Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: A Glimpse Through Glass

---

Arashi — Tokyo Streets, Out of Breath

He had arrived at Ken's new academy address just before sunset, heart hammering, soaked in rain from the sudden storm.

The receptionist blinked in surprise.

"Uh… Coach Ken left for dinner with a colleague. You just missed them."

Arashi clenched his jaw.

> Always one step behind.

He rushed out, determined not to let this end in silence. Not again.

---

Ken — Inside a Small Restaurant

It was a warm, cozy place — wooden interiors, low lights, soft laughter. Ken sat across from his new colleague, Daichi — the tall, good-looking assistant coach who had been showing him around.

Daichi laughed at something Ken said, leaning closer with a friendly hand on his shoulder.

Ken smiled faintly, but his heart wasn't really in it. His mind kept drifting back. Back to lips he had kissed under moonlight. Back to a balcony he had left behind.

But he shook it off.

> "That was the past."

He reached for his tea when Daichi suddenly wiped a drop from the corner of his mouth with a napkin.

"Ken, you gotta be more careful," Daichi said gently.

They both chuckled.

Through the window — across the street — someone was watching.

---

Arashi — Frozen Outside

There he was.

Ken. Laughing. With someone else.

The man touched Ken's face like it was normal. Like he had the right.

Arashi's entire chest tightened.

He reached out — hand pressing to the glass, but he didn't knock. Didn't move. Just watched.

And then…

Ken turned.

Their eyes met through the window.

Ken's smile faded instantly.

The air between them turned cold. Still. Unreadable.

And Ken—

Ken looked away.

Arashi's hand dropped.

> "I'm too late."

He backed away into the night.

Ken — After That Glance

His fingers trembled around the teacup.

Daichi tilted his head. "You okay?"

Ken forced a smile. "Yeah. Just remembered something."

But in his heart, something cracked.

> Arashi was here.

> And he left.

Why?

Why didn't he come in?

Why now?

His chest tightened with confusion and hurt. But he said nothing.

> Because he was too afraid to ask.

---

Arashi — Hotel Room, 1:37 AM

He sat on the edge of the bed, soaked, silent.

His phone blinked with a new message from Mikasa.

"Did you find him?"

He didn't respond.

He didn't know what to say.

> "I did. But he looked away."

He tossed the phone aside and lay down, staring at the ceiling.

> "Maybe he doesn't want to be found."
