Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- Haven Philips

I sat in the car still trying to convince mom to let me stay in my old school. Life was easier there, well when I got used to being bullied every single day. To mom, she was lifting weights off my shoulder, but to me, she was adding a big kg of weight bars. Looking at mom's reaction I knew that there was no going back, now all I have to do is comply.

I guess I should get ready to begin a new phase of being bullied. Out of all the school's to go to, why do I have to be enrolled in a rich highschool. I would prefer a public school, at least I could sit in the bathroom and have lunch alone, I don't see any problem there.

After some minutes we finally arrived at the school. The building was humongous, students were seen in fashionable outfits and latest trending hairstyles. Well in my case, I'm not the dressing type. I like to keep it simple, so I wore an oversized sweater, sweatpants, pam flips, my ancestral bracelet passed down from generations and lastly, I kept my hair in a messy bun. - sounds worthy of being bullied right? Yeah.

After a few minutes of pleading and not willing to get out of the car. My stubbornness paid off no heed. I was dragged out by mom, she hugged me, blew me kisses, got into the car and waved goodbye.

I stood there looking at the school, when a girl approached me with a big smile on her face. She had shoulder-length dark brown hair, and bright brown eyes, standing around 5'5 in height, with a slender yet athletic build and a casual style that reflected her personality.

'Oh no, what does she want now?'. I whispered to myself.

"Hi, I'm Lory Evan and I'm reporting for duty. Ha, just kidding. I was appointed by the principal to show a girl that goes by the name, Haven Philips, around the school and the important facts that she needs to know. So I'm guessing, you are Haven?"

"Yes, I am". I mumbled.

"Follow me please, as I show you around and give you your timetable for your classes today".

"Actually, you don't need to stress yourself with that whole process. I'll find my way around here on my own. It shouldn't be that hard, am I right?". I said as I walked away from the girl.

"It isn't that easy, I got lost when I first came here". She said as she followed me.

"Well we both are two completely different specie". I said as I walked faster. She kept on following me and that resulted in me running.

You must think that I'm a psycho running, huh? I thought so.

I ran into a crowd of cheer leaders, then hid behind the little edge of the building. I watched her as her eyes roamed through the cheer squad. She finally gave up and headed back to the entrance of the school.

I breathed a sigh of relief as I came out into the open. My pam flips felt stuck to the ground, I had stepped on gum.

"Ugh, just the first day and I'm already sick of it". I said to myself as I bent over to remove the gum.

"Hey newbie! Get out of there". A voice shouted, I stood up straight to see what was happening.

I saw a baseball flying with speed towards my direction. I closed my eyes waiting to feel the hit, because I couldn't reason my body to move.

The next sound I heard was the noise of a batt hitting a ball.

I opened my eyes slowly and saw a guy standing in front of me with a batt. He was faced in the opposite direction, so I couldn't see his face. He was dressed in a baseball jersey and it's matching hat. He stood there as he watched the ball fly back to the field.

He then slowly turned, revealing his light blue eyes, pointed nose, chiseled jawline, rose shade lips and lastly his gorgeous face. I stood there dumbfounded, I then managed to mumble a word.

"Th...thanks".

He didn't respond, but rather he removed his hat, revealingly his straight dark brown hair. He stared at me for some seconds, and was about to say something Then a guy in the field shouted "Take your position's, two...nil".

He then wore his hat again and raced into the field, leaving me there with my ignored thanks.

'Wow, such a nice gentleman'. I said to myself sarcastically. I heard the bell ring and I'm guessing it's the beginning of my class. I raced towards the entrance of the school, bumping into people and not apologizing. I had no clue of where to go, I just kept on running upstairs and finally stopped in front of a door which label read 'AP Science '.

I took in a deep breath and crossed my fingers, hoping that I arrived at the right class. I slowly opened the door and saw a bunch of teens sit quietly and bring out their notebooks. I entered and went straight to the back of the class which was empty because the front seats were occupied by the teens. I brought out my note book and waited for a teacher to come in.

After a few minutes, an old lady walked in, she introduced herself as Mrs.Heidi, she was our substitute teacher and had to fill in because of the recent illness of the main AP science teacher.

Suddenly the door flung open and a familiar face walked in. It was that guy that I had seen on the field. But he looked a bit different this time, he had an eyebrow piercing and curly dark brown hair, though other facial features were the same. He was dressed in a black V-neck tank top, topped on with jacket and blue ripped jeans. He walked in with his head held high as he found his way to the back seat. I stared at him, to his notice he stared back then tilted his head to the opposite direction. He didn't seem like he remembered me, something was off. Maybe he did remember me, but chose to ignore me.

'Why am I so interested in this guy?'. I whispered to myself as I shifted back my focus to the lesson. One hour later, the lesson was up and everyone stood up as they exited the class. I went to the teacher's desk and told her to explain the assignment to me. She did, and soon I was out of the class.

I still didn't have a timetable, I had no idea of which class I had next. I sluggishly walked downstairs as I opened every single door asking 'what class is this?' and being ignored. I checked the time, then the bell rang alerting the teens of the beginning of their next class. I was hopeless and recited a short prayer with closed eyes, I then opened my eyes and nothing happened.

God, where are you right now when I need you?

I sighed and turned to head back upstairs. When I heard my name being screamed I quickly turned, to my surprise I saw that girl I had seen earlier.

Oh, guess I spoke too soon. Love you God!.

"HAVEN PHILIPS!". She shouted.

"Oh, how happy I am to see you Nory". I said with a smile.

"It's Lory. But why did you run off earlier?". She asked with a disappointed expression on her face.

"So deeply sorry about that. I now realize how much big of a fool I was to run away. Can you by any chance tell and show me the direction to my next class?". I asked with a mild innocent smile.

"Your next class is in the field". She said.

"What?". I said surprised.

"Yeah, you have a baseball game now with your class".

"Not to intrude, but which class are you in?". I asked inquisitively.

"I'll leave that up to your imaginations. Right now, I need to get you on that field". She said smiling.

"Now would you please follow me and please don't run again".

"I won't. I've learnt my lesson". I said as I chuckled and followed her quietly.
