Morning light filtered through the curtains as I sat in Kaelen's office, my leg bouncing nervously under the table. The impending war strategy meeting had my wolf on edge—or maybe she was just bored with all the planning sessions. Either way, she was restless beneath my skin, pacing and whining in my mind.
"Stop fidgeting," Kaelen murmured from across the desk, not looking up from his papers.
I stilled my leg. "Sorry. My wolf is...antsy."
He glanced up then, those green eyes sending a jolt through me. "The meeting starts in fifteen minutes. Try to settle her."
Easier said than done. My wolf was relatively new to me, and controlling her impulses was still a work in progress. She'd been growing more assertive lately, especially around Kaelen. I closed my eyes, trying to center myself.
*Behave,* I told my wolf internally.
