Chapter 5 - Status

Victor lay on the cold stone floor , staring up at the ceiling he couldn't see. His body ached, but his mind wouldn't slow down. The others were quiet, maybe asleep, but he was wide awake, thoughts spinning.

'They must be really tired… I feel exhausted too' he thought.

He suddenly let out a yawn.

But he knew he couldn't given in to the exhaustion— not until he had a good grasp of his situation.

'What to do, what to do…'

"oh the genesis thingy!" He blurted out, then he quickly looked around. To his relief, no one was watching him.

"Phew… that was close. Don't want them thinking I'm crazy' he thought with a chuckle

Then he thought back to the

screen—the system.

He closed his eyes, focusing.

Like last time, the runes floated into view, golden and clear, glowing faintly

against the dark.

Victor frowned. He raised a hand slowly, like the data was something he could reach out and touch. It felt both familiar and strange—like reading code you didn't write but still

understood.

"Alright," he whispered.

"Let's figure this out."

Strength: 4 — Not terrible,

but not good. Probably meant how hard he could hit or lift something. Right

now, he felt like he could barely lift a chair.

Endurance: 3 — That explained

the soreness. This had to be stamina and durability. He'd have to fix this fast

if he wanted to keep up. Especially with the extra attention on him.

Agility: 5 — Decent. 'Maybe

that's what helped me dodge the knife back in the alley'. He'd always been

quick on his feet.

Intelligence: 9 — His best

stat. This one felt right. Logic, learning, problem-solving—he lived in that

space. If nothing else, this gave him hope.

Charisma: 6 — This one made

him pause. He'd never been a people person. Not cold, just... private. But

here, charisma wasn't just charm. It felt different.

Victor focused on it. The

number pulsed faintly in the air. There was a subtle energy to it, like the

world was gently leaning toward him.

"Not just people," he

muttered. "It affects the world too."

He didn't fully get it yet,

but he knew it was something bigger. Some kind of influence. Something that

would matter later.

Mana: 1 — A small number.

That one was obvious. He didn't have much magic in him. Maybe he could change

that, maybe not. Still it explained his MP. One point of Mana equals ten MP

Vitality: 3 — This one

connected too. Three points of Vitality… thirty HP. It made sense. Vitality

wasn't just toughness it was his life force. His durability. It showed how long

he could live through damage. And how much of said damage he could take.

Important. Very important.

Luck: ??? — Of course. The

one thing everyone wanted to understand, and it was hidden.

Then his eyes drifted to the

Attributes section. Only one stood out: Empath.

As he stared, it expanded.

> Empath — You possess a

heightened sensitivity to the emotions and thoughts of others. Range and

clarity depend on Intelligence and Charisma.

Tier: Minor

Victor let out a small breath. "It really is the same."

Back on Earth, he always had

a gut feeling about people. Like he could see behind their masks. He thought it was just instinct.

Here, it was real. A trait. Something defined.

The other attributes werestill locked—he could tell. Maybe he'd unlock them later, or maybe they'd reveal themselves on their own.

Then there were Level and Tier.

Level made sense. He hadn't done anything yet. No training. No fighting. No growth.

But Tier... that was still a mystery.

He didn't feel stronger or better than anyone else. Not yet. And whatever Tier really meant, he'd have to earn it the same way he did with Level—through effort. Through action.

Then the quests. He didn't even know how to go about any of them.

He stared at the floating panel for a few more seconds, then let it fade.

Victor leaned back against the wall, eyes half closed.

He'd figure out a plan of action later. For now he needed information.

He looked to the side to find a pair of striking eyes looking straight at him with scrutiny.
