Chapter 115 - Decomposition

"So it's student Lu. Please, let me show you around," Manager Akel was very enthusiastic. Although he was a little surprised to hear Lu Yin's name, he quickly concealed it. In the universe, the surname Lu was very rare.

Lu Yin looked up. The sky of this planet was a sickly yellow, with no sun in sight. Above was a thick layer of yellow clouds, giving a sense of oppression.

"No need, Manager Akel. Just take me to the place to complete the mission," Lu Yin said directly.

Akel nodded. "Alright, please board the flyer."

Lu Yin and Akel boarded a large flyer. Soon, the flyer sped away from the space station and flew into the distance.

"Student Lu, this planet is filled with irritating gases and is not suitable for survival. That's why our Taku Iyo company bought it to exclusively store scrap machinery. You see, scrap machinery products are everywhere, including scrap spaceships, personal flyers, and even weapons and battle armor, you name it..." Akel introduced.

Lu Yin's gaze was calm. This was a planet nearing death. Perhaps it had once given birth to a civilization similar to Earth, but today, for various reasons, it was almost destroyed and could only be used as a junkyard.

Perhaps in another hundred thousand years, this planet would no longer exist.

The land was dry and barren, without even basic water resources.

Many people in space suits were searching for something. These people were all slaves brought by the Taku Iyo company from savage planets, to find slightly useful items for them. There were many such people. Back then, if Lu Yin hadn't protected Earth, the evolved people on it would have been sent to the battlefield, and the ordinary people would have ended up like these people, living their whole lives under the shadow of a waste planet, being garbage bugs until death.

"Which type of decomposer is student Lu accustomed to using?" Manager Akel asked.

The universe had too much garbage, a considerable part of which was the result of human creation. Although these products were discarded, many companies would separate useful materials from this scrap and re-manufacture them. This method could save costs and also effectively clean up cosmic garbage. And the tool for separating materials was called a decomposer.

Lu Yin had investigated this in the past two days. Cultivators used Star Energy to peel off different materials through a decomposer. Generally, the better the control over Star Energy, the more materials could be peeled off. This was also one of the reasons the Tenth Academy accepted this mission; it could train Star Energy.

"I don't need a decomposer," Lu Yin said calmly.

Manager Akel was stunned, staring at Lu Yin. "Student Lu, what did you say?"

Lu Yin frowned. "Prepare a quiet place for me. I don't need a decomposer."

Manager Akel's eyes glinted. He nodded and ordered the flyer to change direction.

Half an hour later, beside a hill, the flyer stopped. "Student Lu, there is no one here, and there is a lot of scrap machinery around. You can do as you please. Don't worry, no one is monitoring."

Lu Yin got off the flyer and breathed in the pungent gas. This kind of gas was no different from poison to ordinary people, but for a cultivator like him, it was fine, just a bit unpleasant to smell.

"I will have someone prepare an air freshener for you," Manager Akel said quickly.

Lu Yin waved his hand. "No need. You can go. I'll call you when I'm done."

Manager Akel didn't stand on ceremony any longer, boarded the flyer, and left.

As soon as he left, he opened his personal communicator. "General Manager, the student from the Tenth Academy doesn't need a decomposer. He's either relying on Star Energy or his talent."

"It must be his talent. Someone who can dismantle materials with just Star Energy could already test to be a decipherer; they wouldn't take on this kind of mission. Don't worry about him. We'll talk after the results are out," a pleasant female voice came through.

Manager Akel quickly acknowledged.

The hill was not high. Lu Yin flew into the sky and looked around. Countless towering scrap machines were discarded on the ground, some large, some small. The largest one stretched into the distance; it must have been a large spaceship.

The sickly yellow clouds floated in the sky. Lu Yin moved his limbs. "I can begin. I hope I can roll two pips." With that, he took out the die.

At this moment, the die emitted a hazy starlight, no need to replenish it with Star Energy. After so many days, it should have recovered on its own.

Swallowing, Lu Yin was very nervous every time he rolled the die.

He tapped his finger, and the die spun rapidly, finally stopping on one pip. With a clink, a battle saber fell out. Lu Yin picked it up and looked at it. With a little force, it was not bad, suitable for a Melting Realm cultivator, but useless to him.

He took out a cubic meter of Star Crystals from his spatial ring and crushed it. The die recovered again. Lu Yin continued and tapped his finger once more.

His luck was good; he directly got two pips. The decomposition vortex appeared.

Lu Yin was overjoyed; this was it. Without hesitation, he immediately crushed eighteen cubic meters of Star Crystals. This decomposition vortex, like the time-stopped space, could have its duration increased with Star Energy. One cubic meter of Star Crystals could increase the time by 160 minutes, double that of the time-stopped space. Eighteen cubic meters of Star Crystals was enough to keep this vortex going for a whole day.

"But it's a bit small," Lu Yin muttered to himself, casually picking up a discarded instrument nearby and throwing it into the vortex. Passing through the vortex in an instant, some unknown materials fell out at a very fast speed.

Lu Yin took a deep breath. "Time to work." With that, he pushed a mountain of garbage towards the decomposition vortex. Although the vortex was small, anything that passed through its range would be dismantled. Lu Yin could only push back and forth. The mountain-like garbage took him a full two hours to dismantle completely. And on the ground, a lot of materials had piled up, of all kinds, though he didn't recognize them.

Recalling the situation when he dismantled the spatial ring before, Lu Yin guessed that these materials could be further dismantled to obtain more precious things. But after thinking about it, he didn't do so. His dismantling speed was already astonishing enough. If he dismantled those precious materials as well, who knew what would happen.

A day passed just like that. Lu Yin spent a day dismantling a large amount of scrap machinery. The area around the hill had become a bit more empty, and the dismantled materials were piled up like a mountain.

"I wonder how much income this will bring," Lu Yin thought, then crushed another eighteen cubic meters of crystals. "Another day."

Two days later, Manager Akel received a notification and hurriedly flew his flyer towards Lu Yin's location.

When he saw the two small mountains of dismantled materials, Manager Akel rubbed his eyes hard. It was real, it was really real. He had actually dismantled so much in two days? Even a Limiteer Realm cultivator using the most effective decomposer would take a month to dismantle this much! This efficiency was too high!

For a moment, Manager Akel looked at Lu Yin as if he were looking at a god.

Lu Yin coughed. "How is it, Manager Akel, is it enough?"

Manager Akel quickly said, "It's enough, it's enough. Your mission is complete, and you've exceeded the quota. Student Lu, uh... did you do all of this by yourself?"

He couldn't help but be suspicious. In the past, there had been students who, in order to complete the Academy's mission, had brought a lot of materials themselves and claimed they were dismantled. In fact, they didn't care; those materials were considered purchased, and there was still a profit to be made. It was mutually beneficial. But what was before him now was too much. How many spatial rings did he bring? Was it real or fake? Could he really dismantle things that fast?

Lu Yin said calmly, "Please help me calculate the payment."

Manager Akel quickly acknowledged and had someone settle the payment for Lu Yin, while at the same time contacting the general manager, who was the person in charge of the Taku Iyo company in the Canglan territory.

"Impossible. A student can't dismantle that fast, unless he's a decipherer," the pleasant female voice said firmly.

Manager Akel said, "I'll ask him."

"No need to ask. It must be fake. A decipherer wouldn't care about this small payment, nor would they waste time doing this kind of thing. Let that student go."

"Then... the mission progress?"

"Exceeded the quota."

"Yes." Manager Akel cut off the light screen. On the other side, Lu Yin had already received his payment. He had spent two days dismantling a mountain of materials. More than half were worthless, just ordinary hard metals. But there were also valuable special materials, all sold by weight. These materials added up to several tons, worth about 10 billion universe coins. So, his final share of the payment was more than three billion universe coins.

Lu Yin did a quick calculation. The scrap machinery he had dismantled in these two days, if intact, would be worth no less than a hundred billion universe coins. The Taku Iyo company had acquired them at an extremely low price, then hired cultivators like them to dismantle them, re-manufacture the materials, and sell the finished products for hundreds of billions. Even after deducting their pay, they could still make a profit of over 10 billion. It was an absolute huge profit.

And the warranty repairs, maintenance, training, and so on for those machines all cost a lot of money. That money would also be paid to the Taku Iyo company. Their money flowed in endlessly. No wonder they had the money to buy a planet to use as a junkyard.

Lu Yin felt his eyes turn red with envy. Just how rich was this company? And this company was just one in the Outerverse. Compared to other major powers, it was nothing, not to mention Mebis Bank.
