Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: I Trusted Again… and It Hurt Again

After that day, Yuuta started to change.

Not much—just little things.

He smiled a little more. His eyes drifted toward Airi during class.

He tried not to. But they always found her anyway.

> Why does she talk to me?

Why does she smile only at me?

What is this feeling…?

Was this what it meant to fall for someone?

---

But then… it stopped.

Airi didn't come by his desk anymore.

No more after-class chats.

No "good mornings."

Just silence.

Yuuta kept telling himself it was fine.

She was popular. She had her own life. She was busy.

She'd probably just moved on.

But still… he waited.

And then, one day, something unexpected happened.

---

A new student walked into their classroom during lunch break.

Tall. Handsome. Confident.

The kind of guy that made everyone in the room turn to look.

His name was Subaru Kanzaki—a name everyone in school already knew.

Top of his class. Star of the track team.

And now… standing in Yuuta's class for some reason.

He walked straight past everyone, like none of them mattered.

Until he stopped.

Right in front of Airi.

She looked up. Her eyes lit up.

"Subaru-kun! You're here again?"

They started talking. Laughing. It felt natural. Comfortable. Close.

Yuuta stared from his desk, a cold weight pressing on his chest.

> Are they friends?

Just classmates?

No… they must be friends.

But then a loud voice snapped him out of it.

"Haaa?! Airi~ your boyfriend came to visit again?"

It was Sakura, Airi's best friend, teasing with a playful grin.

"You two are so lovey-dovey! Don't leave me behind!"

Airi's face turned bright red.

"W-We're not…! Don't say that in front of everyone!" she stammered, waving her hands in panic.

But Yuuta had heard enough.

His ears rang. His chest tightened. The air around him felt heavy.

He stood up, quietly, and walked out of the classroom.

---

The rooftop was silent.

The wind blew softly, carrying away the noise of the school below.

Yuuta sat against the railing, eyes blank, heart heavy.

"…Why?" he whispered.

A tear slid down his cheek.

 "I trusted her. I finally… trusted someone."

More tears followed.

"I should've known. This is why I stopped trusting people."

He buried his face in his arms.

"Why does it always end the same?"

Poor Yuuta… just when he started to open his heart again, it shatters all over. 💔

But is everything really as it seems between Airi and Subaru? Or is something else going on behind the scenes?
