Chapter 2 - A Man on Pluto - Part 2

*Icarus POV*

*Location: Pluto*

*Date: June 31, 2025*

For as long as I could, I trained and pushed my abilities to their limits, trying to understand just what I could do fully. I was able to fly across the surface of Pluto for around two and a half hours, but it was possible that I could've been wrong, as I had no way to keep track of time but I did wonder where I knew that particular word, or what the concept of time was, so strange and so very odd.

For right now, though, I didn't have any answers, and for the next thing I focused on, I channeled the strange energy to fire the same blast from my first day here over and over. Changing the destructive output each time to see how well refined, and I was able to get it to the point where I could leave blast marks on the ice easily enough or destroy large boulders just as easily. It all depends on the amount of control I have over it and perhaps my own emotional state, as I was as calm as I could be for now.

A stark difference compared to my first day in my newfound existence, and on this barren rock. That, alongside my energy shield, which I found I could continuously supply energy to it, increase its defenses, or so I believe, as the only way I could test it was by having a few rocks fall on me, which I believe disintegrated or bounced off as I didn't see where they went as I couldn't quite control how it fell on me.

Either way, though, I then began testing my more physical capabilities and found I was extremmly strong and durable, but whenever I ran or sprinted, nothing really seemed special about it, as though my body was made to be extremmly strong so that it could handle the energy but not for much else beyond that.

Overall, all this data was...useless without something to compare it to, as I didn't know my full capabilities or my own limits because these tests were only for basic capabilities, but nothing much beyond that. Now, though, now I believe it was time to find other civilizations and other lifeforms, to see what this vast reality had to offer, and the answer to the one question I have been asking myself but never saying aloud.

{Why do I exist?}

That has been the one question I have desperately searched my mind for, to see if I could trigger a memory of any kind to find the answer. Nothing,, just the same flashing of colors, and the same buildings, the same places that were new and familiar to me in all the worst ways, in the way where the answer is on the tip of your tongue, but it would never come.

I hated it, I hated the fact I didn't know, and my hatred didn't stop there as it extended to this place as well, to this icy, barren rock that was the same everywhere I went. It's also time to test my limits beyond this place, to see what lies beyond this rock and if others like me were close as I felt myself drawn towards one particular celestial body, the bright shiny ball of fire I saw rising in the distance as night finally ended on this place.

So I slowly ascended, letting the energy build and allowing me one last look over this place, what would hopefully be my last memory of this accursed planet. I saw all the distant icy mountains formed by the combined effort of time and this planet's winds, with blast marks from where I practiced my energy blast, clear as day on them. Most beings in my situation would perhaps say that they would miss this place in some small way, I, however, will say that I would miss the free targets and the large training facility that this place provided me.

Then once I was done looking, I stared up into the sky and as I slowly escaped the planet's atmosphere, I then began charging myself, getting ready to blast off towards wherever this path would take me. Then, with one loud boom, I launched myself away towards wherever this path would lead me. Hopefully, a new civilization, one that perhaps could help me and help me understand what I am.

That was my only hope, and for right now, this hope was all I had.

*3rd POV*

*Location: Unknown dimension*

*Date: July 3, 2010*

"Subject Icarus has made steady progress so far and is on route to the third planet of this solar system's sun, our intended target." A being composed of a purplish energy said as they stared at a truly alien piece of technology, one that had Icarus on screen, rocketing through the solar system.

Behind them floated a neon green being composed of pure energy same as them.

"Yes, the enemy should be on their trail and be planetside soon enough." They said as both now stood in silence, simply watching the screen as the golden glow surrounded Icarus, allowing for such fast travel beyond the original speed he thought was his limit.

"Are-Are we doing the right thing, are we sure this is the best course of action?" the green entity asked with a tone of confusion.

"I do not know, but what I do know is this is our last and the only option with have, and I don't know if Icarus will forgive us for what we have done, and what we have taken from them." The purple entity responded, still watching the screen.

Far behind stood a clear glass tube with several tubes connected to it as wires slowly separated from a humanoid entity. The being was a dark gray with various wings extending from its body, with one large wing forming a cape. The wings themselves were a lighter gray with dark orange tints, and its one singular yellow eye stared out of the tube, lifeless and machine-like.

The neon green was slowly approaching the machine just as the last of the wires were separated from the body. Soon after, the purple entity approached from behind and began to circle the tube, examining the subject from head to toe.

"Subject Harpy is ready to be deployed, correct?"

"Yes, Harpy is ready to be sent to..." The green energy entity said as they began fiddling with an odd piece of technology that had all of Earth mapped out.

"Gotham, yes, the mystical energy their provide a weak point in space-time, allowing ease of access and possibilities to create more portal locations across the globe."

"Then please prepare a portal and send Subject Harpy, by the time Icraus reaches Earth, they should just be entering reality, just as they enter the atmosphere." The purple being said, and soon after, a portal full of bright colors opened underneath Harpy, sending the humanoid being through.

"I just hope this will be worth it." The purple being said as the Harpy's head disappeared, closing the portal behind them.
