Chapter 2 - Letter Across Time

Alex sits on a table holding Eleanor's letter and a few minutes later he starts to write

Alex Hopper: (Writing)

Dear Eleanor

Your words feel like they've been plucked straight from a novel, I can't help but picture you sitting at your desk in 1943 with the world outside so different from mine

You asked about 2023 where do I even begin? The good news is that we've made incredible progress like we've walked on the moon all though some people who are brain less argue that its fake, we have built machine that could fit in our pockets and connect us to anyone anywhere, and we've seen diseases cured that were once thought unstoppable, but it's not all sunshine, people still argue, still fight, we're not perfect

You said the war hasn't taken your hope, and that is stuck with me, I wonder if I've been losing mine without realizing it, writing has always been my dream but sometimes it feels like I am not making any progress with it

Tell me more about you Eleanor, what keeps your hope alive?

Sincerely

Alex

He folds the letter carefully and places it in an envelope, slips the letter inside the mailbox, as he does that there is a beep sound

Time passes, days turn into weeks, Alex is reading the newspaper about a scientist who says time traveling is possible… he sits on his table and starts writing his script called The Zombie Plague A Scientist's Perspective

As he is writing the script he hears a beep sound from the attic, he gets excited and runs towards the attic

Alex Hopper: Ok lets see what the past has to say

He opens the letter and begin reading, Eleanor's voiceover starting once again

Dear Alex

Your letter made me smile in a way I haven't in a long time, to think that the world could hold such wonders! Walking on the moon… I can hardly imagine it and machines that connects everyone? It feels like magic

As for what keeps my hope alive… perhaps it's the belief that even in the darkest times there is light somewhere, my family taught me that… my father always said, that hope isn't about what you see it's about what you believe

You mentioned feeling like you are not making any process, that must be sad but you should know that your words have reached me across time itself, if that isn't proof that your voice plays some important role in the past then I don't know what is

Tell me Alex, what stories do you dream of writing?

Sincerely

Eleanor

Alex sits back staring at the letter in a look of amazement, after a while he begins to write his reply immediately

Alex Hopper: (Writing)

Dear Eleanor

You asked about the stories I want to write, well I want to write anything except super hero things, I want to write about people, about their struggles, their dreams and the way they find strength

But lately I've been stuck, I keep wondering what story should I write, cause I have no story in my head and even if I have one I don't get any ideas to continue it

You mentioned your father's words about hope, and they've been playing in my mind all day, maybe that's what my writing is missing… hope

Tell me more about your family, what were they like? And if it's not too bold to ask, what dreams do you have?

Sincerely

Alex

As Alex places the letter in the mailbox, the camera cuts to Eleanor's desk in 1943, she's holding Alex's letter filled with wonder, she picks up her pen and begins to write

Eleanor: (Writing)

Dear Alex

Your words feel like a friend sitting beside me, sharing secrets and dreams, I'm glad my father's words gave you something to hold on to, he was a quiet man but his strength was boundless, my mother was his opposite, they taught me that life is a dance between light and dark and you need both to find balance

As for my dreams… I suppose they're simpler than yours, I want to see the world and travel beyond this small city, somethings I feel trapped here like I'm waiting for something, though I don't know what

Tell me Alex do you ever feel like that?

Sincerely

Eleanor

She folds the letter and places it in the mailbox smiling

Cut to

Alex hears a beep and takes the letter out of the mailbox and starts reading her letter, after he reads it, he starts writing her

Alex Hopper: (Writing)

Dear Eleanor

I know what it feels like to wait, though to wonder when things will finally change, but maybe life isn't about waiting for something to happen

Eleanor, do you think that we're meant to find the things we wait for? Or are we supposed to chase them instead?

Sincerely

Alex

He finishes writing the letter and places it in the mailbox
