Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Orphanage – Lucas’s Early Childhood Education: A Parent’s Best Choice

When Lucas casually introduced the idea of a "scavenger hunt," the viewers in his live broadcast room were still trying to process his words.

But then came the kicker.

Unlimited number of Aunt Chloe's left index fingers...

> : Wait. Wait. WAIT. Did I hear that right? An Aunt Chloe only has one left index finger! If there's no limit, Lucas wants these kids to hunt all the Aunt Chloes??

> : So basically, we're sending these kids to hunt every remaining Aunt Chloe. This man's insane.

> : Insane? Use your head. You think these are ordinary children?

> : Damn... I didn't expect Lucas to solve the threat like this. Zero effort on his part, maximum bloodshed.

> : But... will rewards even satisfy these kids?

They didn't need to wait long for the answer.

The camera cut to the children in the activity room.

Their reactions were almost scripted:

Fearful expressions slowly melted into confusion—then gave way to eager excitement.

Charlie and Lily had already been bragging for days about the "gifts" Lucas had given them. Whether it was a kitchen knife, a haunted doll, or a whispered mantra about fresh brain supplements, the two of them flaunted it like treasure.

In Charlie's words, Lucas was:

"The strongest, smartest, and most perfect big brother."

Though other children had previously only watched him from afar—some with curiosity, most with terror—they now burned with anticipation.

After all, Lucas had promised rewards. Real ones.

[System Updating... Children evolving...]

Seeing all this, Lucas couldn't help but smile.

"They're growing so well..."

He leaned back in the chair, folding his arms.

"Alright then. Off you go. Begin the game."

The children let out a cheer.

Like ants swarming after spilled sugar, they scattered in groups, hunting down Aunt Chloe with uncontainable glee.

Within minutes, Lucas was left alone in the activity room.

"No one knows the orphanage better than they do. And no one knows Aunt Chloe's hiding spots like these kids."

This, he believed, was the safest route forward.

> : That's evil. Brilliant—but evil.

: Only Lucas would think of weaponizing a class of toddlers.

: And only Lucas would succeed at it.

: Followed. This streamer's on a different wavelength.

: He's already a Supernova! That's not just interesting—it's terrifying.

The system, anticipating peak viewership, thoughtfully split the live feed.

Lucas remained in the main screen.

But small picture-in-picture windows appeared—each showing a different child's POV as they pursued their "scavenger hunt."

The first to act?

Charlie.

Now armed with the [Hannibal's Knife and Fork], Charlie was unstoppable.

He called over two friends and tiptoed to a second-floor bedroom.

There, sleeping soundly, was another Aunt Chloe.

She stirred awake as they approached.

"It's your entertainment time," she yawned. "What are you doing here?"

Charlie grinned.

In his sweetest voice, he said the most horrifying words:

"We want your fingers!"

Before Aunt Chloe could react, Charlie pounced.

The knife-and-fork set worked like a charm.

He sliced off her left index finger and passed it to his two grinning friends, who ran off cheering with their prize.

Aunt Chloe screamed—but only for a second.

Charlie, still grinning, licked the blood from his hand and set his sights on her forehead.

Then came the crack of bone.

Her body slumped to the side.

Charlie chewed contentedly.

His mouth and fingers gleamed crimson.

"Big brother was right," he whispered joyfully. "Fresh brains really do help you grow smarter."

Lucas closed the prompt and nodded slowly.

"So items linked to children can evolve… And Charlie's reached the next stage. Beautiful."

He crossed his legs and rested his kitchen knife across his lap.

Then he waited.

The first finger was on its way.

Meanwhile, other kids were scoring their own wins.

Lily, alongside a couple friends, found another Aunt Chloe lurking just behind the activity room, clearly preparing to make her move.

Caught off guard, Chloe's eyes widened.

"How did you find me?!"

Lily smiled sweetly and pointed behind her.

"Annabelle told me. My big brother gave her to me."

Aunt Chloe turned.

Behind her, on her shoulder, was a doll—grotesque, with eyes sewn shut and lips crudely stitched in a grim smile.

The mouth slowly… unstitched.

Too late.

Aunt Chloe's scream was muffled by the burst of blood.

In the laundry room, Ellie approached another Aunt Chloe.

This one knelt down warmly. "Yuanyuan, what brings you here?"

Ellie tilted her head, flashing an eerily sweet smile.

"I came just for you, Aunt Chloe."

The woman never saw the thin wire in Ellie's hand.

Her smile never faded. Her blood simply bloomed across the tile.

Blood.

Everywhere.

The Angel Orphanage was no longer a sanctuary.

It had become a playground of death.

Children giggled and laughed, racing around like it was recess at school.

Except now, their shoes left bloody footprints.

[Branch Quest – "Aunt Chloe's Sisters" Progressing…]

[Exploration Progress: 38%… 43%… 47%…]

[Additional branches unlocked…]

Back in the activity room, Lucas quietly sipped from a warm cup of tea.

"Smart children always just need a gentle push."

He reached up and adjusted his collar.

"I provide that push. That's all."
