Chapter 21 - An Alpha's Confession

I stalked through the corridors of my own home like a caged animal. My wolf was restless beneath my skin, pacing and snarling in a way I hadn't experienced since I was a teenager first learning control. The cause of this turmoil? A small, golden-eyed human woman carrying my child.

What was happening to me? This intensity wasn't normal. Not for a simple surrogate arrangement. Not even for a mother carrying an Alpha's heir.

My wolf had become almost obsessively protective, demanding constant access to her, insisting I scent mark her at every opportunity. Last night in the shower had pushed my self-control to its limits. The memory of water cascading down her naked body made my jaw clench. The fact that I'd managed to keep my hands mostly professional was nothing short of miraculous.

"Fuck," I muttered, running a hand through my hair.
