment, read carefully as I will need the essay to be good on Question 3. Make sure the dialogues are not vile as well as at the last question," Ms. Lee says while handing us the assignment papers.

My eyes fall on it and quickly, the are answers I already know on Question 1, so I write them quickly with a pencil before I forget them.

She lives after she gathers her things.

I slip the assignment paper inside the file and put it back in my backpack

While I was thinking about that movie, Ms. Ramos entered our classroom, greeted and said, "Today we are going to be joined by other two classes, so let's all gather in the mini hall now.

I gasp and the whole class gasp too.

Softening my uniform with my hand by brushing it down after I stand to my feet I hear Lucas say, "I don't want to be in the same room with Science class, they're such bullies." He sighs after his words.

True, the Science class calls us History class dumbos which means dumbs to their dictionary and says we are just lazy.

This means I'm going to encounter the school of president. But, I don't care of his existence anymore, or care to remember his name even though it's on his name tag. We all have our names on our name tags pinned on our blazers.

We mass inside as History learners and find that we are the first ones, luckily this means we can pair with each other.

Lucas and Jules made me sit between them while we chose to be at the centre.

In a few seconds, the Commerce learners gather inside too, and sit on the available desks.

My skin somehow receives goosebumps under my school uniform when the slight noise of Science students echoes in the corridor.

I don't know why but it starts to get chilly and hot at the same time.

My heart is not at ease, but I stern my face, and watch the Science learners entering the class with noise.

Rolling my eyes. I hate how they love to grab attention, it's as if this school belongs to them.

It's been a week without seeing the school president, and now he's the last one to enter after his best friend.

His chiselled face is so well framed and portrayed in front of me, with the eyes so reluctant to gaze somewhere and finally they have somewhere to gaze, but not on his best friend who found the available desks for both of them but on….. me, and they stay like that for a while.

My heart is somehow betraying me for racing, just from his mere stare, as if we share some sort of connection but in all truth, he hates me and I hate him back.

Still locking our eyes together before his hazel eyes furrowing his brows and grimacing his face.

What the?

Furrowing my brows too, back at him and the distraction I needed saves me, Ms. Ramos with another male teacher.

I follow the school president taking wide strides to his best friend with hands in his pockets, and I say he grabbed lots of attention since other omegas are drooling at him.

Disgusting.

"Hi learners, this is Mr. Rodriguez, he arrived today to help me with today's lesson, and actually our Life Orientation period will daily be like this, combining all the classes and he will be with us for the rest of this year," Ms. Ramos says and after her words, all learners go clap their hands.

I follow, and since the school president is sitting on my left side, next to the wall….. my eyes are urging me to steal a glance at him.

They do, and I find him having a bored or not pleased expression, leaning his left shoulder against the wall, with hands somewhere in his slacks pockets and staring at the two teachers.

I don't care.

I turned my eyes to him and focused on the two teachers who looked mostly alike.

"Today's lesson will be about the heat," she mentions.

Ugh, yes…..

The heat. I think heat it's something that can be controllable, I think anyone can control how their bodies react so heat can be controllable too.

Ms. Ramos goes on to explain. "When the omega is on heat, for them to be able to stay in control it's for their compatible Alphas to scent mark them with their pheromones."

She gestures Mr. Rodrigues to come closer to her and motions him to roll up his sleeves and he does.

"You see, you can get their pheromones on their wrists, or on their biceps to cool down your heat if you're in public," she says.

One learner raises a hand. "If you're an omega and your mate rejects you, how can I control my heat in the process?"

"Good question, the scent marking doesn't work only on compatible Alphas, but also on Alphas you're close to, like your father, brothers, relatives or friends, they can scent mark you by allowing you to inhale their pheromones on their wrists. Remember, as long as the Alpha you are close to and have a good relationship with," she explains that well and we all nod with understanding.

Mr. Rodriguez rolls down his sleeves, and he's also an Alpha.

It's easier to know who's an Alpha or Omega due to our smell. We have our different smells which makes us differentiate ourselves without asking each other.

"And another thing, an Omega which can't find any of those Alphas while on heat, they can use toys to help themselves, which they do work fine and reduce the number of deaths. Yes, there are omegas which can't control their heat and end up going suicidal or die from excruciating pain," she explains further.

I think they're just weak and depend mostly on their Alphas.

Being an independent omega it's the best.

"So, we encourage Alphas to be there for their omegas always," Mr. Rodriguez points out.

But, there's a burn on my left side raging for me to turn and steal another glance at the school president…. Just a peek. I don't know where this urge comes from and I hate it because it's becoming so strong that it ends up winning.

My head is turned, and my eyes are welcomed by the piercing cold of eyes freezing deep in my insides.

I don't know what I've ever done to this Alpha to give such a death stare on me.

His death stare is worsening making Mr. Rodriguez's words vague into my ears.
