King Edward had summoned the Grand Priest of Elzager.
In his dining room, King Edward sat down in his seat and the priest sat down opposite him. Before them, the table was filled with meals and drinks. The guards stood at the side, not listening to the conversation between them.
"How did it go?" King Edward questioned. "You didn't report back immediately. I'm curious to know what development was made."
The priest kept his calm. "Nothing," he stared at the king. "Nothing happened."
King Edward stared at him. "And what does that mean?"
"He's smart," the priest said. "So he's clearly not falling for whatever I say. Besides, we didn't have such a pretty past. So I don't expect him to come running to me. Do I?"
King Edward stared at him for a while, his expression calm and cold. And then he smiled. "Right? I thought as much. It'd take some time to get to him."
