Chapter 298 - On Mom Time Now

I jolted awake with that terrible disorientation that comes from sleeping too deeply after not sleeping enough. My eyes felt like they had sand in them, and my brain seemed to be operating through thick fog. Blinking rapidly, I focused on the bedside clock and nearly had a heart attack.

10:37 AM.

"What?!" I shot upright in bed, immediately looking for Rhys in his bassinet. Empty.

For two weeks straight, our newborn son had been a colicky nightmare. The moment the sun went down, he transformed from angelic baby to screaming banshee. Kaelen and I had been taking shifts, but even with supernatural stamina, we were both zombies.

Last night had been particularly rough. I'd been up with him until nearly 4 AM when Kaelen had finally taken over, practically prying Rhys from my exhausted arms.

"I've got him," he'd insisted, his voice gruff with fatigue but determined. "Get some sleep, little wolf."
