Over a decade had passed.
Sunagakure had undergone a complete transformation. Rows of buildings and skyscrapers now sprawled out in concentric circles, interspersed with lush green parks and streets. From a bird's-eye view, the layout of the city resembled the pattern of a Bagua diagram.
On the grassy field of a small school playground, a teacher sat surrounded by a group of lively and adorable children.
"Teacher Haku!"
"I suddenly saw a lot of golden tadpoles in my head!"
A chubby little girl with rosy cheeks raised her small hand, her wide eyes brimming with curiosity.
The teacher, an exceptionally gentle and beautiful young man with long hair, dressed in a pink kimono, showed no irritation at the interruption. Instead, he looked at the girl with a gratified expression.
"It's alright, Rina," he said softly.
"Those tadpoles are a gift from the Wind God to maintain peace in this world and protect us from harm."
"Not just you, Rina—your parents, your teacher, and even the little heads of all of you have these tadpoles!"
"That's amazing!"
"What tadpoles?!"
"They're a blessing from the Wind God!"
"Darn it! Why did Rina get noticed by the Wind God so quickly?!"
The children began chattering excitedly, while a blond-haired boy among them clenched his fists in frustration.
"Shōsuke!"
"That's not acceptable!"
"The Wind God is fair; we all live under His watchful gaze..."
"You must study hard so that when you grow up, you can better find what you want to do—a career to contribute to our nation."
The teacher explained gently to the boy.
"Teacher Haku!"
"I've already decided!"
"I'm going to become a National Servant, wear one of those cool demon masks, and help everyone in need all at once!"
The blond-haired boy stood up excitedly, his eyes filled with longing.
"A National Servant, huh?"
"That's the hardest job in our country..."
"Don't you want to try something else? Perhaps a relaxed career as a writer, or maybe becoming an actor or artist?"
The gentle teacher smiled warmly.
"No way!"
"When my grandma's old house collapsed, it was a masked big brother who helped rebuild her new house..."
"He was just like this... swoosh, swoosh, swish swish..."
"In no time at all, a spacious and bright house was built!"
The boy's face turned red with excitement as he gestured wildly, narrating with fervor.
"Oh..."
"So you've met him too, huh?"
"In our country, almost all wooden houses were built by him..."
The gentle teacher tilted his head slightly, as if he were quite familiar with the person the boy had mentioned.
"Teacher! Teacher!"
"Tell me the story of that big brother!"
The boy hurried to the teacher's side, tugging at his arm.
"Him, huh..."
"He wasn't originally from our nation. It was only because of his unique abilities that the Wind God revived him..."
...
Meanwhile, in the bustling commercial district at the heart of the city.
At the corner of a street lined with tall buildings, a rugged man with a thick beard was laboriously hawking his wares.
"Fresh horse sausages!"
"Come and take a look!"
Though the man was older, with some white in his beard, his voice remained robust and full of energy.
"Uncle!"
"You're quite advanced in age—why are you still out here selling horse sausages?"
"Under the Wind God's guidance, doesn't our nation provide generous material support for elders like you?"
"Not only is healthcare and housing free, but you also receive a monthly allowance of five thousand Wind God Coins..."
A young man passing by stopped in confusion, pausing beside the old man's worn-out cart. The cart, etched with the marks of time, stood in stark contrast to the bustling modern city.
"It's good, yes!"
"But these old bones of mine just can't sit still. Watching movies, reading books, or taking the 'parenting qualification exam'—those things are no longer for me..."
"All I can do is sell horse sausages to keep myself busy!"
"I am a man of honor! I refuse to become a parasite of the state!"
"As long as I can still move, I will continue to make even the smallest contribution to this country!"
"Even if it's just letting more people enjoy the taste of horse sausages!"
The old man spoke in a deep, resonant voice.
"Uncle!"
"You're truly admirable!"
"Oh, by the way, have you heard?"
"The Wind God recently revealed another miracle at Mōrin Temple. They say that any citizen who has devoted their life to serving the nation can go to the temple before passing away to be judged by the Wind God's statue. If deemed worthy, they can retain their consciousness in the Wind God's 'Divine Kingdom' and reincarnate to live another life!"
"I've heard from those who've experienced it that the 'Divine Kingdom' contains every imaginable scene, tailored to match our deepest desires and fantasies!"
"In that world, we can even enjoy powers akin to that of the gods..."
The young man squatted beside the old man, speaking animatedly.
His gaze pierced through the towering buildings, toward the mountain outside the city where the temple stood. Even from a great distance, the temple was visible, shrouded by the canopy of an enormous, flourishing tree.
"Not interested!"
"I think this world is already the best one!"
The old man squinted in the direction of Mōrin Temple before quickly turning his attention back to his neatly arranged horse sausages on the cart.
For a long time, as the old man resumed his hawking, a red-haired youth approached, holding the hand of a young boy with similarly red hair.
"Boss!"
"I'll take two links of horse sausage!"
The red-haired youth, with a clear and refined appearance, smiled as he spoke. A purple diamond-shaped mark adorned his forehead.
"Got it!"
"You're here again, young man!"
"These sausages are my latest batch, and I've even improved the family recipe. I guarantee you'll love them!"
"I've always said, even the coldest-hearted..."
The bearded old man's eyes lit up as he saw the red-haired youth, launching into a spirited conversation as if he had found a kindred spirit.
...
Nightfall.
In the outskirts of Sunagakure, atop a small private residence, the red-haired youth sat leisurely on the roof.
In his right hand, he held a dark red horse sausage as thick as a baby's arm, chewing thoughtfully while gazing at the moon above.
"Brother!"
"There you are!"
"These sausages taste awful—why are you eating them so happily?"
At the doorway, a boy in bear-patterned pajamas ran out, then climbed up to sit beside the red-haired youth.
When the boy saw the sausage in the youth's hand, his rosy cheeks scrunched into a bitter expression, his nose and eyebrows wrinkling adorably.
"Indeed..."
"Maybe the sausages really don't taste good..."
"Someone once told me the same thing..."
The red-haired youth chuckled, stroking the boy's soft hair with his left hand.
"Who was it, brother?"
The boy's wide, innocent eyes blinked curiously as he looked up at the youth.
"That person..."
"We now call Him the Wind God..."
The youth's gaze returned to the bright moon in the sky.
The young boy, evidently unable to comprehend the weight of this statement, kicked his legs idly before looking up at the moon alongside the youth.
"Brother..."
"Why is the moon green?"
...
The once desolate moon had been transformed over the years into a thriving, vibrant landscape teeming with life.
At the very center of the moon stood a towering tree. Its massive trunk twisted and intertwined multiple main branches, and its dense foliage created an overwhelming visual impact.
If one were to ascend to the highest point of the Divine Tree, they would find a white-haired youth seated in the center of an enormous lotus flower, resembling a god or Buddha.
"Hmm?"
"So they've arrived..."
"Absorbing energy without damaging the ecosystem is far too slow for cultivating Chakra Fruits..."
"Perfect timing..."
"Finally, the fertilizer has come to me..."
Suddenly, the white-haired youth opened his eyes.
Shockingly, he opened three eyes simultaneously—two Rinnegan and the crimson Rinne Sharingan on his forehead.
The End
