Chapter 118 - Chapter 118: Almighty Bulbasaur

Seeing Bulbasaur, and confirming that it had been transferred, it then called out to Ash and the others.

"Then Professor, please transfer Bulbasaur over!" Ash looked at Bulbasaur and smiled, then turned to Professor Oak and said.

"No problem, but you must have already caught 6 Pokémon. Which one are you planning to exchange?" Professor Oak nodded upon hearing this, and at the same time, asked Ash.

"Hmm~~~ I'll send Butterfree over!" Ash thought for a moment. Currently, among his Pokémon, Eevee, Axew, and Pidgeotto still needed training.

Butterfree and Gyarados had already evolved. Although they were still training, they could be sent over for Professor Oak to look after for now.

He had Pidgeotto and Butterfree, both Flying-types, but since Pidgeotto hadn't evolved yet, he decided to send Butterfree first.

"Butterfree? No problem. Let's start the exchange now!" Professor Oak didn't waste any time. After all, he was very busy.

"Alright, come on in, Bulbasaur!" Professor Oak took out a Poké Ball and recalled Bulbasaur, then walked to the transfer machine.

Meanwhile, Ash released Butterfree and explained the situation, telling it not to neglect its training. Although Butterfree was a bit reluctant, it nodded, then prepared for transfer. Both sides placed their Poké Balls on the teleporters.

Then, he pressed the transfer button. Soon, a current was released from above the teleporter, enveloping the Poké Ball. The Poké Ball was quickly sucked away by a force.

Then, the light dissipated, and another Poké Ball descended, falling into the teleporter's slot. Ash took out the Poké Ball, and Professor Oak also walked to the front of the screen.

"I've received it, Ash!" Professor Oak held the Poké Ball and waved slightly, then opened the Poké Ball.

Butterfree appeared on the screen, lying on the screen and chirping, seemingly saying goodbye to Ash. Ash also said goodbye to Butterfree, chatted with the Professor for a few more words, then hung up the phone.

"Come on out, Bulbasaur!"

Everyone went outside, and Ash released Bulbasaur.

"Please take good care of me from now on, Bulbasaur!" Ash looked at Bulbasaur and slowly extended his hand.

Bulbasaur responded by extending a Vine Whip and shaking hands like a human. After that, Green helped Bulbasaur with its injuries one last time, and then it was time to part ways.

"Then we'll take our leave!" A lot of time was wasted coming and going. After the treatment was complete, Ash bid farewell to Green.

Green also brought her Pokémon to see Ash and the others, and Bulbasaur, off.

"Hm! I hope you can train this child well. And Bulbasaur, you too, grow well by Ash's side."

Green also nodded slightly. In the end, she was still a little worried about Bulbasaur, but she trusted Ash very much, otherwise, she wouldn't have given Bulbasaur to Ash.

Bulba!!!

Bulbasaur also responded. Then the three left with Bulbasaur. This time it was a real parting. After experiencing the ups and downs, Brock no longer looked so reluctant.

The group continued their journey, still heading for Vermilion City. However, they wasted a lot of effort along the way.

It was already afternoon when they left Green's place. After walking for several hours, they were still in the jungle. Dusk covered them, and it was approaching night, so they had to stop and camp.

Everyone was used to this situation, and with Brock joining, the quality of their camping life greatly improved, so there was nothing to complain about.

At night, after dinner, Ash, as usual, trained with his Pokémon. After Pikachu mastered Electro Ball, his training temporarily came to an end.

Ash gave the Power Enhancer to Axew. Bulbasaur had just joined, so Ash learned about its current abilities and moves.

In fact, Bulbasaur had very rich combat experience, had accumulated strong energy within its body, and had already learned many moves.

Ash had Bulbasaur try all of its moves, then confirmed the moves it could currently use.

Tackle, Vine Whip, Razor Leaf, Leech Seed, Synthesis, Sleep Powder. Its moves could be considered diverse, and it could attack, heal, and control. It was an all-rounder, truly worthy of being the one who could learn Solar Beam in its first stage.

But to be honest, it had learned so many moves, already exceeding its inherent level. Logically, it should have evolved long ago, but it was still a Bulbasaur.

Training continued late into the night. Brock and Misty were preparing to rest, and the Pokémon were also finding places to rest near the tents. Ash sat on a tree stump, looking at the sky. Bulbasaur also came and lay down beside him.

"You're not resting yet?" Ash turned to look at Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur lay beside Ash and responded.

Bulba!!!

Although Ash didn't have Green's ability to understand Pokémon language, he could still understand.

"When you were with Green, you had to keep watch at night. Have you gotten used to it?" Ash looked at him and expressed his guess, not knowing if it was correct, but this was the only way for humans and Pokémon to communicate.

Bulbasaur nodded human-like. Because it used to protect other Pokémon, it would keep watch at night and only rest after confirming there was no danger.

Although it left with Ash, this habit couldn't be changed. Ash didn't mind this, as it wasn't a bad thing for Bulbasaur.

"Then everyone's safety is up to you!" he continued, looking at the sky.

Bulba!!!

"By the way, you've defeated so many people and Pokémon, and learned so many moves. You should have been able to evolve a long time ago, right? Why don't you evolve?"

Ash looked at the Bulbasaur beside him. Although he had watched the anime, he still couldn't quite understand. Although evolving would indeed lose many things, it would also gain a lot in return. For Pikachu, it was a different story.

For Pikachu, losing speed after evolving was one thing, but Ash now believed that the biggest reason Pikachu didn't evolve was probably its unwillingness to stay in a Poké Ball.

After evolving into Raichu, its body would naturally grow larger, and its weight would increase, unlike its usual ability to comfortably sit on Ash's shoulder.

If it acted on its own, due to its size, it would not only cause trouble but also decrease its speed, so it couldn't move freely outside its Poké Ball like before.
