Universe Six actually had Black Star Dragon Balls! Raditz's expression changed drastically.
The Black Star Dragon Balls were created through the intervention of evil power, which meant a Namekian with malicious intent had crafted them—and that Namekian was either still alive or had passed on their power.
As far as Raditz knew, these Dragon Balls possessed more powerful abilities than Earth's standard set, but once a wish was granted, they would scatter throughout the universe. If not collected within one year, the planet where the wish was made would explode.
"Raditz, those Dragon Balls..." Zangya also noticed the problem, her brow furrowing with concern.
"Yes, those are Black Star Dragon Balls. They bring terrible disasters." Raditz's eyes narrowed. "I didn't expect to encounter such things here. The Universal Chamber of Commerce truly is remarkable."
Renso listened to their discussion with deep curiosity. "What's going on? Aren't Dragon Balls on Namek?"
His leg had been restored thanks to the Dragon Balls' blessing. Both Raditz and Cabba had confirmed the Dragon Balls were on Namek, so the Chamber of Commerce producing seven beads claiming to be Dragon Balls naturally made him skeptical.
Raditz smiled faintly. "These aren't ordinary Dragon Balls—the color of the stars in the center is wrong..." He explained the Dragon Balls' creation process and the causes and dangers of the Black Star variants, leaving Renso frozen in shock.
The price of making a wish was destroying a planet? Weren't these Dragon Balls far too dangerous? If obtained by someone with evil intentions, not only could terrible wishes be realized, but beautiful planets might be destroyed in the process.
"Then we have to buy them and destroy them!" Renso exclaimed.
"That's not up to you—others are already eyeing them." Raditz glanced around at the people eagerly awaiting the bidding. "Some people won't care even knowing they'll destroy a planet. Their wishes may be worth more than any world. Perhaps they'll choose an uninhabited planet to make their wish? Not everyone seeking the Black Star Dragon Balls is evil."
Regarding Renso's suggestion, Raditz remained noncommittal. Now that he'd become a deity, he saw things more clearly. The Black Star Dragon Balls' existence had meaning. Their side effects and abilities weren't completely contradictory—it all depended on who used them. Renso was eager to destroy them for justice's sake, but justice didn't require his personal guardianship.
At least Raditz, as Supreme Kai of Universe Seven, didn't intend to interfere.
There was one thing he couldn't figure out, though. If the Chamber had obtained all seven Dragon Balls, why hadn't they simply made a wish? They could have all the money they wanted!
But if he'd obtained the Black Star Dragon Balls, he'd want to try making a wish: that the planet wouldn't be destroyed within a year. Would Shenron's active desire contradict the passive destruction effect? Perhaps it would create a paradox?
"Alright, enough talk—let's begin the auction! But..." The host picked up a hammer and struck hard against four of the orbs. With a sharp crack, the four spheres shattered into transparent fragments while the black stars in their centers turned into cloudy liquid that pooled on the tray.
"What's happening?!" Everyone shouted in surprise.
They never expected the host would smash the Dragon Balls herself! Weren't these auction items?
"Don't be confused. Only six of the Dragon Balls in this set are genuine—one of the four I just destroyed was a fake placed in the center for aesthetic symmetry. Dragon Balls can fulfill any wish. If you obtained all seven, no price could match their value. The Chamber of Commerce couldn't possibly auction such power."
"I knew it couldn't be that simple."
"But if there are only six, that makes no sense at all!"
"Right, six is the same as none!"
Everyone discussed and grew increasingly agitated, which pleased the host immensely. It showed they were already hooked. After attracting people's interest, this was the Chamber's domain.
The host smiled and clapped coquettishly, suppressing the discussions. "Don't worry, everyone. Though there are only six Dragon Balls, their value remains immeasurable. Just imagine—you need only find one more sphere, regardless of how difficult the search, and any desire can be fulfilled. There was once a fierce civil war among humans on a planet over just one of these Dragon Balls, which led to humanity's destruction. Now six are being auctioned simultaneously—an unprecedented opportunity."
"Excuse me, what was that planet's name?" Raditz couldn't help interjecting.
Everyone paused. This man not only bid strangely but asked strange questions too.
The host could tell Raditz was wealthy, so she replied, "I heard it was called Earth, though it's not particularly famous."
As expected—Universe Six's Earth. Raditz laughed silently.
When he'd heard the host mention disasters caused by Black Star Dragon Balls, he'd thought of Universe Six's Earth. Humanity there had nearly gone extinct due to civil war. The reason? Humans had stupidly competed for the Black Star Dragon Balls to obtain the power to rule everything.
The tragic part was they hadn't even determined how many Dragon Balls existed, wiping out their entire species over a single sphere.
Thinking of this, Raditz shook his head repeatedly.
"Then let the auction begin!" The woman didn't even state a starting bid, commencing the competition directly. Her meaning couldn't be clearer—no reserve price, highest bidder wins.
Within mere minutes, the amount on the electronic display became unimaginable. Others began offering entire industries and planets under their control.
Everyone kept raising bets. For the first time, such fierce competition erupted at the venue, the noise resembling people cursing at each other.
"Lord Raditz, don't you want to purchase them?" Renso asked suspiciously, seeing Raditz sitting calmly in his seat.
"Why buy those? Dragon Balls can't be found casually. Besides, aren't those people afraid of being robbed after purchasing them? Making wishes come true isn't so easy." Raditz continued selecting gifts for Zangya and Android 18, speaking unhurriedly. "Furthermore, the Chamber is greatly overestimating the Dragon Balls' capabilities. Many wishes exceed their scope and cannot be fulfilled."
"Ah... there are such limitations?" Renso learned something new.
"The Dragon Balls' energy is related to their size and also connected to their creator's ability. What I'm more concerned about is the person who made these Black Star Dragon Balls."
Indeed, in Raditz's eyes, the Black Star Dragon Balls' effects fell somewhere between ordinary Dragon Balls and Namekian Dragon Balls. Their abilities weren't particularly powerful among Dragon Ball variants—they could only satisfy cosmic merchants who'd reached this level of power. For individuals like Raditz, they had little practical use.
And finding the last Dragon Ball somewhere in the universe might sound simple, but wouldn't be easy at all.
Raditz watched their foolish spectacle without the slightest interest.
